Chapter 14 I’m Not Calling You Uncle

  • Naturally, Morgan heard her mumbling which sounded like a wronged little cat. He realized that she was quite adept at taking hints, for she instantly went quiet after noticing his darkened face and stern demeanor.
  • Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed that Chloe was sitting on the couch with her lips pouted and her eyes downcast. She looked simply pitiful—it seemed as though she had been wrongfully blamed for something she hadn’t done and was asking for consolation.
  • What a quick-witted cat she was—hot tempered one minute and miserable the next. Thus, he was curious as to how many different sides of her that he had yet to discover.
  • Morgan carried all the boxes inside and shut the door with a bang, and the noise made Chloe jolt upright.
  • She didn’t know if it was due to her naturally paranoid personality, but Chloe would always put her guard up whenever she was alone in a room with Morgan; it seemed like she was cautious that he would do something shady to her anytime.
  • Perhaps the atmosphere between them had always carried a sense of peculiarity during the many times that they had met in the past, enabling her imagination to run wild.
  • Her eyes darted around and looked for Morgan before she averted them almost immediately. He seemed to be bending down and looking for something in the kitchen.
  • Though it was just a quick glance, her breath was taken away.
  • Morgan had taken off his jacket; he was wearing a black silk shirt underneath which was tucked neatly into a pair of classy slacks. As he bent down, the taut fabric of his shirt accentuated his lean and sturdy figure, and his legs appeared long and slim without losing any of its masculine charm.
  • Realizing her thoughts, she wanted nothing more than to slap herself to death. As she shook her head frantically and clutched her head with her hands, Chloe hissed to herself and said, “Stop thinking about things like this, you sl*t!”
  • Just then, Morgan turned around and spotted Chloe hitting her head foolishly with her fists while muttering to herself.
  • A slight frown appeared between his brows as he quickly went up to grab her fist. “Are you into self-abuse?”
  • Huh?
  • Chloe lifted her chin slowly, and they eventually made eye contact.
  • There was a hint of innocent astonishment in her eyes which seemed like a startled bunny.
  • Morgan tried to suppress the strange urge that came over him and let go of her hand immediately. Then, he sat down right before her on the coffee table in front of the couch. As his slender figure sat on the higher piece of furniture, Chloe noticed that he appeared a lot taller than her at the moment.
  • However, the space between the coffee table and the couch was too narrow for him to extend his long legs, so he had to sit with his legs spread out. From Chloe’s point of view, it was as though she was seated right between his legs. Sure enough, his knees were on either side of her; the way she was positioned right now, she was right under his range of control.
  • Their position was undoubtedly suggestive, not to mention the way this simple position had such a manly appeal to it that Chloe couldn’t help but avoid his eyes.
  • As such, her cheeks flushed immediately.
  • On the other hand, Morgan didn’t seem to notice her behavior and only ducked his head as he fumbled through the first aid kit. Eventually, he found what he was looking for and handed it to Chloe.
  • Chloe cast a weird look at the bottle of antiseptic ointment in his hand, for she was a little puzzled.
  • “Why…?”
  • Morgan smirked. “Didn’t you hurt your butt? Do you want me to put it on for you right now or do you want to do it on your own in the bathroom?”
  • His tone became a little playful during the second half of his question and Chloe turned red again with embarrassment.
  • She quickly grabbed the bottle from his hand. “I’ll do it myself!”
  • With that, she stood up with great force. She had completely forgotten about her fall from earlier and the sudden jerk filled her with pain that she couldn’t straighten up. Almost instantly, she fell back onto the couch miserably.
  • Morgan was about to help her, but before he could do so, she had already fallen face first onto the couch.
  • This position of hers was… so tempting!
  • Chloe was so flustered that she didn’t want to face him, and she would rather become invisible or jump into a hole to hide herself.
  • “What you mean is… All right, I get it. I’ll help you!”
  • Morgan took the bottle from her hands and scooched closer to her, his hand reaching out for her pants.
  • “Stop!”
