Chapter 2

  • I pushed open the door to the ward.
  • Everyone in the room was looking at me.
  • Sherry's parents immediately came up to me warmly.
  • "Seline, thank you so much!" Mrs. Don, Sherry’s mother, shook my hand vigorously.
  • She was wearing the latest LV bag, and her diamond ring was sparkling.
  • "Don't worry, when Sherry recovers, we will definitely give you what you want." Mr. Don echoed from the side.
  • They were saying thank you with their mouths.
  • But their eyes were full of contempt and mockery.
  • As if I were a homeless man who sold his daughter for money.
  • Victor stood by the bedside enjoying it all.
  • He had his hand on Sherry's shoulder, playing the role of a passionate and powerful savior.
  • He was very satisfied with the harmonious scene before him.
  • So he cleared his throat.
  • "There's something else I want to announce in front of everyone."
  • He hugged Sherry tightly.
  • "When Sherry recovers, I will divorce Seline."
  • His gaze fell on me, looking at me like trash.
  • "I will kick her out."
  • "Because of you, and your rotten father, you don't deserve anything of mine."
  • Sherry's parents exchanged a satisfied look.
  • Sherry weakly leaned against Victor's chest, her eyes full of victorious light.
  • Victor was not done yet.
  • He looked at me triumphantly, admiring the pain and despair that should have been on my face.
  • "Oh, by the way, I also invited the media."
  • "After a successful surgery tomorrow, I will live stream on TikTuk."
  • "I want to show how forgiving I am, using my broad mind to save a rotten gambler."
  • "I want to vindicate my love with Sherry."
  • The light in his eyes was blinding.
  • He wanted to trample on my “father's corpse," trample on my son's heart, and compose a hymn for his love.
  • So touching.
  • So ironic.
  • I looked at the ugly faces of these people, but my heart remained calm.
  • I just asked softly.
  • "Victor, are you sure you want to make such a big fuss about this?"
  • He thought I was scared.
  • He thought I was begging for mercy.
  • He laughed even more arrogantly, more domineering.
  • "Of course!"
  • "I want everyone to see who deserves to stand by my side!"
  • "I also want everyone to know how much of a failure you, Seline, are!"
  • On the day of the surgery, it was just getting light outside.
  • The hospital entrance was already crowded with the media.
  • There were more reporters invited by Victor than family members visiting.
  • The flashlights never stopped.
  • Victor stepped out of his Bentley.
  • He was dressed in a tailored suit, his hair slicked back.
  • But there was weariness and determination in his face.
  • He began his long-prepared speech in front of the camera.
  • "Thank you to all the media friends for coming."
  • His voice was low and hoarse, his expression serious.
  • "Today, standing here, my feelings are complicated."
  • "As a husband, I have experienced betrayal."
  • He looked at me in the crowd.
  • "But as a man, I choose to take responsibility."
  • "The man who once hurt my family, my father-in-law, is now fighting for his life in the ICU."
  • "And my beloved, Miss Sherry, is also hanging by a thread due to heart failure."
  • "Fate has played a cruel joke, but it has also brought a glimmer of hope."
  • "My father-in-law's blood type matches perfectly with Sherry's!"
  • He took a deep breath, a savior-like glow on his face.
  • "Setting aside personal grievances to save a life, this is love, this is responsibility."
  • "I hope my choice can bring a little warmth to this world."
  • The speech was perfect.
  • Messages flew rapidly in the live broadcast room.
  • "Mr. Hudson is so great! This is true love!"
  • "If it weren't for that homeless man saving Miss Sherry, she would probably have starved to death by now!"
  • "Why hasn't Seline left yet? If I were her, I would be too ashamed to leave the house."
  • Curses filled the screen.
  • Victor became the spokesperson for love and greatness, while my father and I, who had never shown our faces, became the despised ones.
  • Sherry was pushed out by the nurses in a crowd.
  • She looked like a princess about to be crowned.
  • As she passed by me, she smiled through the crowd.
  • Mouthing silently.
  • "Thank you for your son's heart, Seline."
