Chapter 6

  • "Why are you waiting here outside?"
  • She didn't have to think twice whoever owns that voice because she's certain that it was Jacob.
  • She turned around to see him, hands in his pockets. He didn't wear a black suit and tie like he always did. Right now he wore a denim jacket, a white shirt and some faded blue jeans--- and he was wearing a topsiders.
  • Damn.
  • Tatiana swallowed that unfamiliar lump on her throat, gaining back her composure.
  • "Mr. Zobel is still in a meeting. Besides, I was twenty minutes earlier."
  • He hasn't seen her in over a month. For him, it was torture. If before he could live by just seeing her old photograph for nine years, now he could not.
  • Every night and day he fantasizes about  holding her into his arms, claiming her luscious lips and making love to her, it made him so hard to sleep.
  • "You should've headed straight to my office to wait for the VP. There's a passcode though, our birthday." He casually said like it was something so natural. Yes, they share the same birth date. February 22. It was one of the first things they talked about when they first met.
  • A fate, just what Jacob thought when he found out. It's a fate to find someone who loves the beach like him, loves art, and has the same birthday like him.
  • "Thanks for the invitation but I prefer waiting here, the air's much fresh in here. No toxins.”
  • He heard her making him laugh. He crossed his arms into his chest. “Are you saying my office is toxic, Attorney?
  • Why, Tatiana Kristine, you cannot stand to be in the same room with me now?"
  • When perhaps you can't even live without me before?
  • "I never said any of that. Forget about what I said. I just want to wait here." She said, totally bored about having a conversation with this man. He may be endlessly fascinating to every other girl, but you see, she knows he's just trying to charm her. If it worked years ago, this time ay hindi na. She knows him too much.
  • "Tatiana, I have to say this. You look beaut--"
  • "Jake!"
  • They both turned around to see whoever owns that voice. She looked behind to see a woman walking towards him. She was a brunette, tall, fair and gorgeous. The sophisticated woman wore a dress that hugged her body.
  • She's sure this is one of his women. She looks exactly like his type.
  • Tatiana saw how Jacob lit up when he swe the woman.
  • "Mia! I was supposed to go down." He smiled.
  • "I got bored.” She pouted, then clinging into his arms. "So where are we going, restaurant?”
  • "Japanese, perhaps? I wanna eat sushi.” Jacob said.
  • She felt like an air. Like Jacob forgot about her existence.
  • She wanted to roll her eyes. For a second he was flirting with her and then the next, he's with another woman.
  • He didn't dress like that for you, Tatiana. And he didn't charm you.
  • You assumed too much. The voice in her head told her.
  • She knew she shouldn't be thinking about these things. They were long done. She's with Jerome now. She has a kid. Jacob on the other hand can date whoever he likes to date.
  • "Oh by the way, this is Tatiana Falcon, my corporate lawyer." Jacob introduced her. Wow. So he remembers she's right here.
  • The girl named Mia extended her hand, "You must be related to the Falcons."
  • "I am their daughter." Tatiana smiled at her. "It's nice to meet you?"
  • "Miana Artates. Actually, it's Miana Shaw before I got married."
  • She was so shocked. She knew her eyes widened making Jacob chuckle.
  • "I'm sorry?"
  • Tatiana saw how Miana's eyes sparkled with amusement. "Jacob's my brother."
  • They left leaving her completely stunned.
  • Seriously.
  • She forgot he had a sister. She would never have thought that was her sister. She was clingy, and he was known as a playboy. She's not malicious but she can't be blamed for thinking like that.
  • I
  • t only dawned to her when she realized they had the same color of eyes, the one her son has, too.
  • She heaved out a sigh. She's so sorrounded by people who has blue eyes!
  • Jacob was grinning like an idiot while he was driving.
  • "That lawyer of yours, she's the woman at the restaurant." His sister said.
  • "Yeah."
  • "You have hots for her? Are you having an affair with your lawyer? Goodness, Jake. I know she's gorgeous, but you should be professional."
  • Affair? jeez. She's my wife. He wanted to say
  • "I'm not having an affair with her."
  • "Then what, then?"
  • Jacob shrugged. "So you find her gorgeous?”
  • "You don't have hots for her, but here you're asking if she's really pretty. But to answer your question, yes, she is. And she looks smart. Not like those models you go out with that can only showcase their body. ” she rolled her eyes. “Plus she's a lawyer.”
  • She knows something's going on with the two. She was there listening. They haven't noticed her because they were so engaged in their conversation. Miana saw the way he was looking at the woman, she's never seen him look at anybody like that.
  • “Why were you fighting with her in the restaurant, anyway? She's your lawyer, Jake. You shouldn't be fighting with her.”
