Chapter 4. About My World

• "Take my virginity before he does!" I pull the dude closer to me. But before I could open my eyes I found my boyfriend laying bleeding on the ground. My heart fell into my stomach "what the hell is going on here!." I sob in terror...
• "What did I tell you?." he murmurs groaning....
• With glazed blood dripping from his fangs. This makes me sick. I stand frozen horrified by his monstrous act.
• "You're evil!." I quiver...

• "Eve, you need to eat. Or you want me to call, Adams?."
• Marilyn yells. At the same time, gets horrified by her own words, especially at the mention of his name. She doesn't appreciate him.
• "I'm not hungry! You can call who so ever you want, I don't care!." I scowl at the mention of his name. I hate when she does that...
• "You need to eaten. You have had nothing since morning and I know you must be hungry. You're just being stubborn!." She keeps yelling at me hoping to convince me.
• "Thanks, Maryline! As I said I'm not hungry!. Please, leave. I want to be left alone."
• I keep scowling and she keeps yelling. Strange, she never yells at me for so long. What's wrong with her?. Or is she this mad at me?.
• "I'm getting sick and tired of this your recent attitude!."
• Maryline howls...
• "Oh, like I'm sick and tired of seeing you and every other member of this house!. Maybe getting married to Adams is my best way out of this coop. At least I won't have to see your, old deceit face!."
• I raise my voice in wrath. Hoping she finally gives up and leaves my room.
• "Eve, mind your words!."
• She furiously warns and immediately gets up from where she is perched.
• "I leave this here. Any time you feel as eating just do!. I got a lot of work to do. I have no time to waste here with you and your childish behavior!."
• She drops the tray on the slab at my bedside and she leaves fuming in wrath. At the moment, I don't give a damn.
• "Yea, better! Leave!."
• I utter as she walks out. She bangs the door at my words. I know I will regret this but right now I'm just mad at her.
• She is like my mum but all she does is stay quiet while I'm being forced into marriage. She has to stand for me against all of them. She is all I got.
• I know my uncle loves me but after all, he is a man and he will always end up reasoning like one no matter the amount of love he has for me.
• For him, like others, it's a privilege for a woman to have a suitor, especially one such as Adams. They call it a dream. They say it's every woman's dream to end up with such a man, handsome and wealthy... They define our future, fantasies, even our imagination like we don't exist. But the truth is they have no idea of what "we" women want. Worse a young girl like me has no say. I can't even change my uncle's mindset talk less of the others. I believe Maryline stands a chance. She can explain things better to him yet all she does is to remain quiet. I'm so disappointed in her.
• "OMG!." I cry about my hopeless situation.
• Bored in my room, I pick up the newspapers about the humans; I usually steal from Maryline's room. As throw a glance on the paper, I unexpectedly see "Adams Telor".
• All that appears are articles talking of his successful career as a very rich lawyer and businessman in the human's world and this sucks.
• "Shit!." I hit the newspaper on the bed. Then remember that no information about our world is found in the human world and the few that they know are myths and suppositional
• "How then do I get to know about Adams?. The man I'm to marry" I get mad at my own words...
• Perhaps I should ask him directly. If I do so, he might not tell me the truth and even if he agrees to tell me the truth he won't say all that I absolutely need to know. He will evade very important topics which will actually help me define his personality.
• "Maryline!." her name popped into my mind. She is the only person who can tell me what is close to the truth in this house and she is the only person I trust. But right now she is seriously mad at me. Let me give her some time to appeal her heart then I will later go to her for queries. I lay back flat in bed with a tiny smile on my face.
• "Adams!..." his name keeps popping in my mind like an alarm clock. I pick back the newspaper. I begin to read the articles I find.
• Everything about him is "Wow, wow!.". From these articles, one can easily conclude that he's a perfect man but we all know that there is no such thing. Maryline always tells me "No one is perfect, Eve!." I murmur imitating Maryline's and it makes me laugh aloud.

• Noting that we are in mid-20th century...
• Only a very few wolves succeed to live in the human form. Many were killed in the great war of the early 18th century "the war of obscure creatures". The humans call the war "the years of Apocalypse."
• Humans are very scared of weird creature or of any phenomenon that is above their understanding or that science can't explain.
• Also, This war caused the extinction of lots of species and obscure creatures, such as vampires and witches.
• To set a balance between the worlds, a group of wolves called "Worlds' Guardians" was formed. Made up of wolves from different clans, governed by the two greatest lineages that are the "Solis and Caelum clan!." which will soon be bonded to form one lineage by marriage.
• This marriage will make the two clans stronger.
• They also say that this marriage will make things easier for the Guardians since they will now have one king governing them.
• My father Edward and Adams father King Demons had a lot of conflicts governing causing lots of civil hatred amongst the clans...
• However, the Guardians have just reduced but haven't stopped the number of atrocities caused by some wolves in the human world.
• For me Eve, I know nothing that's happening in both worlds. My father always kept me aside. The little I know is due to Maryline's efforts, newspapers I steal from her and also through Uncle Edmonton...

• I happily lay flat in bed reading the articles. I love staring at the human world through my newspaper, everything seems easier there, so calm and void of problems, how I wish was born of a human.
• I daydream until I fall asleep.

• "That young girl is terrified!. She can't marry that full-grown man. Please rethink it and cancel all treaties you have made with them when it's still early!. For her sake."
• "I'm sorry but I can't cancel anything. It's too late for that and more to that we need a strong and experienced alpha as Adams to take over Edward. Not any young, stupid kid with no experience she will find at that stupid mate festival!."
• "If so then, she needs to know the truth behind this marriage. I don't think I will be able to keep this secret to myself for long!. I don't know much but I will soon tell her the Little I know!."
• "Don't you dare!. Don't be ridiculous you know what's at stake. We aren't talking about us here!. If you try to talk then...!."
• "Then what?. You will kill me?... After everything we shared?."
• "Yes, that is if you give me no choice!." he retorts with his cold glance fixed on her.
• "We always have a choice!... No matter how much you threaten me, I still believe that she deserves to know the truth!."
• "Which truth?."
• I barge into the kitchen and I find them aggressively whispering to each like thieves quarrel at a crime site. I over hear the word "the truth".
• "Which truth?."
• What are they talking about?
