Chapter 5

  • 4❧
  • Calvin laid her on his bed then removing her boots before he removed his shirt then going back to kissing her as his hand went up her shirt cupping her breast and massaging her as their kiss became more intense. Her shirt and then bra came off along with her skirt. All she had on was her red silky thong. She shivered as his lips began to kiss her from her neck down to her breast as his mouth was kissing and suckling her. His fingers explored her body down to her mound and moving her thong to the side and inserting his fingers into her secret place. She quivered as his lips and tongue went from one breast to the other and feeling his fingers inside her was enthralling sending heated sensations and she was wanting more of him but he was teasing and tantalizing which at the moment he was showing great restraint by taking his time even though hearing her whimper he wanted to be inside her only he didn’t want to rush making sweet passionate love with her. Her heart quicken until he knew that he wanted more as her mound was moisten that he wanted to taste her sweet nectar. His lips kissed every inch then removing her thong right before he separated her lips with his fingers as his mouth devoured her mound. He was teasing using his teeth to nibble her clit. Her hands grabbing the sheets while he pinned her thighs down holding her in place as he felt her trembling then hearing her moaning and then inserting her fingers back into her mound as he suckled her clit. She was writhing and trying to hold back from screaming but when Melissa couldn’t hold back Calvin removing his pants quickly not giving her a chance to catch her breath when he thrust his shaft inside her. She hadn’t sex in so long that he took her by surprise but he wasn’t rough. He plunged himself slowly at first moving his hips slowly holding her in an embrace as the side of her face pressed against his chest. His body muscular body was brawny and his body was heated against hers. She felt every movement inside her and her she began kissing his neck and then he went a little harder and her nails dug into his skin and she pushed her hips up he grabbed her buttocks pulling her upward for he was now on his knees as her legs wrapping around his back. Their bodies were wet against each other as she sat in his lap and kissing his lips. Their breathing was heated and she rocked in his lap. She found herself back on his bed and he began to quicken his thrusting and she was getting louder till he couldn’t hold back any longer. He was still inside her and she was spent as he gave her little kisses. Their hearts were racing she stared into his hazel eyes. She should have felt guilt but being here with him seemed so right. He covered them both up under his blankets then he was rubbing her shoulders then she turned to him.
  • “Am I going to regret this between us?”
  • “No. I am not here to hurt you Melissa.”
  • “What are we then?”
  • “Melissa, I am not going to use you. I do care for you and I want to see us make this work.”
  • She laid on his chest listening to his heart and thinking that she had never had this connection like this before. A tear slid down her face thinking always thinking. His finger wiped away her tear, “I am here for you and on your side. I don’t have a lot but I am loyal and I have honor.”
  • She got up for a moment, “I need to text my uncle so they won’t worry.”
  • “I’ll get your purse.”
  • He got up from the bed and putting on his boxers as she admired his body. He came back with her purse and grabbed them both a drink. She texted her uncle letting him know she will be back in the morning and not to worry. He came back to bed while she took a drink from the bottle.
  • She looked back at him, “What?”
  • He took her drink and smiled then wrapping his arms around her and whispered into her ear, “Ready for round two.”
  • She smiled back right before he pulled her into his embrace and hearing her squeal with laughter before she was moaning once again.

  • By morning she had forgotten where she was until she looked around remembering where she was. Though he was a bachelor his room now that the sunlight brighten up the room she could see his room was modest. The room was rustic which reminded her of her childhood. Her parents home was very rustic then she turned to see that he wasn’t in bed next to her. Right before she got up he came into the room wearing blue jeans and button up shirt holding up some coffee for her and handing her a bag.
  • “I didn’t have any feminine soaps or anything for you to shower with so I brought you some.”
  • “Thoughtful. I didn’t even feel you get out of bed.”
  • He smiled, “You were worn out then.”
  • “Patting yourself on the back mentally?”
  • “No. Your scratches however is enough. I don’t sleep much so I was doing some work and decided to get us breakfast.”
  • “Coffee is breakfast?”
  • “No. It’s in the kitchen.”
  • She sipped more of her coffee and then looking over at him, “So what are we then?”
  • “Well I think we skipped a few steps so I guess time will tell. I was thinking this weekend we could go eat Chinese food or…”
  • “Do you like horse back riding?”
  • “Never rode horses before.”
  • “This weekend I was planning on taking Rachel my grandparent’s farm. We could go eat out Thursday if you like?”