  • Jacob gave her a shrug. "Something petty."
  • It was nine in the evening when she went home.
  • His eyes lit up when he saw her. "Mommy!"
  • He ran into her arms and she carried him. At eight, he's still so clingy.
  • "Hello baby." She kissed his forehead. "How was your school?"
  • "Was fine, mom. I was asked by my teacher to join the art contest.”
  • "Wow, you're so much like your fathe-" she trailed off when she realized what she could've said. "Like your daddy Jerome.”
  • "Of course, mom. I wanna be an engineer like him. You know, build houses like I do with my legos."
  • She smiled. "You have all the time to think about that, you can be whatever you want, son. Just as long as it does not harm you, okay?"
  • He can even be a tattoo artist if he wanted.
  • Just like Jacob, he said if they made it out of that island and go to cebu, he will earn money by being a tattoo artist. He's not used to heavy works. She can still recall when he worked as a porter. He'd carry heavy boxes. He'd go home with dirty and calloused hands. It was hard for him.
  • "Mom?" Julian's voice pulled her out of her thoughts. "What are you thinking of?"
  • "Just some happy memories." She answered. “Did you eat already, baby?”
  • Her phone rang from her bag, it was her boyfriend.
  • "I miss you." He said when she answered.
  • "Hey. We miss you too. Where are you?"
  • "I'm in the airport, I have a flight to US, I'll be back next two weeks. I need to check the site there." She heard him sigh.
  • Jerome hated traveling. He always gets motion sickness.
  • She wished she was there to pack his clothes and medicines. She likes arranging his things when he's going away for business trips.
  • “Take care, okay? Did you bring some emergency meds? Take it before the flight. You always get sick, Jerome.”
  • "Yes mam." She heard him laugh. "I know you're worried but I'm fine, I'll be fine. I might not call much, I'll be extremely busy when I get there, love.”
  • "I understand. Do you want to talk to Julian? This young man misses you so much."
  • She watched him talk to Jerome and her heart was filled with happiness. Julian laughs a lot when he's with Jerome.
  • Sometimes, she wonders how her son would feel if he ever meets his real father. She wonders how Jacob would feel about it. Would he be happy to know that they had a child?
  • Even when Jacob's a douche, Tatiana knows he's a good man. Though, he never really talked about kids when they were together. It's not like they planned to have Julian.
  • "SHIT." She cussed when her car stopped in a highway. Tatiana went out of her car to find her tire flat.
  • Tatiana couldn't help but scowl. She was just supposed to take her dress for the ball.
  • She called her brother but he wasn't picking up. Maybe he was still in a surgery.
  • She stood there waiting for a cab, but since she lives on a country side a few miles away from the city, most of the passerby are trucks and private vehicle. Some drivers would even stop and catcall her.
  • Fucking perverts.
  • Thankfully, she's in a blouse and jeans so she sat on the hood of her car.
  • She was waiting there for half an hour already, when a red mustand stopped infront of her. She was so stunned when she saw Jacob. He looked so serious, as if he wasn't happy at all to see her.
  • "What happened?" He asked.
  • "What do you think happened?" She sarcastically threw back.
  • Jacob's jaw clenched. He checked her tires. “You shouldn't be standing here, it's a freaking highway, what if you get harrassed? You're all alone here.” he said angrily. It's been a while since she have seen him mad.
  • "Did you even try calling the emergency hotline? Or your boyfriend? Get in the car." He opened the passenger's door for her.
  • "The hell would I get in your car." She mumbled, but Jacob heard her clearly.
  • "Get in the car, Tatiana. Are you crazy? Don't tell me you're staying here?” he raised an eyebrow. “Get in the damn car, Tati.”
  • But she didn't move an inch. He could cuss all he want or shout but she's not getting in his car. She would rather stay here.
  • “I said I don't want to. Just go, Jacob. I wont come with you. I don't need your help, okay? "
  • She heard him click his tongue. His patience is wearing thin. Jacob isn't a very patient man.
  • "Get in the damn car, Tatiana. You drop that childish behavior or I'll drag you inside."
  • "Try, and I'll sue you." Pang hahamon nito sa kanya.
  • "Fuck! What the hell is your problem?you'll only get inside my car! Whyx Tatiana, you cant stand me that much you can't stand being in the same car with me? You hate me that much, Tatiana?!"  He was shouting.
  • She looked at him. His chest heaving up and down and his face is flushed. She knew she has royally pissed him off. Still, she looked at him with cold eyes. "No."
  • He was silent for a while before he kicked the side of his car, making her jump. “Suit yourself.” he yelled and drove away.
