Chapter 29

  • John was not one who loved showing off, so it didn't take long for him to forget about the new car Nico had gifted him weeks ago. He preferred sitting quietly in the backseat of a cab while someone else drove him peacefully to his destination for just a little amount compared to the amount spent in fueling up the sports car. As he stood just outside the villa on this bright and sunny afternoon, looking around for a taxi to take him to his girlfriend's, the only thing on his mind was spending time with Mina long enough to assess how she was coping and to help in any way necessary. Nico had stepped out on some unnamed business so he could very well afford to spend most of the day outside.
  • As he scanned the road, his eyes suddenly caught notice of a seemingly out-of-place taxi. It wasn't marked empty, but it was parked not too far away. John was about to look away when he noticed the white strip at the door. Yes, a white strip on the outline of the door on the passenger's side. He focused on it, wondering why it was here today of all days, but suddenly, the taxi started moving. It left its lane and navigated to John's lane, stopping just in front of him. John hesitated a little before pulling open the door and stepping in.
  • Twenty minutes later, the taxi slowed to a stop at a small restaurant somewhere in the town. John alighted and walked in, selecting a table close to the window. A waiter had seen him come in and promptly rushed to his side.
