Chapter 15 You’ve Never Lived Until You’ve Gone Mad in Love

  • In the silent ward, Tang Jing opened her eyes and looked into the obscure light before she gradually regained her vision.
  • She looked around and suddenly came back to her senses when someone pushed the door from the outside.
  • Bo Cheng stood at the doorstep, his face dull and sullen. The moment he saw Tang Jing’s face, countless emotions flashed in his eyes and finally extinguished in his dark pupils.
  • Tang Jing just stared at him emotionlessly without a word.
  • She had imagined numerous ways she would encounter her ex-lover. It was a small world, so you would definitely run into the person you once loved deeply, but Tang Jing never thought Bo Cheng would treat her this way, sending her down once again into the abyss of despair in such a cruel, extreme method.
  • Bo Cheng looked at Tang Jing, who kept quiet, and realized that she didn’t want to speak to him. Standing at the doorstep, he cleared his throat and muttered, “You’re awake.”
  • Tang Jing gave him a cold glance and remained silent.
  • Bo Cheng walked forward and lifted her chin. Looking into her hate-filled eyes, his heart ached for no reason. “Are you angry with me?”
  • He then laughed with a devilish, spine-chilling grin hanging on his face. “Tang Jing, I should’ve choked you to death five years ago. You should be glad that I spared this cheap life of yours till today.”
  • Hearing his words, Tang Jing gave Bo Cheng a few brief cackles, as though she had just heard the greatest joke in the world. “Yeah, I have to thank you for sparing my cheap, worthless life!”
  • “You’re feeling wronged?”
  • Bo Cheng sneered as well, with greater satire than Tang Jing’s.
  • “Wronged about what?” Tang Jing narrowed her eyes. She still looked pale and weak, but her eyes were astonishingly bright and sharp, like a poison-laced dagger.
  • Under her gaze, Bo Cheng had a vague illusion that he couldn’t breathe.
  • Tang Jing smiled at him flamboyantly and the world dimmed at that instance. “Bo Cheng, don’t I have to thank you properly! Five years ago, you ruined me, and five years later, you still want my life! I must have committed great sins in my past life for you to destroy me so thoroughly in this life!”
  • Hearing Tang Jing’s words, Bo Cheng pinched her chin even harder. “You still want to quibble for yourself? An Qing’s death…”
  • “What if An Qing’s death had nothing to do with me?”
  • Tang Jing laughed maniacally, as if there was nothing left in the world for her to hold on to, with nowhere to turn and nothing to lose. She yelled at him loudly, “Bo Cheng, I will ask you just one thing—if An Qing’s death had nothing to do with me, would you be able to repay me whatever you owe me in this life?”
  • If An Qing’s death had nothing to do with me, would you be able to repay me whatever you owe me in this life?
  • Bo Cheng’s pupils contracted into slits, and he couldn’t help but let go of her the next second. He took two steps back and looked at Tang Jing in disbelief. “What did you say?”
  • Tang Jing suddenly lowered her voice, as if her counter earlier had drained all her energy. “Bo Cheng, I don’t hate you anymore, because I feel you’re pathetic enough, so it doesn’t matter whether I hate you,” she uttered.
  • When she looked up, her once love-filled eyes were now filled with emptiness, and not a single trace of sentiment was left. All the love and feelings she once had were devoured by the hatred that was born five years ago.
  • Bo Cheng was so furious that he laughed, and his enraged expression made him appear more handsome. This man had a look that would make all women in the entire city fall for him. Five years ago, she did the same and fell for him helplessly and unconditionally, like a moth to a flame, but she ended up ruining herself. She got nothing in return, as he didn’t even bother to feel sorry for her.
  • Tang Jing shook her head as if mocking herself. “I have no regrets, and I don’t hate you. It’s just five years in prison, and now that I’m out, I’m doing just fine. Without you, I’m still alive and kicking.”
  • “Investigate it, if you’d like. Investigate all you want, Bo Cheng. I mean it.”
  • The moment she looked up with her sharp and frosty eyes, Bo Cheng vaguely saw the shadow of the beautiful, talented and proud Young Miss Tang. Even after her family fell apart, she still had her imperishable pride and arrogance.
  • Tang Jing moved her lips and said to Bo Cheng, “Let me tell you this. I do not regret spilling An Qing’s ashes in front of everyone. Because of her, my family fell apart; because of her, I was charged with a crime; because of her, a dead person, I was tortured and humiliated, and spent five miserable years in prison! Thank god she is dead, and it’s not even enough for me to have broken her urn! I swear, if she is still alive, I would kill her and scatter her ashes!”
  • “How dare you!” Bo Cheng boiled, and he slapped Tang Jing in the face, his voice trembling. “Tang Jing! How dare you! How dare you say these words!!”
  • The stinging pain didn’t force her tears out. Instead, she smiled even wider like a beautiful poppy flower, and her grin was eerily breathtaking.
  • “Yes! I dare! A dead person made me bear this unfair life. Bo Cheng, if you ever put yourself in my shoes, even just for a while, I wouldn’t be like this right now! Mark my words. I do not regret whatever I did to her. I’m only afraid that you will hate yourself once you know the truth, which is that An Qing’s death had nothing to do with me!”