  • “Tomorrow night Chinese food and the movies perhaps?”
  • “I like that.”
  • She looked at her watch, “As much I want to stay I do need to shower.”
  • “In the hall to the left is the shower. Excuse the mess.”
  • She grabbed her stuff he had gotten for her when he handed her his robe watching her leave the room he had a smile on his face. An hour later she was dressed in her clothes from last night and found him in the kitchen where he was enjoying a bacon and egg cheese biscuits. Hers was still in the wrapper. He was reading the newspaper when she saw pictures of her and her daughter. She read the title of the article then went on her phone to read the article for herself. She felt sick as she read the article was making her sound like she was involved in Dave’s disappearance. He looked up and saw she was upset then he turned the papers over to see the article. Someone made a statement about the Rag to riches heiress. He read the article for himself then he looked over at her, “Don’t let this get to you.”
  • “How can I not? Someone sent a recording of Bethany…”
  • The paper went on to mention that some of the investors in some of the projects maybe withdrawing until Melissa would be cleared. She looked down on her phone to see her friend calling her and she answered the phone but she didn’t get a chance to talk because Tina began talking, “I just saw the papers. Don’t worry our lawyers are already on this Melissa. The people in California wanted to reschedule the appointment. It has been reschedule after January. It’s just protocol is all.”
  • “But I have been cleared though.”
  • “I know but it’s okay. I got more investors who are more than willing to take the other’s place. Our stock are showing strong and I am scheduling you an interview for the next few days. Plus I am coming back down so we got this.”
  • “It has to that person who was trying to blackmail me.”
  • “Listen, your husband disappearance was surely to come back up and we talked about this prior. Just enjoy the holiday this year. I got an interview set up next week so again I am coming down and we have people who are on top of this. So don’t worry about this. I tried calling your house last night but your uncle said you were out. So where were you?”
  • “Tina stop. Okay I’ll see you next week and I will cancel my reservation for the tenth then.”
  • “You were with a guy so who is he?”
  • “Not now Tina.”
  • “You are still there with him aren’t you? I want details later. Bye for now okay.”
  • “Nosy bye.”
  • She heard her friend laughing as she hung up on her friend and looked over at Calvin who was refraining from smiling.
  • “My friend is a horn dog.”
  • “It’s okay. You want me to take you home now?”
  • “Yeah. I told my daughter I was going to take her shopping but being in public isn’t a good idea now.”
  • “I don’t think you should stop living your life because of that article.”
  • 6❧
  • “I just don’t want Rachel exposed to this.”
  • “You shouldn’t hide. I am going to check a few things out okay. Everything is going to be fine. I have a meeting with a few people and….”
  • “I need to find my husband regardless if he is alive or dead. I am tired of this hanging over my head because I didn’t ask to have this drama.”
  • “Your husband was a cheater and had a double life. I have never let anyone down. If I find anything out I will call you.”
  • He held her and kissed her, “This storm will pass okay.”
  • “I hope so.”
  • She ate her breakfast quickly before getting into his vehicle and he drove her back to her place, “If you need me just call me okay.”
  • She returned his kiss before getting out and heading back inside. She turned back and he was still there then she went inside her home. He backed out and now he knew he needed to find this man. His gut instinct told him that this Dave character was alive. He was going to find this man and put this case to rest.”
  • 7❧
  • Melissa went to her room and changed into dress pants and a blazer before she went down to her daughter’s play room where she was reading a book. She looked up and saw her mommy and ran to her, “I missed you mommy.”
  • “I missed you too baby. I am not going to California next week so today is your day. What do you want to do or where do you want to go?”
  • “Can we go to the western store please?”
  • “Where in Nashville or…”
  • “Mommy there is a western store in the next town. Uncle told me about it plus they have rodeo classes there as well.”
  • “We can do that then.”
  • The next town was where she had lived with Dave though she never took her daughter there because she was afraid someone would cause trouble she knew her daughter deserved to have a normal life. An hour later they were at the western store as her daughter bought gear for rodeo class along with some extra things she may or may not need. Melissa signed Rachel up for classes and sure enough some lady who recognized Melissa and saw Rachel the lady smiled, “So this is Dave’s daughter? Sad she never knew her father.”
  • Rachel who was looking at some western magazines when she heard the conversation.
  • Melissa smiled at her daughter, “She isn’t sad at all.”
  • The woman who was looking at Rachel and then back at Melissa, “A girl needs her father but sadly he isn’t here. Does she know who he is or was?”
