Chapter 1 Saving A Man By Accident

  • The sky looked as though it was a piece of dark sapphire-colored rug that had just been washed clean, and the stars, which were scattered all over the rug, were the gold glitters.
  • Along the pathway, the surroundings were engulfed in total darkness. No one would dare to walk on the pathway if they were alone.
  • However, under the pitch-black sky, in the darkness, a singing voice that sounded radically out of place was heard.
  • “I was walking along the country road, with the company of my old cow. Lalalalala… Damn, I sang it wrong again. I really don’t have a talent in singing.”
  • It was a voice so pleasant that one’s mood would be lifted upon hearing it.
  • “Hmph, damn Anran. He actually refused to escort me home. I won’t bring him any more snacks in the future,” Mu Xitong muttered to herself as she pouted her lips.
  • Zhuo Anran was supposed to walk her home tonight, but he was suddenly invited to a reunion dinner with his classmates, leaving Mu Xitong to walk back home alone.
  • Mu Xitong scampered along the way. She was not afraid of the darkness that surrounded her at all.
  • “Lalala, lalala…”
  • “Thump! Argh!” It seemed like Mu Xitong had stepped on something. She let out a cry in shock.
  • All of a sudden, one of Mu Xitong’s feet was grabbed by a hand.
  • “Argh, who are you? Let go of me!” Using her limbs, Mu Xitong struggled to loosen the grip on her trousers.
  • While Mu Xitong was struggling, the person who was tugging at her trousers spoke without warning.
  • “Help… help me.”
  • It was a man’s voice, low and deep. It was magnetic, but it sounded as if it was frosted with a layer of ice from a thousand years ago. The voice made the man unapproachable.
  • “W-Who are you?” Mu Xitong asked in a trembling voice.
  • “Help me,” the man repeated the same thing and fainted after he had finished his words.
  • Mu Xitong squatted down slowly to take a look at the man.
  • As the pathway was shrouded in darkness, she could not see his face clearly.
  • “What should I do? Should I help him?” Mu Xitong was in a dilemma.
  • “But I can’t leave him alone here. Screw it, saving a life is more meritorious than any other deeds.” Mu Xitong decided firmly.
  • Mu Xitong mustered up all her strength in her body and lifted up the man.
  • The man was roughly 1.9 meters tall, whereas Mu Xitong’s height was only at 1.69 meters.
  • Damn, is this the so-called cutest height difference? Mu Xitong scoffed at the idea in her mind.
  • Since her home was just a few meters away, Mu Xitong did not hail a taxi.
  • One of her principles in life was to save up as much as possible.
  • When she finally brought the man home, her clothes were soaked with sweat. She couldn’t help but loosen her hold on the man.
  • With a thud, the man dropped to the ground.
  • Staring at the man on the ground in a daze, Mu Xitong apologized, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to do that on purpose.”
  • With that, she laboriously hauled the man onto the sofa before retrieving the medical kit.
  • Although Mu Xitong’s room was not very spacious, it was decorated in a very cozy and comfortable way. The room had basic furniture and everything she would ever need.
  • With the medical kit in hand, Mu Xitong dashed toward the man.
  • Finally, she was able to see the man’s face clearly.
  • Unexpectedly, the man was wearing a golden mask with a dragon pattern engraved on it. The pattern was so nicely engraved that the dragon looked as if it was moving with life.
  • The mask gave a mysterious and devilish charm to the man.
  • Although Mu Xitong could not see the man’s entire face, her imagination had already filled up the parts that were lacking.
  • She pursed her lips in disdain and commented, “He must be a very ugly man. That’s why he’s wearing a mask.”
  • Looking at the man’s frail appearance, an idea hit her. She knocked on her forehead and swiftly squatted down to check on his injuries.
  • Although Mu Xitong majored in design in college, she knew how to handle minor injuries.
  • When Mu Xitong removed the man’s clothes, she was completely taken aback by the scene before her.
  • There was a gunshot wound on the man’s abdomen. Luckily, the bullet did not hit his major organs.
  • “Oh my god, what kind of person did I rescue?” Mu Xitong exclaimed in bewilderment.
  • She shook her head and made a decision. Since she had already brought the man home, she had to help him. Recalling how the actors usually handled gunshot wounds in dramas, she slowly dealt with the wound in the same way.
  • At first, Mu Xitong’s hands were shaking a lot, but it got better after a while.
  • After she was done with the wound, Mu Xitong disinfected the other areas of his abdomen with an alcohol swab.
  • After that, she put aside everything and stretched herself with a yawn.
  • “I should have been a doctor,” Mu Xitong said to herself and pouted her lips proudly.
  • Mu Xitong sprinted to her room again and brought back a blanket to cover up the man.
  • At the thought of the man’s body, Mu Xitong started to work on her homework.
  • Even though she was only in the second year of college, she should still work as hard as possible. Otherwise, she would be left behind by her classmates.
  • Deep in thought, she fished out her phone and sent out a message to someone in her contact list, but there was no reply after more than ten minutes.
  • “He probably has already slept. I should work on my studies first,” Mu Xitong consoled herself.
  • “Hmm.”
  • Just as Mu Xitong was hard at work, the man on the sofa let out a groan.
  • She stood up at once to check on the man and found that his forehead was covered in sweat.
  • After giving it a thought, she knew that the man was having a fever due to the inflammation of his wound.
  • Mu Xitong started getting busy again. She grabbed a basin filled with cold water from the bathroom and wetted a towel. The towel was then placed on the man’s forehead.
  • Mu Xitong made countless trips to and fro. She could feel that her legs were about to snap in half.
  • Fortunately, the man’s fever subsided.
  • She worked on her homework while leaning on the table. At some point in time, she fell asleep on the table.
  • The morning sunlight was soft and warm without a trace of excitement; it was peaceful and relaxing. She had experienced that feeling before.
  • The sunlight poured into the rented house with a modest size, allowing the people and the items inside to bask in it.
  • The man on the sofa slowly came to his senses. He was touching his forehead with his slender fingers.
  • Only then did he realize that he was in an unfamiliar environment.
  • Remembering the incident last night, he immediately exuded a deadly aura, but it dissipated all at once upon hearing a voice that was unbefitting with the background.
  • “Soup dumplings, prawn dumplings, spicy soup, and ice cream are so delicious; they are all mine,” Mu Xitong was mumbling in her dream.
  • Not only was she talking in her sleep, but she was also smacking her lips with saliva leaking out from the corner of her mouth.
  • Watching the scene unfold before him, the man realized that this woman had rescued him.
  • He was staring at Mu Xitong’s sleeping face. A beam of sunlight fell upon her face, and she looked very beautiful this way.
  • In fact, Mu Xitong was a beauty. Although she was no Miss Universe, she was considered to be a very attractive lady with her big eyes, small mouth, and a pointed nose.
  • Lu Zhanting’s icy heart seemed to take a leap after staring at Mu Xitong for just a few seconds’ time.
  • He took a look at Mu Xitong’s workbook on the table before returning his gaze to her. He found that she was not covered with a blanket. For some reason, he felt the need to cover her up with a blanket. As soon as he got to his feet, Lu Zhanting’s body fell forward uncontrollably due to the pain in his abdomen.
  • He wanted to control his body, but he was unable to with his injuries.
  • Fortunately, Lu Zhanting was able to hold on to the table with his hands, otherwise, his entire body would have collapsed onto Mu Xitong. Although he was able to keep his body from falling, his thin lips were pressed against Mu Xitong’s tender ones.
