Chapter 5

• Elena woke up and met Harrison in the kitchen trying to cook something.
• He stood there frustrated the only difference is that he burst into tears like Elena.
• “Why is cooking so hard?”, he asked himself and Elena cleared her throat to catch his attention.
• “We both don’t know how to cook, how about we employ a maid”, she said in her coolest voice.
• “I will think about it”, he said.
• He brought eggs from where he kept them to fry. After he fried the egg, the ingredients he added were too much.
• He took a sliced bread and managed to eat and Elena joined him.
• After Harrison left for work, Elena prepared to meet Jason too.
• She gas has never been this excited before.
• She dressed in the English wear that she loved and applied makeup that she hasn’t applied in a while.
• She smiled seeing herself in the mirror.
• “Jason would like me more”, she said.
• Just as she came out of the gate, she saw Jason’s car.
• “Hi”, she greeted shyly.
• “Hi angel, Good morning”, he greeted as he hugged her.
• “Did you sleep well?”, he asked and she nodded even tho she was saying the complete opposite.
• “Shall we?”, he asked opening the door for her.
• “Yes”
• “Have you eaten yet?”
• “Not really”, she replied and he drove to a nearby restaurant.
• Jason stared at Elena as she slowly ate her food. He was tempted to hold her hands and kiss her but he stopped himself.
• “Harrison doesn’t deserve Elena”, he concluded.
• “Why are you staring at me? Aren’t you going to eat your food?”, she asked feeling uncomfortable.
• That was when Jason realized that he has been staring at her.
• After eating, Jason took Elena around the town. They visited the park, cinema and so on.
• Elena didn’t want the say to end because she’s happy whenever she’s with Jason.
• **** Later that day ****
• Lisa sat down frustrated. It was the fourth time that Harrison’s mom called.
• She had been instructed by Harrison not to pick up any call, especially from his mom.
• Lisa sat confused, she didn’t know if she is to pick up the call or ignore the call.
• The last time she ignored her call, she barged into the office and almost sacked her and got into a fight with Harrison because he didn’t want to sack her.
• Lisa released a deep breath and picked up the call.
• “What took you so long to pick up this call? We’re you instructed not to pick up my call?”, she asked angrily over the door that Lisa had to remove the phone from her ear drum.
• “Am sorry Ma, I was working”, she lied.
• “Inform my son that he should check my message or else I will come to his office”, she said and Lisa nodded her head.
• “OK Ma”, she said remembering that she wasn’t there with her.
• Lisa knocked on Harrison’s door but he didn’t reply.
• She knew that he was in a bad mood but she didn’t know what to do.
• He replied when she knocked again.
• “Your mom said that you should check the message she send to you”, she said.
• “Was that why you had to disturb me?”
• “Am sorry sir”, she apologized and she was dismissed.
• *Family meeting 7 pm. Come with Elena, the whole family is coming *
• Harrison groaned when he read his message. He hates reading messages from his mom because, in one way or the other, it ends up annoying him.
• *Am busy and Elena isn’t available *, he replied and that was when his mind went to Elena since he left in the morning.
• “She would be fine”, Harrison said less concerned.
• *You are not missing this dinner for anything, see you at 7*
• Harrison ruffled his hair in annoyance. He hates family meetings.
• Harrison checked the time it was already 6 pm. He wanted to message Elena but he realized that he doesn’t have her phone number.

• *Family dinner 7 pm *
• “What happened?”, Elena asked noticing the change of mood on his face.
• “There is a family meeting”, he replied.
• “Is it the whole family or just your parents?”
• “No…. it is every McCall”, he replied and Elena’s eyes widened after realizing that, she’s also a McCall.
• “Then it means I am invited too”, she said.
• “Yeah…. With Harrison”, he said with a low voice.
• “That means I need to be home, maybe Harrison is home already”, she said looking at the time.
• “Why? You don’t want him to know you went out?”
• “He asked me not to see you again…... . he said I should avoid you”, she answered.
• “Did he say why?”
• “I don’t know…... . Maybe because he’s still angry with you”, she replied innocently.
• “Too late Harrison, what you were avoiding has happened and there’s nothing you can do about it”, he thought and smirked.
• “Harrison might not come and that means you won’t either”, Jason said.
• “Why?”
• “I don’t care but he doesn’t attend meetings but maybe he will come…. I don’t know”, he replied.
• “Don’t worry we are coming, I will try to convince him?” Elena said.
• “Let me drop you off”, he offered and she nodded.
• ** 7:40 pm **
• Harrison mansion
• “Where did you go to?”, Harrison asked Elena who entered the house.
• “You are back?’, she said more like a statement.
• “That is not the answer to my question”, he cut in sharply.
• “I was out with some friends”, she lied and Harrison studied her for a while.
• “Inform me when you are going out next time, there is a family meeting tonight, Go get dressed”, he said and went upstairs
• Elena went to her room quietly but in her mind, she was dancing because she was going to see Jason again.
• She took a bath and applied make-up like she did earlier but this time it was less.
• She checked herself countless times I’m the mirror.
• By the time she came out, it was past 7 and she met Harrison in the living room staring at nothing.
• She cleared her throat and he turned to her. The way he looked at her made her feel uncomfortable.
• He stared at her from up to down because he talked.
