Chapter 5 A Letter

  • Li Xinyu changed into a round necked shirt, which almost covered all the marks on her neck.
  • When she came out after getting changed, she saw Jiang Ranran holding a document and waving at her, “Oh yes, someone came by and sent this express delivery, think it’s yours.”
  • “For me?” asked Xinyu, who, after receiving the document, noticed that its sender were from Ling Global.
  • Her brows knitted tight, as her left eyelid jumped frantically.
  • “Left eye jumps for fortune, while the right one jumps for disaster,” Li Xinyu muttered. “Am I going to strike it rich?”
  • Honestly, she did not have any ambition for wealth. Her only dream now was for heaven to see favorably of her, give her a chance and let her get a divorce. A marriage full of resentment was too tiring to maintain.
  • She abhorred Ling Yao, because he took her virginity by force.
  • Ling Yao detested her, because it was not a marriage of his say or control.
  • “Heavens above, please bless me.”
  • “What are you mumbling, Xinyu? Let's go see your present,” Jiang Ranran took the document envelope from her hand and placed it on the table. “This document won’t run away. It'll be here waiting for us to open it when we get back.”
  • “Alright,” agreed Lin Xinyu, who smiled gently. Taking a last look at the Ling character on the envelope, inside her heart, she had a nagging sense of premonition over it.
  • Jiang Ranran drove them both to the Fengning Shopping Complex, the most centrally located shopping complex in the city. Filled with merchandize from major international brands, it was not the kind of place average people could afford to shop at.
  • The Jiang family was in the business of jewelry and the Fengning Shopping Complex was home to one of its famous jewelry stores. Jiang Ranran held Li Xinyu’s hand and made a beeline towards the shop.
  • The moment they realized that she was the eldest daughter of the Jiangs, the store’s employee immediately went into the office behind and brought something out.
  • It was a ring set with a pink diamond, which had an exquisite design and unique flare to it.
  • “I designed this especially for you, as a wedding gift, but your wedding happened too quickly, and then you left the country, so I never had the chance to give it to you. Although big brother will inherit the family business and he studied management, I want to contribute as well. So I went to learn jewelry design, since it’s family related. This is the first thing I ever designed, and this is its finished product. It's a wedding ring, for my best friend,” she stuffed the jewelry box into Li Xinyu’s hand. “This gift came late, but I don’t think you would mind.”
  • It was a 3-carat pink diamond and Li Xinyu had a strong sense of familiarity about it.
  • Neither the Jiang family nor Jiang Ranran were ever short of money, but this pink diamond was a scarcity, not to mention it was one of this proportion.
  • “I designed it myself, but this pink diamond was from my big brother. He said he had no use for it anymore and gave it to me,” Jiang Ranran said. “So it bears the good intentions of both my brother and me. No matter what, you've already been married to him for 3 years, we just wish that you can have a better life.”
  • Li Xinyu eyes peered down, beheld the ring and froze.
  • Indeed, it was Jiang Yihan’s diamond.
  • Then she heard Jiang Ranran saying, “I personally supervised this ring’s production and all labor was done by internationally acclaimed masters, just so my big brother’s wonderful diamond wouldn’t go to waste. Xinyu, look at it, do you like it?”
  • Li Xinyu paused and placed the ring aside and replied, “Ranran, I can't accept this.”
  • “Why not?”
  • “Because... I don't plan on continuing with this marriage.”
  • “Do you mean...”
  • “Yes,” Li Xinyu said calmly and smiled tranquilly. “I want a divorce.”
  • Jiang Ranran was taken aback by this sudden turn.
  • Li Xinyu stopped for a moment and continued, “So thank you, but this too so precious, I can't accept it.”
  • Jiang Ranran watched her in a daze, only coming back to herself again after a while.
