Chapter 5 The Dream

  • Ady's POV
  • Jasper checked his wristwatch. It was rush hour. Because of this, many people will be on the train, buses, and jeepneys. Together, we went up the stairs to get to the ticket window. Though the line was long, people moved quickly through it.
  • We chatted to pass the time. I talked to Jasper as if I were a TV talk show host.
  • "Are you going to go abroad?"
  • Jasper nodded. "I want to travel around the world."
  • "Huh? Well, your course should have been aviation, not engineering."
  • "Engineering tuition is cheaper," Jasper said, laughing and scratching his head.
  • We finally got to the ticket window after a while. Jasper immediately paid for both of us. When we got our tickets, we hurried to the platform to wait for the train. Jasper turned toward the crowd, which was also waiting for the train.
  • "Wow, it looks like I'll have to use my muscles here," Jasper said, then squeezed his biceps. I laughed. "You are making fun of me! Do you know you'll use this as a handle later on?"
  • "Really? It looks soft because it is just fat." I giggled.
  • "Hey, my loves. This is hard. I guess you want me to give it a try on you."
  • I was surprised when Jasper embraced me in the middle of a crowd. Soon after, I pulled away from his embrace, and he gave me a sneaky grin and a wink.
  • "What? I'm good at hugging, aren't I? I have strong muscles." Jasper said.
  • I just stared at him. It was the first time a guy hugged me in the middle of a crowd. But it didn't feel like I was being abused.
  • "My loves, are you angry?" Jasper asked when he noticed I was not talking. "I'm not a maniac, promise!" He lifted his left hand. "I'm just used to you," he said, lowering his hand and grabbing the strap of his bag, which was slung over his shoulder. "Nobody is going to be angry, right?"
  • "No one will be upset except the security staff and the senior travelers traveling with us. It's because you did PDA."
  • He scratched his head. "It was just a friendly embrace. But okay, I won't do it without your permission."
  • I cocked my head. 'So he wants to embrace me again?'
  • We eventually heard the train coming. Jasper quickly took my bag, which surprised me.
  • "Hey, what are you doing?" I asked.
  • "It is going to be hard to get in. Just trust me, okay?"
  • Jasper stood behind me and grabbed both of my shoulders. Jasper held my hand when the train stopped. Jasper went in first to start the pushing motion with the other guys, so only I could join in. The crowd keeps pushing the passengers into the train until we hear the door signaling that the door is about to close. Because there was a crowd between us, Jasper pulled me with all his strength. He got rid of the men who were standing between us. Jasper instantly placed one arm around my back while the other held onto the ceiling handrail.
  • With a smile, Jasper bent to look at me. He was tall and had to look down to make eye contact with me. "What? Are you okay?"
  • I had to tilt my head to look at him. He was tall and about 6 feet tall, but I was only 5′6".
  • "Y-yeah. I'm fine. "H-how'd you do that?" I asked, surprised.
  • Because Jasper is tugging me toward him, he can break the guys blocking the train entrance. I wasn't the only one surprised; so were the other passengers and even the men he pulled out. It was too hard to do with nearly a dozen men in the way.
  • "Jeez, you already know the answer. Hold my muscled biceps." He said it with a sly grin. I held it as he told me to. "So, my biceps are hard, right?"
  • "Fine, I believe you." It's hard," I told him, to his satisfaction.
  • "That's not the only thing that's hard for me..." Jasper gave me a mischievous smile.
  • "Stop bragging. You might slip up and say another hard "thing," I warned. Jasper chuckled but didn't say anything.
  • Later, the train stopped, and everyone who was standing got off. Because too many people are on the train's wrong side, everyone has to move. Jasper held tight to the handrail and stood behind me while I hugged him. With one hand on his biceps, I was holding his clothes from behind. When our eyes met, he smiled at me.
  • "It looks like riding the train will be my favorite," he whispered.
  • I gulped and turned away from Jasper. "Please, Jasper, don't put me through those moves. Later, others will think you like me."
  • Jasper laughed, and I frowned.
  • "Seriously? Can't it be YOU who likes me?" He even stretched the word "you" to tease me.
