Chapter 5 Justin's Regrets

  • The moment the words had left his mouth, he had instantly regretted it, but he could not take it back.
  • The look on her face, still haunted him to this day and he knew that he had hurt her and that was the last thing he had meant to do..
  • He had wanted to apologise to her the next day, but he had errands to run for his mum and by the time he did get to their house she had left.
  • He hadn’t even been aware that she was leaving, and he couldn’t help but wonder if her leaving had anything to do with him.
  • He had felt really horrible and when he heard that she was coming back home, he knew that he needed to apologise to her so that he could put the past behind him.
  • She had only tried to advise him about something that he already knew, and he had snapped at her because his ego had been bruised and he had been angry that her cousin had upset his carefully laid plans.
  • He looked around and saw that the guests had started to arrive. The party was going to start in a short while and Trisha had still not arrived. His palms were sweaty, and he felt nervous at the thought of seeing her.
  • He was so confused by the way he was feeling. This was his best friend’s sister that he knew from the time she was born.
  • He had watched her grow up and now he was nervous at the thought of meeting her after five years. He put it down to the fact that the last time he had seen her he had hurt her.
  • Kyle approached him, “Let’s go sit. The formalities are about to begin. Rakesh has a table reserved for us at the front.”
  • They both walked to the front of the room, just as Rahul, who was the MC for tonight’s function, started to ask everyone to take their seats.
  • All his other friends had brought their partners, except for him and Amith. Amith was had just ended his relationship with his girlfriend of six months as she wanted them to get engaged and Amith did not see her as wife material.
  • He, on the other hand never dated a girl for more than three months. He never found anyone that could capture his interest for longer than that. Most times he was bored after the second date.
  • Justin took his seat and looked around, when suddenly his eyes landed on a familiar face, and he silently groaned. Simran was seated at a table a few feet away.
  • Luckily her father was seated next to her, else she would have come over to sit at their table and right now Justin was not in the mood to be annoyed by her.
  • She just would not leave him alone. Ever since her divorce had been finalised, she had started pursuing him, making it very clear that she wanted him to be husband number two.
  • He quickly shifted his glance to the door where the rest of Kumar family were entering. Just before Rakesh's parents could enter, the most beautiful angel he had ever seen entered scattering rose petals and followed by Rakesh's two nephews and niece.
  • His mouth felt dry, he felt like he had lost the ability to breath or think straight. No woman had ever made him feel like this.
  • “Can you believe that is little Trisha. She has grown into a really stunning woman,” Kyle whispered in his ear. Justin felt like punching Kyle in the face for even looking at her.
  • He was so shocked at that thought. Where had that come from and when did he become so possessive over someone, especially someone he has not seen for five years. He couldn’t believe how beautiful she was.
  • Never in his wildest imagination did he ever think that he would feel like this about this best friend’s baby sister.
  • He could see the look on the other guys’ faces and he felt like putting a sack over her head so that no one could look at her. Again, another thought that shocked him. Why was he feeling like this? His heart was beating so fast that he thought it would beat right through his chest and onto the table.
  • She approached the table next to theirs and her boyfriend got up and pulled out her chair for her. She gave him such a sweet and loving smile that a bolt of jealousy hit him so bad that he actually felt physical pain.
  • What happened to the chubby girl that wore glasses?
  • Who was this glamourous creature that was evoking such feelings in him that he had never ever experienced for another woman before?
  • He was hoping that she would look in his direction and smile at him the way she had smiled at her partner.
  • Although she was wearing an Indian outfit, there seemed to be a little too much skin on display.
  • How could her parents let her leave her house looking like that? He tried to distract himself by focusing on the stage in front of him.
  • Everyone was laughing at some joke that Rahul was telling about his parents. He couldn’t stop his eyes from looking at Trisha again.
  • She was laughing along with everyone else, and this was the first time that he realised that she had dimples.
  • He could not take his eyes off her and suddenly she leaned closer to Steve and whispered something in his ear. Steve laughed and put his hand across the back of her chair.
  • Again, he felt a surge of jealousy hit him and he wanted to get up and drag her away.
  • He had to reign in his feeling before anyone noticed. He was anxiously waiting for the formalities to be over so that he could go over an reacquaint himself with her.
  • He wanted to know if she still had a crush on him or had his comments ended it.
  • He was hoping that she still had a crush on him so that he could steal her away from Steve. He did not think that Steve was good enough for her.
  • He clenched his fist and found that he could not take his eyes off her. He wanted to shout, "Mine".
  • He could not believe that he was behaving like a neanderthal. He had to just wait for the formalities to be over and then he can go chat to her.
