Chapter 12 Nothing Lasts Forever, As Things Remain The Same But People Change

  • Bo Cheng burst out laughing when he heard what Tang Ze said.
  • “What do you mean by that?”
  • Bo Cheng stared at his face unblinkingly. “You are definitely my son. Do I have to take you for a DNA test? Why would I need to go through any formalities to care for my own son?”
  • Tang Ze looked at Bo Cheng. His face was a mini version of Bo Cheng's, and they appeared to be made from the same mold. The only difference was that Bo Cheng’s features were more refined and prominent, whereas Tang Ze’s mannerisms were gentler, and he gave off an air similar to Tang Jing’s.
  • Tang Ze whispered, “Young Master Bo, if my memory serves me right, you and my mommy have been divorced for five years. I was born after the divorce, so mommy naturally has custody over me. If you want to take over my care, you’ll still have to negotiate with my mommy regarding my custody.”
  • Bo Cheng’s pupils constricted into slits as he looked at Tang Ze in disbelief and repeated himself. “What did you say?”
  • He is a five-year-old kid, but how is he so terrifyingly brilliant?!
  • Tang Ze stared steadily at Bo Cheng, seemingly indifferent to his surprise. In the end, Tang Ze spoke slowly in a low voice. “Young Master Bo, if I’m not your son… but my mother and someone else’s, will you still treat me this way?”
  • Bo Cheng’s heart clenched tightly, and he felt a sense of distress for no apparent reason.
  • If this child were not his son, why would he take all the trouble to bring him back home? However… the thought of Tang Jing having a child with another man flashed through his mind, and anger started bubbling uncontrollably in him…
  • For as far as he could remember, Tang Jing’s life had always revolved around him, and she could only bear his children. Any other men who dared to touch her definitely had a death wish!
  • Tang Ze burst out laughing when he saw Bo Cheng’s expression. The child’s laughter rang as clear as crystal, but accompanying it was a jarring sense of mockery.
  • “Young Master Bo, you will never understand what we went through for the past five years, so it’s impossible for me to be close with you.”
  • Tang Ze looked up at Bo Cheng, and in an instant, Bo Cheng felt as though his heart was pierced a million times.
  • Surprisingly, this five-year-old had the ability to hurt him this way.
  • Tang Ze continued, “Young Master Bo, I am the only motivation for mommy to stay alive, for without me, she will die.”
  • Without Tang Ze, Tang Jing will die.
  • Tang Jing prepared herself at 8 in the evening and went to the location Bo Cheng ordered her to go, which was the main entrance of Mago.
  • The sales assistants walked up and greeted her once they saw her. “Hello, Miss…”
  • Tang Jing had styled her hair, redid her make-up and put on some perfume. She wore a suit skirt with sensible heels, emitting a natural air of elegance. She stood there with her hair hanging loosely on one side, and she was wearing a short clavicle chain around her slender neck. The necklace was handmade by Tang Yi, and it was the only one in the world.
  • No one dared to approach her when she was standing over there. She had a wealthy aura, like a certain Young Miss of an affluent family. Tang Jing’s face was slightly lowered, while her long eyelashes, puffy red lips and prominent nose outlined the delicate angles of her side profile. Everyone thought she looked familiar, but no one could recall who she was.
  • Maybe there were too many noble, rich women in this city that never slept, which was why people found her familiar but couldn’t recall where they had seen her. She had such a refined and beautiful face that, if they were to see her again, they would definitely recognize her.
  • No one knew that she was the Young Miss of the Tang family from all those years ago, who had been to prison for five years and lost half a finger. She rose from the ashes after being robbed of her purity and had her pride destroyed.
  • Bo Cheng drove in and parked his car in Mago’s parking lot, and he witnessed the following scene as he walked up into the building.
  • A group of people who had had too much to drink were staggering while slurring, “Damn, did you guys see the beautiful woman at the entrance? She’s exquisite! That temperament and that face of hers. My, my!”
  • His friend beside him replied, “Don’t even think about it. Do you think you can land that sort of woman? You might only qualify to be her chauffeur.”
  • “Haha, I’m willing to be her chauffeur! I’ll be her chauffeur, free of charge!”
  • A frown formed between Bo Cheng’s brows, and he looked up to see Tang Jing standing there. She looked cold and distant with her indifferent eyes, and her beautiful facial features were etched with detachment and callousness. When she saw him, panic flashed across her eyes.
  • Bo Cheng halted to a stop and stood still in his designer white shirt, and underneath his clean cut trousers were a pair of strong, straight legs standing in Balenciaga shoes. His hand gripped the car keys while the other held his coat. He had an unruly, handsome face and two black diamond studs on his left ear, which brought out his dark, obsidian eyes. He stood at the entrance, and his tall figure drew attention from the passersby.
  • He was born with an aura that made everyone notice him wherever he went. Those devilishly handsome facial features with his steady and calm temperament had women falling head over heels and throwing themselves at him madly.
  • It was said that Bo Cheng was the dream lover of every woman in this city, so when Bo Cheng married Tang Jing five years ago, all the women in this city were heartbroken.
  • They waited for the drama to unfold. Five years later, he personally sent Tang Jing to prison, and no one knew how many people whistled and cheered behind their backs in celebration.
  • Bo Cheng was undoubtedly perfect in all aspects, be it his family background, financial status or influence, but when it came to love, he had never given any to Tang Jing.
  • Tang Jing felt that her circumstances were melancholic as she thought she could move a man who never belonged to her by waiting for him unwaveringly. She played a fool for five years and carried a crime for another five—ten years was the amount of time it took for her to finally understand that she would never be with Bo Cheng. The price she paid to understand that was a ruined reputation and a broken family.
  • Bo Cheng and Tang Jing stood at the entrance and looked at each other across the hustling and bustling crowd, as though by looking past these strangers’ faces, they could turn back time and look into the past, when he was still the love of her life, and she was still the young girl in his eyes.
  • Time flew by, and nothing would last forever. How did they end up where they were right now? Who was the one… directing all these from the shadows?
  • Tang Jing gathered her rambling thoughts and looked up to see Bo Cheng walking toward her, step-by-step. The man was shining as bright as the stars, looking so elegant and noble that the people around him dulled in comparison, and he finally stopped in front of her.
  • When the handsome and perfect face came closer to hers suddenly, Tang Jing dolefully realized that her heart no longer fluttered as it did before.
  • Bo Cheng, did you know that, from the dawn of my youth until now, I’ve been in love with you for fifteen years and spent half of my life in misery?
  • She took a glance at Bo Cheng and looked away when he whispered coolly beside her, “Have you waited for long?”
  • “No. Probably 10 minutes.”
  • Tang Jing broke into a smile which was so graceful that it seemed flawless, but it was a look that felt foreign to Bo Cheng.
  • Back then, she was always gentle and generous. Her eyes were always filled with never-ending affection, but they were now a pair of withered, black holes. Her pride of the yesteryears were unwinged within her empty eyes and was engulfed into nothingness.
  • Bo Cheng’s heart quivered, but he held his voice steady. “Let’s go up. Follow me.”
  • With that, he extended his arm and pressed the elevator switch, but the moment the doors opened, no one else dared to enter it and share the ride with them.
