Chapter 12

- It's unbelievable, it really is. I told them I had told the lawyer that I thought he had made a big mistake but he showed me the papers and said that he had already bought the house and had left a substantial sum of money. The lawyer also told me that he had won a prize for his publication at the university a few years ago and that he had saved the rest out of his pension from work. Though I just don’t know how he did it. I sank heavily into the chair. My father had saved it for their retirement and he couldn't even enjot it's benefit I was happy as well as sad.
- “You don't think that Marc would have given the money to him.” Aunt Beth said hesitantly. "You father is from a different school of thoughts he would never rely on someone else's money, let alone your husband's"