  • Bo Cheng was taken aback by Tang Jing’s words. He was there when An Qing was pushed down the stairs, so how could he be mistaken? He was sure Tang Jing pushed her!
  • “Stop acting innocent. If that is the truth, you would’ve said so five years ago!”
  • “Did you give me a chance to say it?”
  • Tang Jing finally burst into tears, still smiling. “Oh, right, you never believed my words, anyway. I was your wife for five years, but I was just like a dog. You’ve never glanced at me, not even once! Bo Cheng, why did you marry me when you didn’t love me? Don’t you feel sorry for me or An Qing?”
  • “The only person I love is An Qing. I only married you because you climbed into my bed!” Bo Cheng finally couldn’t hold back his anger and bellowed. “You were the one who climbed into my bed back then!”
  • “Really? That’s how you see me? You’ve truly forgotten everything!” Tang Jing laughed, her body shaking and her voice breaking. “It’s like what they say… It is useless to love deeply, and it’s not worth it to spare even a moment for lovesickness.”
  • Bo Cheng, I will just treat all my sacrifices for you as a joke. If I could start over, I wished I had never met you! I regret it, awfully. Bo Cheng, oh, Bo Cheng. I pray that you’ll regret your actions one day!
  • “I’m not afraid of you treating me like this, but I’m afraid that you will regret all these one day.”
  • After finishing her sentence, Tang Jing pointed at the hospital room’s door and yelled at Bo Cheng, “Get out!”
  • The hatred in her eyes was so obvious even though she said she didn’t hate him or that it didn’t matter anymore, but the truth was that her hatred was too deep, so it didn’t matter whether she would forgive him—her hatred toward him was carved into her bones. From the moment he sent her to jail five years ago, she strangled all her love and hopes for him.
  • I’m hanging by a thread. You’ve gifted me total destruction, causing me to struggle in the endless abyss of despair and pain. Bo Cheng, I don’t need redemption; I just want to curse you—may you never be loved again in this life!
  • Tang Jing burst out into laughter, and the nurse outside dashed in upon hearing her. Seeing her state, she went over and pressed her down firmly. Tang Jing shuddered and flipped the nurse onto the ground.
  • The nurse let out a high-pitched scream. Immediately, a group of people rushed in from the corridor, and someone was even yelling—
  • “Tranquilizer! Tranquilizer!”
  • “There’s a situation in ward V02!”
  • “Quick! Get the doctor and the security in here!”
  • “Don’t touch me! Go away! All of you!”
  • Whenever someone approached her, Tang Jing threw things over; mugs, vases, stools—everything became her weapon to hurt the others and protect herself.
  • She was laughing and crying at the same time. “Get out! All of you!”
  • Bo Cheng yelled, “Tang Jing! You’ve gone mad!”
  • Those words were like an edged sword lunging into her body, piercing through her lungs. The pain spread from her chest to every corner of her body, inch by inch, swallowing her breath.
  • The woman’s eyes were bloodshot with madness. All of a sudden, she dashed toward Bo Cheng and kneeled down in front of him, banging her head against the ground fiercely.
  • “Bo Cheng, let me go. I beg you… Please, let me go!”
  • “I have been imprisoned for five years. I’m barely even human now. Look at me; open your eyes and look at me!”
  • An indescribable pain began to grow from the depths of his heart. Stunned, Bo Cheng stared at the woman in front of him, his entire body trembling.
  • Five years ago, she was the arrogant Young Miss Tang; five years later, she was a lunatic woman with a criminal record.
  • His whole body was shaking, and his handsome face showed a pain that had traveled from the far corners of his soul, hurting so much that his brows formed a deep frown. “Tang Jing… What is wrong with you?”
  • He suddenly recalled Tang Jing’s right arm that was filled with criss-crossed scars. How desperate one must have been to hurt her most precious right arm?
  • Tang Jing is a designer who cherishes her hands more than anything else. It is her pride and glory, but she has chosen to destroy her most important right hand. What kind of torment she must have gone through that she couldn’t bear the weight of reality and walked toward destruction?
  • Everyone was shocked. Why did Tang Jing end up like this? So fragile, sensitive and hysterical… What happened to her in prison?
  • Five years… Who caused her destruction?
  • Bo Cheng didn’t dare to ask for an answer. He was afraid that… he was the one who made her a monster.
  • It can’t be, Tang Jing… She loved herself so much. It’s impossible…
  • The professional medical team swarmed in and held Tang Jing’s hands and legs. The security guard stood aside and tried to control the scene while some helped the fallen nurse up. The ward was extremely noisy for a moment, and some people outside were tilting their heads, trying to look in.
  • Bo Cheng was pushed to the side by the crowd and was shocked to see Tang Jing being pressed on the hospital bed as a syringe filled with tranquilizer was pierced into her arms mercilessly. Her pupils dilated and her sight turned blurry. Then she closed her eyelids, falling into a coma once again.