  • "Excuse me, but I don't like men who smell."
  • "Jeez! I don't smell my loves! I smell like a baby. You can even kiss the armpit."
  • "Smell like a baby, your foot on a baby. You don't smell like a baby. You smell like you are making a baby." I joked.
  • "Is it so? You want us to have a baby?" Jasper joked back. "Ouch!" He felt my fingernail lightly press against the skin on his back.
  • I said nothing, and Jasper just grinned. Now, I felt something strange again. With so many people on the train, I have a strange feeling that someone is looking at me and watching me. I had goosebumps. I turned around but couldn't tell who was staring at me. I immediately put one hand on my neck and stroked it. It was the same feeling I'd had in the library earlier. I suddenly felt nervous. I tried to ignore the feeling by closing my eyes and tightening my grip on Jasper's clothes.
  • Jasper and I also got off the train a few minutes later. Together, we walked down the stairs. Tricycles were waiting at the bottom of the railway station, so Jasper and I sat side by side. The tricycle quickly filled up with the two of them, so even though it was tight, I could barely move forward, and only half of my butt was on the seat. On the other hand, Jasper was hunched over and trying to fit inside the tricycle. I wasn't upset, though. I couldn't stop giggling.
  • "You look cute, like a sardine stuffed into a can," I joked.
  • Jasper looked at me. "Oh, I'm becoming cute in your eyes. Does that mean you're interested in me?"
  • "Yes, I'm interested in pinching your face."
  • Jasper chuckled. "Jeez, do you think I'll leave here alive?"
  • "Of course, I should be the one you ask if I am still alive before we get to the house. You are too big!"
  • Jasper laughed, and I did too. A few minutes later, the tricycle stopped in front of our house. Jasper quickly got out of the car and stretched.
  • "Thank you, Kuya!" said Jasper.
  • The HOA (Homeowners Association) permitted the tricycle that got us into the community to keep non-residents out.
  • When Jasper entered our gate, he gave me my bag. My grandma came out and greeted me with a smile. She glanced at Jasper.
  • "Jasper, thank you for dropping Ady here."
  • "Yes, granny, I've been watching her."
  • Mockingly, I said, "What a hero you are!"
  • My granny giggled. "Jasper, eat dinner here. Join us."
  • "Next time, granny. Dad is coming home, and he asked us to eat together."
  • "Is it so? Okay, if you say so..."
  • I looked at Jasper for a few seconds. "Ah, are you going to kiss me?" Jasper made a joke when he noticed I was looking at him.
  • "Kisses your foot. Anyway, thank you."
  • "No problem!" Jasper said with a grin.
  • I smiled and followed my grandma into the house. My grandmother's aura was strange that night, but I couldn't tell. I thought she was happy but couldn't think of a reason why. She didn't give me an obvious answer when I asked.
  • Immediately after dinner, I went up to my room. I threw my things on the floor and lay down on the bed.
  • "Perfect, this feels great!"
  • It felt like I was lying in a cloud. Putting my back on the bed made me feel nice and cozy. I closed my eyes for a second.
  • "Help! Help us!"
  • Mom's shouts almost deafened me as the water slowly carried away our car and struck me.
  • "Mom, I am scared..."
  • We heard knocking from outside the car. A man is trying to hit the car with his fist. As my head went deeper into the water in the car, I started to panic. I kept hitting the car window and pulling the door handle repeatedly. I felt like someone sliced a bolt of lightning through my body. I can't breathe.
  • 'Am I going to die?'
  • Then I thought it was probably my last breath, but something soft touched my mouth. Someone is squeezing my nose while air comes in through my mouth. I was being filled with air inside my mouth.
  • 'That's not enough. I need more air...' I thought.
  • A few seconds later, my body was lifted and pressed against something hard.
  • "Miss, wake up! Miss!"
  • I heard a man's voice and tried to open my eyes. I could barely see the young boy until everything got dark.
  • I jump out of bed, panting and sweating. As I finger-combed my hair, I didn't know I had fallen asleep.
  • 'That dream again..'
