Chapter 34: Friends

• Sarah walked up the stairs with both her hands occupied by the large tray she was holding. Trixie and Haguy happened to mention a few minutes ago that they were craving fried chicken, but since Damon wasn't home, they weren't sure if they could go get some without his prior permission. Sarah had heard them talking when she passed the living room and immediately saw it as the perfect opportunity to busy herself. The thing is, her mind was doing more work than she could even manage so she needed a getaway.
• Damon had started to treat her somewhat nice and she wasn't sure how she should perceive it. Yesterday she tripped and fell to the floor and he almost dragged her out of the house saying that she needed to go to the infirmary. It was funny how he had watched her fall from a high stair without batting an eye, but was now getting worried over a simple little misstep. And what's worse, he even brought her a whole box of chocolates the day before, claiming that it was a gift and that she should be happy because an alpha king rarely ever shows consideration. Up until now she was still baffled by it.
• What was she to make of this? Did he want them to finally start acting like mates?...or was he simply doing this because he felt guilty for the way he treated her? Or did he lose a few screws after they mated? She hadn't arrived at a solid conclusion as yet, but there was a possibility that her mind would explode sooner or later if she continued to think so hard on it.
