Chapter 6 You Deserve Each Other!

  • They just looked to the side and when they saw who it was, they didn't know what to do. Yes, it was himself, the president of the company, Takeda Shingen, with his imposing presence, looking down on them in that deplorable scene. Helena only thought at the time that it really wasn't her day.
  • — Mr. Shin-gen! — She stuttered when she saw him. She did the traditional Japanese bow, as she knew how attached her boss was to the traditions of her homeland.
  • — I warned you that you wanted to talk to her, but she didn't want to hear me. — Said the witch of Olga, wanting to flee.
  • — WHAT? That's a lie, I was really going to talk to you, but...
  • The president just a gesture with his hand asking for enough, with all his oriental calm:
  • — Mrs. Olga, come back now to your table, please. Let me speak to Helena personally. And all of you, get back to work.
  • — Yes sir. — The old lady just looked her up and down and left stomping hard. Everyone watched the scene. And she looked at him red-faced, expecting the worst.
  • — Since we are here, can we talk in your office?
  • — Yes sir. "It was exactly what I needed! Besides the humiliation on social media, losing my job!"
  • — About the trip...
  • — Please, sir, don't send me away! — She interrupted, once again bursting into tears. She knew how much he didn't like to be interrupted, but she couldn't take it anymore: — I know you don't have someone like me representing your company, but I need the job...
  • — But I wasn't going to fire you... — He tried to explain, a little scared by her reaction: — I just wanted you to know that everything is ready for the trip. And I really want you to go, because you're the only one here who speaks fluent French and has a place to stay.
  • Hearing this, Helena felt that she had lifted a great weight from her shoulders. She really spoke French and would stay at her friend Dayane's house, so the company wouldn't have to pay for accommodation. It would cost less.
  • But like everyone else, she also heard about the humiliation on social media.
  • — So the rumors are true?
  • — Sadly yes. Sorry for the confusion...
  • — Well, I'm sorry for you, but I hope that your ex-boyfriend's betrayal doesn't get in the way of your work, much less your contract with the French company.
  • — It won't get in the way sir, you have my word.
  • — I think it's good that you honor your word Helena. If you lose this contract, consider yourself fired from this company.
  • "Great, that's all I needed, getting fired for being made fun of on Facebook!"
  • At least the trip wasn't cancelled. She would still go to Paris.
  • — Back to work. You need to advance your service before taking a trip.
  • — Yes sir... — as soon as he left the room, she locked herself and once again burst into tears. It was a lot of disaster happening in such a short time. She hasn't even gone out to lunch and if it weren't for one of the few friends she has at work, she would have gone without food.
  • *
  • At the end of the day, Helena waited for everyone to leave to be the last to leave. She didn't want to see anyone else...
  • It was a relief to leave work, but she felt very sad when she got home, because everything there reminded her of Luiz. She had some of his things that were left at her house, like clothes and personal effects. There were also the gifts, the photos and, of course, the books given by him... in addition to the moments spent with him: the romantic dinners, the movie and series marathons and, of course, the romantic nights of love. Whenever he went to sleep over at her house, she always treated him to a treat, like cooking his favorite food, giving him a massage, wearing sexy lingerie...
  • Helena loved it when she and Luiz made love, because every time it happened, she always did her ritual: bathing with rose petals, applying her favorite moisturizer, filling the bed with rose petals and lighting scented candles. Of course, they varied from time to time, so the relationship didn't fall apart. And they always used condoms.
  • Now there she was, alone and abandoned. Never had her apartment looked so big. Her biggest wish was to throw everything away, even the mattress she slept on to try to forget about him...she just didn't do it because it cost too much. The most she did was turn the side of the mattress over, so she wouldn't smell him. And once again she cried herself to sleep...
  • *
  • Helena woke up with her face all swollen from crying, in the middle of the night. It's exactly what she's been doing since the day she saw that damn post. She was dragging herself to the bathroom and was shocked by what she saw. More like the brunette version of Blood Mary.