  • “My daughter knows she had a father but until we know what happened she doesn’t need negativity around her.”
  • “Sad about her uncle and…”
  • “What are you getting at besides fishing for information?”
  • “I use to date Dave and he would not have just vanished into thin air. Someone knows something and I think it’s sad that his mother never had closure.”
  • Melissa was about to say something but her daughter came up beside her, “Momma there is a man taking pictures of me over there.”
  • Melissa looked and there were a few photographers that had gotten wind that she and her daughter were in town. The bodyguards were alerted and they surrounded both Melissa and Rachel and getting them out of the store. A few news reporters showed up asking for her to say something on regards about the body of Bethany being found not too far from where Dave’s truck had been found. The bodyguard moving in front of Melissa and protecting till she was back in her vehicle then he got in as well. She didn’t feel like driving so she let the bodyguards take over at the wheel.
  • “Mommy why are you upset?”
  • “I am okay baby. I think it is best we shop in the city or online for a little bit.”
  • “Did I do something wrong momma?”
  • “No. Adults can be rude sometimes. Come on we can go horse back riding if you like?”
  • “Can we order lunch then?”
  • “I’ll have the cook fix us lunch and we can have a picnic at the stables.”
  • She contacted the rodeo instructor and requested that they do one on one lessons for the time being. As promised she and her daughter went to the stables and lunch was waiting on them and afterward they went riding. When they returned to the stables two cops were there with the detective.
  • “Ms. Melissa we were wondering if you could talk with us for a moment?”
  • She had the bodyguards take her daughter home and she told her daughter she would be back home as soon as possible.
  • 8❧
  • “The body of Bethany was found ten miles from where your husband’s truck was found. We were wondering where you was last night?”
  • “I was with Calvin Masters from four yesterday till seven this morning. Yesterday morning I was at home and the day before I was around family.”
  • “In Bethany’s car we found this.”
  • She saw some old earrings that Dave had given her that she thought she had lost and Dave had slapped her for losing because they were his grandmother’s.
  • “Those were family heirlooms that belonged to my husband’s grandmother.”
  • “Can I speak frankly Ms. Layton?”
  • “Yes.”
  • Detective Hillard told the officers to leave so that no one would hear their discussion so no one would repeat what was said between her and Ms. Layton.
  • “I don’t think you are involved but someone is trying really hard to frame you in your husband’s disappearance. Your lawyer already sent us pictures of Ms. Bethany’s past from when she was a stripper. I could release a statement clearing you but if we do this the person who is really behind this could go back into hiding.”
  • “So for now you want me to be the main suspect?”
  • “I don’t like the idea of it. I mean at first I did want pin this on you but reviewing the evidence I don’t believe you are guilty of anything. I can say off the record that the “friend” of Bethany’s was in fact Ms. Bethany posing as someone else. I already spoke to your attorney and let her know what I am discussing with you now.”
  • “So what do I got to do?”
  • “I am going to do some investigation in the next few days so I would ask that you stay in town and not leave. Let whoever is behind this believe you are the prime suspect because whoever is doing this is very cocky. Maybe he will make a mistake.”
  • “He?”
  • “Ma’am I believe your husband is alive. I think he is the one who is blackmailing you. As the saying goes give him enough rope and let him hang himself.”
  • “You believe so you found some evidence to back up this?”
  • “That part I cannot reveal because of the investigation. I think you should not be away from your security guards and I am putting officers. Let the media believe they are watching you for the investigation but reality is they are here for your protection. The less you know the safer you are.”
  • The detective finally left and Melissa waited till she knew she was alone and she sat down and cried. She dried her eyes when she felt she wasn’t alone. She didn’t think to bring her gun and everyone was already back at her home watching over her child. She walked to the stables and got back on her horse. She walked her horse outside when she saw someone in the trees but she didn’t see the gun and she heard a shot and then darkness took her.
  • 9❧
  • Rachel waiting for her mother it had been two hours and the guards came back from the stables but they didn’t see her mother. Her uncle came to the house and checked in on Melissa while the guards were calling the sheriff department. Calvin showed up to the house and was told that Melissa was missing. He went to the stables and looked around and there on the ground he found some blood. He looked around and saw several footprints and he kept looking until he saw that her horse was not in the stable and went outside and looked on the ground and saw some footprints that came from the woods. He didn’t want to touch them because of evidence so he followed them and found a spot near the tree line where someone was had stood. He called the uncle and the uncle told him that the old stables were near the family cabin. He started following the trail and three miles from the stables there was the family’s old cabin. He grabbed his side arm and went inside gun drawn and finger near the trigger and there was Melissa on the bed laying still. He checked her pulse and she was alive. There was bloodstain on her right shoulder but it wasn’t from a bullet but someone tranquilized her. He notified the deputies and letting them know he had found her. Near head was a letter and he didn’t touch the letter. The ambulance came and took Melissa who was starting to wake up. He rode with her to the hospital and the deputies started investigating the area and collecting evidence.