• “Let’s go”
• *McCall mansion*
• Everyone member of the McCall was seated except for Harrison and Elena who were yet to come.
• The McCall always sit according to their position in the family.
• Abel McCall(Harrison’s dad), Evelyn McCall (Harrison’s mom), Ryan McCall(Jason’s dad), Ester McCall(Jason’s mom), Ariana McCall, Harrison and then Jason.
• But now that Harrison is married, Elena would sit before Jason.
• Ariana McCall is the youngest sister of Abel McCall (Harrison’s aunt). She is not married yet, she wasn’t around for the wedding, she travelled for business and she has returned.
• She was the only one who understood Harrison since he was a child but since he went to Greece he lost contact with her.
• “Did you message Harrison?”, Abel asked his wife.
• “Yes”
• “Call Elena”, he said and Evelyn dialled Elena’s number.
• “Hi dear”, she greeted.
• “Hi Mrs Evelyn”, she replied.
• “Are you guys on your way here already?”
• “Yeah …… Almost”, she replied.
• “With Harrison?”, she asked to confirm because she knew Harrison might not come.
• “Yes”
• “OK then”, she said and hung up.
• Ariana excused herself to pick up a call.
• Not quite long Harrison and Elena arrived. The difference on their face was clear.
• Harrison was moody and angry that he had to come and Elena on the other hand was very excited.
• “Hi son I have missed you”, she said as he hugged him but he didn’t even return the hug.
• After hugging Harrison she moved to Elena.
• “Son you are welcome”, Abel said and Harrison only nodded.
• He went and sat down then Elena joined him.
• “Harrison!!!”, she called surprised to see how grown up he was already.
• Harrison saw Ariana, he was tempted to hug her but he restrained himself.
• After all, she also abandoned him like the others.
• She hugged him but he didn’t even move his hands and Ariana saw the change in him.
• She knew he was no longer the sane Harrison anymore.
• “I have missed you so much”, she said almost crying and Harrison still didn’t move.
• “How have you been?”, she asked but he didn’t reply.
• He wasn’t even looking at her.
• “Was this why you called for this damn meeting?”, he said angrily facing his parents.
• Ariana was shocked by what she heard, he didn’t not only behave like she didn’t exist, he talked to his parents harshly.
• Not only Ariana was shocked, Elena too.
• Her hatred for Harrison only increased by seeing him in this way.
• “I guess that Elena hasn’t met Ariana and Jason”, Evelyn Said trying not to make the atmosphere tense.
• “This is Ariana( Harrison’s aunt ). She didn’t attend your wedding because he travelled”, she introduced and Elena smiled at her and Ariana smiled back.
• “And this is Jason, the youngest in the family ……. No, I think he’s the youngest after you. He’s the only son of Ryan and Ester, he also lived in Greece with Harrison”, she said and Jason stretched his hand for a handshake.
• Elena only smile, she knew he was acting like he is just meeting her for the first time.
• Elena stretched her hand to shake him.
• “It had been a while since we had a family dinner like this”, Abel said but no one said anything.
• Ariana’s gaze never left Harrison, Elena and Jason kept sending messages to each other through signals, Ryan was looking at his son and Elena suspiciously and Harrison just stared at nothing as usual.
• The dinner was served and everyone started eating except Harrison. He kept looking at the food like poison.
• He excused himself and left the dining table.
• He went to the room he stayed in before he left for Greece. The memory came flashing back and tears filled his eyes. It threatened to fall but he held back the tears.
• His phone rang and it was Tom that was calling.
• “Sammy was shot and he is in a critical condition”, he said.
• “What happened to him? How did he get shot?”, he asked confused.
• “He was on his mission, he was spying on the black jaguars and I think he got caught, he’s …….
• “Which hospital?”, he cut in.
• “The one close to the secret house”, he replied and Harrison hung up immediately.
• * Sammy is shot and am going to the hospital now *
• He messaged his boss.
• * Is Sammy more important than your family dinner? *
• When Harrison saw the message he was disappointed. Disappointed.
• “Elena let’s go”, he said when he got to the dining table.
• Everyone just stared at him.
• “What’s going on Harrison?”, Evelyn asked but he ignored her.
• “I said let’s go, am sure you are not deaf”, he yelled and everyone stared at him perplexed.
• “Is something wrong?”, Abel asked but he concentrated on Elena who stood up to meet him.
• “Where are you going to Harrison? Can’t it wait till after dinner?”, Ryan asked and Harrison just glared at him and left with Elena.
• Harrison and Elena entered the car and he drove off. He drove at the speed that Elena started screaming.
• “Are you crazy? Can’t we see that we are going to die?”, she screamed as she put on the seat belt.
• But Harrison didn’t answer. What he kept thinking about was far from what Elena was saying.
• Elena looked at Harrison and his eyes were red like he just finished crying.
• “Are you stupid? If you want to die, die alone Harrison”, she shouted but he couldn’t even hear her.
• Before Elena understood what was happening, they had gotten home.
• She was surprised at how fast they reached home.
• “Get down from the car!”, he ordered without even looking at her.
• “No…. I want to go to where you are going to”, Elena said stubbornly.
• “Get down from the car”, he said icily.
• “Am going with you”, she said and Harrison drove off with Elena.