  • "Gods, I really need to stop this…it's not doing me any good!"
  • She scolded herself for crying over someone who didn't deserve her. She finally admitted it. Even though it was late, she decided to take a shower. And there under the shower, she let a few more tears fall... that was her problem, she tries to be strong all the time, but when she couldn't take it anymore she let it all out and then some.
  • At bath time, he washed himself like he had never washed in his life. She rubbed herself so hard it drew blood from her skin. She wanted to get Luiz's scent off her skin... get it out of her head and if possible, do the same with her heart.
  • As she got out of the shower, her cell phone rang. Who would call at three in the morning? At most it would be her family or Samantha and even then it would have to be something very serious, or maybe it's someone who isn't busy in life to play a prank on her, as has happened before.
  • She froze when she saw a certain name on the screen: Luiz!
  • She was in doubt whether she would respond or not. She questioned why he called now and hadn't done so before. As soon as she decided to answer, the call was disconnected. She considered calling him back, but decided against it. What could he want? Apologize? Explain what happened or just make fun of him?
  • The last question was by far the most likely.
  • By her calculations, this was the tenth time she'd tried to contact him since she'd seen that profile post from him. She decided it was better to stop for good, because Luiz had already made his choice and it wasn't her.
  • *
  • It was dawn and Helena was already awake, getting ready to go to work and with certain decisions in mind, when her cell phone rang. It was him.
  • — Hello? — She got up the courage to answer and asked: — Luiz is you? If so, let me know, because if not, I...
  • — You what?
  • She was speechless at the sound of that voice. It was a woman's voice and she could already guess who it was from.
  • — Who is he?
  • — Who wants to know?
  • She was already losing patience with that conversation. She decided to go to the finals.
  • — Here is Helena, who is talking?
  • — Aha, so you're that "Helena"?
  • At that very moment, she felt a tremendous hatred for that despicable creature, even more so for the way he pronounced her name.
  • — No, it's not that Helena isn't it, it's her! And you must be that "Nubia". — She replied in the same tone: — ... unless he found another girl, which would be nothing new. — When she wanted, Helena also had a very sharp tongue.
  • — It's Miss Nubia for you! Are you the one calling my husband's cell phone?
  • "Husband? Are they already like this?"
  • — Actually, it was your "husband" who called me at dawn.
  • — Hahahaha! — even Nubia's laugh was despicable: — Muggle! Did you really think he would call you? I was the one who called!
  • Hearing that, he felt his stomach turn. He also felt like crying, but he wasn't going to give his enemy that taste.
  • — And why did you lend yourself to this cardboard?
  • — He gave me his number. Said I could have fun tormenting you to celebrate our union!
  • "Luiz wouldn't stoop to that! Or would he?" She didn't know what to think anymore. She decided to end that situation.
  • — Look, you already have it, make good use of it, you can keep it. I allow. You can also keep the mug I bought him!
  • Helena triumphed when she realized that Nubia was mute when talking about the mug.
  • — We pass your number to some of our friends, so you don't get stuck. And leave my husband alone! You'll stop calling him, if it's not for the good, it's for the bad. Now he's with me and I'm not like the others, okay? If breaking up with others was easy, breaking up with you will be even easier!
  • "Other women?"
  • — Of course you are not like the other girls, you are the worst of them all. Today he is with you, tomorrow he is with someone else. From now on, you are the horned woman. You're a bitch and he's an asshole they practically deserve each other!
  • After hanging up on that bitch, Helena started crying again. But this time she would swallow her tears and go back to her decisions. One of them is to change her cell number, because if what she said is true, that she passed her number on to other guys, then that's the best thing to do.
  • Nubia called again, because she must have been very upset with Helena for hanging up on her. She blocked this number. Another decision would be to move her apartment if possible, as Luiz could have given her or someone else his address.
