Chapter 6

  • MAYRA'S POV
  • "Can we leave now?" I asked but he ignored.
  • Why is he so difficult?  I closed my eyes and let out a small breath.
  • "When will you marry me?" I dig my nails on my thigh and after gathering lots of courage, I finally asked him the question which bothered me from so long.
  • He shot his eyebrows upward.  "Desperate, are we?"
  • I shook my head.
  • "I was just curious." I replied and he let out a chuckle, throwing his head back.
  • "I have to attend a medical seminar so I'll be out of the country for a week or so-" But before I could complete my sentence, he grabbed my wrist and took me out of the restaurant.
  • When we reached his house, he placed his arm around my waist, pulling me closer to his side.
  • "Just walk." He said and I nodded.
  • My jaw dropped in awe at the beautiful sight of his mansion.
  • "Close your mouth, you might catch flies."
  • I pressed my lips together when he sat on his couch and gestured me to do so. He then pulled out his cell phone and called someone.  "Vishal, I want you to arrange my wedding in next two days."
  • I blinked,
  • Once.
  • Twice
  • Thrice.
  • Deep breaths.
  • "What?" I asked.
  • He pushed me to the wall, trapping me with his hands. My breath hitched up and heart started beating, a little faster.
  • "Are you scared of me?" He smirked.
  • "N-no." I shuttered. In a second his signature smirk disappeared and with a flat look he brought his body dangerous close to me. In this cold temperature, my body started sweating.
  • "Tell me, are you scared of me?" He repeated his question. And this time my tongue rolled out to say "Yes."
  • "You should be Mayra. Believe me you'll never be able to live happily with me." He whispered, his voice holding so much of pain.
  • He averted his eyes away from me and looked over his shoulder. I cupped his face into my palms and forced him to look into my eyes.
  • "I will be happy as long as the nightmare whom I am getting married will be happy." I whispered softly while holding my gaze with him and after listening to me, he twitches the corner of his lips into smirk, letting me go from his hold.
  • "You are not going to attend any seminar in fact you will resign from hospital after our marriage." He said his words in a serious way making my mind numb.
  • My job is my life.
  • I love helping people in this way, I love advising them, I love making them move away from their traumas, I love giving them new hope but he is saying to stop all that.
  • I can't. I can't say no to my job.
  • "No I will not, I love my job." I opposed him sternly but he just chuckled in response.
  • "You are getting married to me, married to Rehan Malhotra, the billionaire, so why do you need money from your so called job?" Tears rolls down from my eyes after hearing his words.
  • How can I tell him that everything is not related to money sometimes for the sake of happiness, we do things?
  • "I don't do my job for the money." I said directly to him while wiping my tears away.
  • "Is it so? No problem dear fiancé, you can do your job."
  • I smiled, a little.
  • "But only after you'll get spare time from doing household works." He said and I nodded in agreement.
  • So, two days. I smiled at myself nervously. In next two days, my life will be going to change completely. In 2 days I am going to be married with Rehan.
  • I inhaled air sharply and started looking here and there. I looked over my cell phone, catching 3 messages of Vishal.
  • Vishal: How's your date going Barbie doll?
  • Vishal: oh, you are busy with your fiancé so much that you are now neglecting your friend?
  • Vishal: What happened between you two that Rehan just called me, ordering to arrange his wedding in 2 days? I am damn curious.
  • I smiled at his messages. He and his teasing games.
  • Me: curiosity kills the cat.
  • Vishal: Barbie doll, stop mocking me otherwise if I will start then you will definitely cry like a small child.
  • Vishal, you are really stupid! I said to myself and after placing my cell phone on silent mode, I looked at Rehan who was now drinking the alcohol.
  • "Sit." He directed to me and I followed his words into action.
  • I shifted uncomfortably under his gaze while looking down at the bed sheet.
  • "Who are you?" He asked me rapidly and I just bite on my lower lips in nervousness.
  • "You know, staying with me means playing with fire. Aren't you scared of getting burned?" I lifted my eyes up to meet his but there were no emotions in them.
  • "But I want to be near you." He whispers softly, shifting closer to me, leaving me in the state of complete shock.
  • He wants to be near me?  I gulped down slowly, trying to normal the pace of my heart.
  • "You want to know why?" Once again he whispers, leaning closer to my ear. I nodded after keeping my eyes shut tightly.
  • "Because I -" He was about to say something but he left his words hanging in between.
  • I can still sense his presence near my ears and his warm breath which tingled all over my neck making me impossible to open my eyes.
  • "Because I also don't know." He said in disappointment, pulling himself back from me to his initial position.
  • My eyes went open and I saw him scratching the back of his neck. Relax Mayra, he is drunk. So he didn't meant a single word which he said. I tried myself to calm down but the eruptions of thousands of butterflies inside my belly were hard to ignore.
  • How could he has such a strong effect on me?
  • Breathe in. Breathe out. Deep breaths.
  • One. Two three. Four.
  • "Rehan sleep, it's almost midnight." I tried to change the subject but a frown crossed his face.
  • "I can't." He said in a monotonous voice.
  • "Why?" I questioned him instantly but instead of replying me, he let out a dark chuckle.
  • "Rehan?"
  • "I want a break."
  • I raised my eyebrows at him in a gesture to elaborate what he said.
  • "I never remember anything next morning after drinking." He said calmly.
  • "I want a break from you. JUST LEAVE ME ALONE." After that suddenly his tone changes to usual but this time, I simply nodded and with that I left his room.
  • ***
  • "Vishal, I don't know." I said with a straight face.
  • "Rehan, you tell." He then questioned Rehan and he shrugged his shoulder in response.
  • "Anyone is going to tell me that how am I supposed to arrange everything in just 2 days?" Vishal shouted, glaring at me and then at Rehan.
  • "I am not going to attend your wedding." He announced while throwing his hand up in surrender.
  • "As your wish." Rehan muttered in a plain tone and I started smiling at Vishal who was fuming in frustration.
  • "Mayra, do you have a death wish just before your wedding?" Vishal said.
  • I shook my head, trying my best to control my laughter.
  • "Sir, you called me?" Suddenly an unfamiliar voice caught my attention.
  • I looked over the direction and spot a woman at the corner of the door. Her hairs were cascading down her shoulders and she wore a short blue dress and high heels. She seems more like a model. She is really pretty. Her gaze met with mine and I smiled at her in greeting but she scrunched her nose up and rolled her eyes in annoyance.
  • "Tara?" Vishal whispers with a questioning look and his body started stiffening.
  • So she is Tara.
  • I came out from my thought when I found Rehan making a face at Vishal who was staring at Tara.
  • "Oh, miss STD transmitter is here." Vishal taunts.
  • "Vishal, language." I warned him.
  • "You don't have any right to insult her like this." I said to him and by throwing his hands in air, he rushed outside.
  • As soon as Vishal stepped outside, Tara comes closer to Rehan and whispered something in his ear.
  • "Mayra right?" She came to me and greeted with a hug. I smiled back in response.
  • "Are you sure about marrying him? If yes then let me warn you that it will be one of the worst decision of your life." She winked.
  • Huh?
