• He took his hands off my arm and stepped back a little, almost like he had been struck by something. He stared at me for a while, but it wasn’t the hateful, angry gaze I always saw. I thought I saw confusion, sadness, and regret. However, he dropped his gaze from my face and focused on my body. I shifted uncomfortably under his gaze and would have probably used something to cover myself at that moment if it were possible.
