Chapter 75

  • Phoenix couldn't help but wake up from his deep slumber when he felt a heaviness in his left arm, even though it was just resting on the bed. As his consciousness gradually returned, he also began to feel as if something heavy was placed on his arm. Due to this, he slowly opened his eyes.
  • His forehead instantly furrowed when the sunlight hit his eyes. He was about to raise his right hand to shield his face from the light, but he quickly winced due to the pain he felt in his arm. That's when Phoenix began to slowly remember what happened last night. He was about to sit up from his bed, but he immediately felt a sharp pain in his side. Swearing silently in his mind, he was about to let out a louder curse, but his eyes caught the sight of the young woman who was now sleeping peacefully. Her head was resting on his left arm, which explained the heavy feeling and numbness he felt from having it underneath her for so long. The woman was sitting on the floor of the cabin; the bed Phoenix was lying on was quite low, so even without using a chair, she managed to rest her head on his arm.
  • When Phoenix saw Zainah's innocent face at that moment, the memories of last night flooded back into his mind. He vividly remembered the concerned expression she had on her face as she looked at him after saving him. It was hard to believe that there would come a time when someone would rescue him from the brink of death, let alone a woman doing it. He gulped silently while still gazing at Zainah. He couldn't help but recall the repetitive things she told him back then – that she was willing to sacrifice her life just to save him, something he never expected the young woman to actually do.
