• In the evening, the couple went to a food street and picked a roadside stall for dinner before ordering a few of the stall's signature stir-fries. The stir-fried clams were so spicy that Tia nearly had trouble closing her mouth. She wasn't good at eating spicy food. After eating a few mouthfuls of the clams, she hurriedly looked for something to drink to alleviate the spiciness. It wasn't until she downed two big glasses of water that the numbing spiciness in her mouth eased a little.
• Lewis bought some draft beer—the kind that were packaged in bags rather than bottled ones—and let Tia have a taste of it, but she didn't taste anything special about it. After all, whatever kind of liquor tasted the same for a nondrinker.
• There were many couples on the street in the evening, including Tia and Lewis, and the pleasure of mingling with the crowd made them feel very comfortable.