  • Chloe’s hands flew to her belt as her muffled cry came from under the cushion.
  • “Give me the medicine. I’ll do it myself!”
  • Chloe extended an arm behind her with her palm facing upward.
  • Morgan smiled as he stared at Chloe who was shy and overcome with self-consciousness. At that moment, he felt a strong urge to tease her.
  • “Just let me help you. I mean, you can’t even stand up. How are you going to get to the bathroom? Come on, move your hand…”
  • As he spoke, he reached out to her hand on her belt and Chloe could feel the coolness of his fingertips grazing against her skin.
  • Holy sh*t!
  • “No, no, no! Give it back!” Chloe was on the verge of tears. Why did she always have to embarrass herself in front of him?! She felt like an idiot!
  • “Haha…” Morgan laughed heartily. His laugh was genuine and came from his chest—it had a magnetic ring to it.
  • Chloe turned her head abruptly while still lying flat on the couch; she glared at him as he continued to drown in fits of laughter. Then, she finally realized that this man had tricked her!
  • Damn it!
  • Chloe glared at him with daggers in her eyes and snatched the bottle of antiseptic ointment from his clutch. Then, she jumped down from the couch and gritted her teeth in pain as she limped toward the bathroom. How embarrassing…
  • Even after she had locked herself in the bathroom, Morgan’s laughter rang loudly outside in the living room. F*ck, is it that funny? Go ahead and laugh! I hope you laugh to death!
  • The woman in the mirror looked a little flustered and bashful with her cheeks blushing and eyes cloudy with spite—Chloe didn’t even realize it herself.
  • As she prepared to leave the bathroom after putting on the ointment, she hesitated for a while. The antiseptic medication had a strong odor to it; it wouldn’t have been a problem if it was applied elsewhere, but since the smell came directly from her butt, it felt like… she was trying to hide the fact that she had let out a fart.
  • It would be too awkward!
  • Meanwhile, Morgan was lounging on the couch with his legs crossed; he was studying some documents when he noticed Chloe coming out of the bathroom with an embarrassed look on her face. Just then, the sharp odor of the ointment hit his nose and he instantly knew what was behind her unnatural behavior.
  • “There are two rooms here. The first one is mine and the one next to it is yours.”
  • Chloe took a look behind her and saw that there were indeed two doors. Sure enough, this was the only unit that was larger than the others since it was on the top floor of the apartment building. There were two bedrooms along with a living room, kitchen, and bathroom, which was considered luxurious for a school facility.
  • Chloe walked to her pile of luggage quietly and carried her bags into her room one by one. Her spacious room was more than sufficient for her alone.
  • After she put everything in place and tidied up her room, Chloe went outside and stood far away from Morgan before she asked stiffly, “What do I do now, Mr. Dixon?”
  • Mr. Dixon? It sounds kind of formal—that’s not good.
  • “Morgan. You can call me by my name.”
  • Morgan didn’t answer her question but said something completely unrelated.
  • “You want me to call you by your name? That’s a horrible idea—we aren’t even close! Also, we’re merely teacher and student,” said Chloe. “In that case, how about I call you Uncle then?” After all, he was in fact Harry’s uncle.
  • “I’ve only heard girls refer to guys as their brother but never their uncle. I refuse!”
  • Sh*t! Chloe was speechless at his odd suggestion. She wasn’t that keen on calling him that either!
  • “What do I do now, Old man?”
  • Old man? I’m only 28—I’m not that old, Morgan thought to himself.
  • “Think of something else!”
  • F*ck!
  • “Lunatic.”
  • “No!”
  • “B*stard!”
  • “Nope!”
  • “Savage beast!” suggested Chloe.
  • “Think carefully about the next one, or the consequences will be on you,” Morgan threatened ominously all of a sudden, a certain eeriness glowing in his eyes.
  • She was about to call him a pervert, but she stopped herself after hearing his words and gulped instead.
  • “F-Fine then, I’ll just call you Morgan.”
  • Morgan… That’s not too bad.
  • “Good girl!”
