• “What do you think?” I’d asked Pearl as soon as I saw her that Monday morning after I’d pulled the prank on Mrs. Summers. The next words she said weren’t what I was expecting. The plan was not to put her into trouble, all I’d wanted to do was make her smile and have a great week. I wasn’t expecting her to react that way and when she did, I didn’t have any other choice than to use my own harsh words to cover up the way her words hurt me.
