Chapter 6 My Father Was An Alfe

  • I gulped listening to my mother speak so knowledgeably. I now wanted to know everything about my life even though it was scary.
  • " you see my darling, humans have always talked about us without much conviction for the majority. They were just stories for their myths and urban legends but they do exist. These legends were born from the fact that some humans glimpsed our existence centuries ago and now it has fed their tale. Vampires, lycanthropes, witches, and even Goblins, all these creatures that we believe come from the imagination of novelists exist and I think I have given you the proof of it, don't I?."
  • I nodded and she continued.
  • "There are many species apart from those I mentioned but since those are the most famous, I only stopped there. There is a species that has always been taboo even among creatures that we are. They are, I would say, the race to be slaughtered and they have the hatred of the others who hunt them and kill them without pity."
  • My mother looked sad for a moment before blowing.
  • " Are they dangerous to the point of attracting so much hatred?"
  • My mother bit her lip hard until it bled before frowning.
  • "There is no sweeter and better than them. If they are hated, it is because they are powerful, they have a power that frightens other species and out of jealousy, they have been persecuted and discriminated against. But I swear to you sweetie, these beings are the sweetest there are, in addition to being breathtakingly beautiful once they are confident enough to reveal themself to you."
  • "What about fairies? Elves?"
  • "Haha no .... Elves are a deformation ... My dear, I will not beat around the bush, as you know, I am of the race of lycanthropes but I had in my youth a forbidden love with a man of the most hated species of all creatures. Sophia, your father was an alfe, a magnificent being unjustly persecuted by my peers and many others."
  • "An alfe? It's like an elf?"
  • " Again elf is a deformation. The Alves because of their particular power which approaches the divine frightened the other races. They were both of the power of the sun but also had more sinister abilities that scared others. Being able to give so many blessings through the fertility of women, life, health, and even the fertility of the land, the Alves were also able to affix death and curse. Even witches paled in comparison to such power. This aroused hatred and jealousy and their race was persecuted through the ages to such an extent that their race was believed to be extinct. The Alves now lived in small communities of barely ten individuals if not solitary. And no matter how strong you are, once you're alone you're vulnerable. That's how I met your father.
  • His village had just been attacked by an alliance between a neighboring pack, some vampires, and witches. He was the sole survivor and was badly beaten up."
  • My mother chuckled before blushing her tender face.
  • " I remember I had just passed into adulthood and had just undergone my first transformation. I was running through the woods excited by the wolf sensations inside me and I couldn't help but feel..."
  • " Free?"
  • My mother looked at me and nodded.
  • " Your transformation has already begun..."
  • She made a sad face before continuing.
  • " I was running when the smell of blood caught my attention and I decided to go and see. There on the edge of a river lay the body of a creature that I had been told about just in a story the evenings before sleeping. But I did not need an explanation to know that in front of me, lay unconscious an alfe. He was as black as pitch and his body was particularly fine for a male, well that was my reflection. It was undoubtedly a black alfe, the most dangerous of their kind. I certainly should have killed him on the spot or failing that, brought him back to the pack, but I didn't resolve to do so. He seemed to be in so much pain from his injuries and the moment I decided to approach him, I saw him crying. He asked forgiveness from his brothers for having abandoned them and wanted to join them. I don't know... At that moment I felt something deep in my heart that I had never felt before and I decided to heal him despite the hatred and hostility that should have existed between us. I took him to a place out of sight and out of my pack's patrols, and I nursed him back to health. Every day, I was busy giving him the care he needed to regain his strength even if I could feel his hostility toward me. He was probably wondering what a werewolf like me had in mind to heal him instead of just killing him. I spent several weeks making sure he recovered because the alves certainly have great mystical power but physically, they are the weakest creatures that exist, even humans are stronger than them haha."
  • My mother made a sad face again before stroking her hand.
  • " He did not speak to me when I started the discussion, purposely avoided my gaze, and kept a great distance from me. During all the time I spent with him, he didn't want to talk to me... But something happened that made me fall in love with him.
  • I had arrived as usual in the hiding place and I had not found him. He had slipped away and that made me sad. On the one hand, it meant he was healthy but on the other hand, I will never see him again. In my immense sadness, I walked aimlessly and in the opposite direction to my pack finding myself in the territory of renegade witches. They were three against me and I knew I would be torn to pieces even before I could react. But when they were about to take my life, he came to save me despite the danger. He fought for me and saved me at the cost of his safety. I still had to heal him but just the fact that he didn't consider his frail body for me won me over and I didn't go through all the stops to tell him that I loved him.
  • You can imagine his surprise. However, he accepted my feelings and revealed his true appearance to me. He was like in the legends, as beautiful as the sun. We started a forbidden romantic relationship without anyone knowing but the problems came quickly."
