Chapter 5

  • Tracy returned home that night by 11pm. She walked into the room to find Richard already asleep, which she was glad about because she wasn’t ready for his drama.
  • She was already fed up with the marriage and needed a way to get out of it.
  • She took a shower and got dressed in her nightie. She walked to her side of the bed and switched off her nightstand lamp before laying down and going to sleep.
  • Richard woke up the next morning to find Tracy asleep. He got into the bathroom and took a shower.
  • When he was done, he came out with a towel around his waist and walked into the closet to pick a white shirt, black tie and black suit as his outfit for the day.
  • He got dressed and walked out of the closet to find Tracy still fast asleep. He couldn’t help but wonder what kept her out so late last night.
  • It took every strength in him to not wake her up and ask, as he didn’t want her to start making a scene that morning, so he decided to let it pass.
  • He picked up his briefcase and headed downstairs.
  • “Good morning sir, breakfast is ready.” The housekeeper announced as soon as he approached the end of the stairs
  • “Thank you Anna.”
  • Richard walked into the dinning room to have his breakfast because he really needed it.
  • The breakfast served on the table were some toast, pancakes, bacon, fried eggs, apples, coffee and juice.
  • He had pancakes and bacon with a cup of coffee.
  • Richard was still on his breakfast when Tracy walked into the dinning room and took a seat across from him.
  • “Oh gosh! I feel so exhausted right now after having so much fun yesterday. Jessica took me shopping, we went to have a body massage and also had a girls night out with some of our other friends. I didn’t even realize it was already late cos we were having so much fun.”
  • “Really?” Richard drily replied.
  • “You didn’t even think it was necessary to let me know or at least inform Anna, if you didn’t feel like telling me, that you’d be home late. Seriously Tracy, you got us all worried! How long will you keep acting like this?” Richard said. He was trying to control the anger building up inside him.
  • “Please Richard, not now. Don’t you ever get tired of this. If you don’t, then I do.”
  • Richard angrily wiped his mouth with a napkin and stood up from the table, already set to leave for work.
  • “Now, you’re walking out on me after bringing up this issue. Don’t walk out on me.”
  • “Look Tracy, I don’t want to be late for work, so can you please step out of my way?” Richard said, already getting impatient as Tracy was in his way.
  • “Seriously Richard, what do you expect I do all day in this house? To sit my ass out, waiting for you to come home? I have my own life to live, okay! And you have no right, whatsoever to control my movements or even question it. I’m so sick of it! You expect me to report to you wherever I go? When did you suddenly become a cop or my bodyguard?”
  • “That’s enough, Tracy! I didn’t wake up this morning for this!” Richard yelled.
  • “I’m leaving for work and I don’t care where you go to or what you do.” Richard finally said before he stormed out of the house.
  • Tracy scoffed and left the dinning room to go upstairs to their bedroom.
  • She picked up her phone and dialed a number.
  • “Hey babe. How about we go on that date you promised we’d have, today?..... Okay, I will be there in two hours. Can’t wait to see you…. Love you, bye.”