  • An hour later after answering questions she was just grateful that she wasn’t killed. They told her daughter that she was chasing the horse and she got hurt that she would be home soon. Calvin sat across from her and he looked pissed but he waited for the doctor to be done before saying anything.
  • “I don’t want you by yourself.”
  • “That’s what detective Hillard said. She also said Bethany was the one posing as the “friend”.”
  • “Whoever shot you knew your family’s land.”
  • “I think Dave is alive.”
  • “Not here though. I’m thinking I should stay with you.”
  • “As much as I want you I still got to think about Rachel. I don’t want her to get hurt if things went south between us.”
  • “I will be professional and stay in another room.”
  • “Tina is coming and plus my uncle and his wife are staying over till this blows over.”
  • She was thinking of Rachel getting close to Calvin and what if she gets attached and then Calvin decides that he doesn’t want to be a father to child that isn’t his. Then she thought about Calvin wasn’t her husband. He wasn’t Dave.
  • “I have plenty of room. Just nothing in front of Rachel.”
  • “You have my word Ms. Layton.”
  • He didn’t leave her side till she was released from the hospital the guard took them back to her home. He then drove back to his house and to retrieve a few things before going back her home.
  • 10❧
  • The letter that was found next to was taken to be examined. Melissa trying to rest and laying next to her was her daughter who didn’t know exactly what was going on but she knew something had happened.
  • “Mommy are you okay?”
  • “Yes baby girl. Mommy just got a scrape.”
  • “Was it really because of us going horseback riding?”
  • “No. Listen baby you haven’t done anything wrong. I am okay come on give me some kisses.”
  • Her daughter hugged her mother and kissing her mother on the cheek. Melissa held her daughter for a little bit making sure her wound had been covered up so that her daughter didn’t see what exactly happened.
  • “Mommy do you want some hot tea?”
  • “That would be great sweetie.”
  • Her daughter quickly went downstairs to make fresh hot tea for her mother when Calvin came in her room. The old farmhouse had gotten some upgrades and had been renovated by adding extra room. He could see that this room had been an add on.
  • “How are you feeling?”
  • “Sore to be honest. Did you get a chance to read the letter?”
  • “No. It has been taken in for evidence. They added some cameras to the stables and to the old cabin. I think you may have to hire more guards to patrol the grounds.”
  • “I already had the head of security to hire six more guards for two different shifts.
  • He sat down on the bed when Rachel came in with hot tea and she saw Calvin. The little girl smiled and set the tray down with the tea pot and two cups and with cream and honey.
  • “I can grab another cup.”
  • Before Melissa could say anything her daughter skipped out the door and Melissa knew her daughter thought Calvin was mommy’s new boyfriend.
  • “Cute kid. She favors you a lot.”
  • “She has her daddy’s eyes but yes she is my smaller twin. She means the world to me. I don’t want to do anything wrong by her.”
  • “You are a wonderful mother.”
  • “Earlier we had a run in with one of Dave’s ex-girlfriends. People thought I married him for money and for status. I didn’t care for his money. I thought I had found the love of my life.”
  • “That’s how I feel now. At first I thought you wouldn’t want to date me because of..”
  • She reached for his hand and smiled, “I was blessed but I will always be a country gal at heart.”
  • Rachel came back in the room and saw her mommy holding the man’s hand and she giggled, “Mommy you kept your promise.”
  • She turned to the man, “Do you like my mommy?”
  • He smiled over at the child and smiled back at the little girl.
  • “I do very much.”
  • “You like children?”
  • “Yes.”
  • “Do you have any children?”
  • “No. But I would like to one day.”
  • The little girl poured some hot tea for herself and then fixed her mother some tea before giving Calvin the rest.
  • “My mommy works a lot so she needs someone to take her away from her work from time to time.”
  • “Rachel little girl’s should talk about little girl subjects.”
  • “But mommy you do work a lot.”
  • Calvin chuckled some, “I work a lot too actually.”
