Chapter 6 I can't stay here

  • As Leah slowly opened her eyes, she couldn't feel her body because she had used up so much energy. She moves her head and is glad she can turn it to the side. She was sure she was still in the palace because she was lying on a soft, comfortable bed with a beautiful ceiling. Looking over her shoulder, she saw a man reading a book with his legs crossed.
  • Oh...
  • She was sure he already knew she was awake, but he didn't even look at her.
  • "I need to go home..." Leah was so weak that she could barely hear herself talk.
  • If she doesn't make it home, she's afraid it will be long before she can regain her strength. She wants to find a medicine to help get her mana back.
  • "You are quite stubborn, aren't you?" Amoux's voice was authoritative, even just asking.
  • He put the book down and looked at her.
  • Leah turned away from him because she couldn't look at him. She also didn't answer what he said. A hand touched her heart when she saw that he was still alive. His figure, now wearing a royal robe, caught her eye. She can't help but notice how far away their state is from rank and life. Lycan and Luna loved and cared for him, while she had no parents.
  • "Aghh..!" She tried to get up, but her body just kept getting worse.
  • Amoux watched her every move until she finally organized herself and sat up properly.
  • "Uhm..."
  • She looked out the window and tried to remember how many days she had slept. She wanted to make sure how long she'd been in this bed. She's also unsure if she's on his bed because she can smell his scent.
  • "You can stay here instead of returning to your house, which the wind could destroy because of its ugliness."
  • "W-what did you just say—" Leah roared but stopped as Amoux didn't turn away and just snapped his fingers.
  • After he snapped, Leah kept her eyes on the door as it opened. Their pack servants moved so quickly that she couldn't help but be impressed.
  • "You're a jerk." She couldn't hold back from telling him.
  • Richelle gave her that house, and she stayed there even though it was broken. She didn't know how to be loved by her parents or wolves until she met Richelle. She remembers many things about the house, so she won't allow anyone to insult it.
  • "You haven't been able to say thank you to me. Because of you, I had to wait longer to find the leaves I needed for my medicines."
  • "Tsk." Amoux didn't give her any attention after she stated what was inside her heart and just continued what he was doing.
  • Leah glared and gawked at him, but the man showed no care.
  • As she's not taking back her eyes to the man, three beta women enter with a food cart in their hands. Even though the food cart hadn't fully come yet, she could smell it immediately.
  • The smell is making her stomach rumble.
  • The first woman opened the food and gave it to her while she still had sharp eyes that penetrated Amoux. However, just like what she expected, the man just offered her a poker face without even lifting his face.
  • She swallowed many times and watched in awe as the three women with the cart came out of the door. She didn't move the food; she just held the spoon and fork. Since this is the first time she has seen it, she's not sure what to call it or what kind of meat it is.
  • "You won't feel full just by looking at that." Finally, he spoke up and turned the page of his book.
  • "H-huh? Of course, I know that! What do you think of me? Fool?" She stabbed the pork, ate the big chunk of meat, and with the large slice in her mouth, she kept talking. "Jaz ficoz, you're sa Prinz; it means you're allowed to believe me!" (Just because you're the prince means you're allowed to belittle me!)
  • "What the hell are you talking about?! Don't talk when your mouth is full, idiot!"
  • Leah got more annoyed with him. All the worries she felt when she healed him had been wiped out like an intense storm had passed, taking away her anxiety.
  • She didn't reply anymore and just ate because she felt like a hungry beast was living in her stomach.
  • After eating for a short time, she finally tamed the hungry beast inside her that was ready to devour anyone. She had just put the bed table back down and was about to leave when Amoux asked something out of the blue.
  • "Where do you think you're going?"
  • "Home?" She looked at his eyes and rolled her eyes. "Don't worry, MY PRINCE! I'll give back the things I borrowed!"
  • "I don't care."
  • "Then, I'm leaving —"
  • "Did I tell you it's okay to go?" A pushing tone with sharp edges of words stopped Leah.
  • "A-ahm... I..."
  • With the roughness and coldness of his voice, Leah quickly moved her foot back on the bed. She bit the bottom of her lip. Her body seemed to have a mind of its own and instantly acted.
  • "But the plate I use..."
  • "When I command, you follow. Don't make me repeat myself."
  • Like a scared kitten, Leah nodded.
  • "Leave it there because servants will take it; that's their work. Tell me what you want as compensation for saving me, and I'll give it to you."
  • Every word he said showed how proud he was.
  • She doesn't need the reward. It's enough for her if Amoux says how grateful he was since it's also her job to help the Nightwalker pack. Well...
  • Because at the end of the day, he is so precious to Leah that she came to the silly thought that she wanted to devote her whole life to him. And she's confident that her emotions towards Amoux would give him a chance to wreck her life.
  • She hates that she seems desperate for love.
  • After a long silence, Leah talked again.
  • "I want to take a bath." Leah said in the air, "But in my house, not here."
  • Leah thought that if that's what she wanted, Amoux couldn't do anything but send her home because she had nothing to wear. Nevertheless, Amoux made a face like he couldn't handle more of her tricks. "You can take a bath here. I'll tell the servant to make sure you have something to wear."
  • Amoux stood up without expression while Leah watched him and opened her mouth.
  • "But—" Before she could finish her sentence, she heard the door shut very hard.
  • "Haaah..." She thought she would have a heart attack because her heart was beating so fast. Since this was the first time she had talked to him in a long time, she could feel her cheeks red.
  • "I can't stay here..." she mumbled to herself and was about to stand up when the door opened again and didn't expect who would come in.
