Chapter 8: Confronting Ryan

  • Hannah's POV
  • I was hurt... And to be honest, I was angry too.
  • Our friendship.
  • It wasn't normal. Everything meant a lot to him and to me.
  • I know he never felt anything for me, but we both cherished our friendship more than anything. He... He even promised me that he'll never ever leave me.
  • He told me that I will always have a special place in his heart. So where's that place? What does it mean now? Does he hate me? What did I even do? Just left him because it was the need of the time?
  • I don't think I deserve being hated. I did everything because... there was no other option. He should understand it, right?
  • He always used to understand me. And by that, I mean everything. So what happened! Since when did he decide to act over smart and dumb?
  • I tried to calm myself. I was getting ready for school. Sam must be arriving at my house. Actually, my house is between her house and the school. So she usually stops by, and then we go together.
  • The doorbell rang. I was already ready. I said my goodbyes to mom and dad and headed out. Oh yeah, my dad is a very busy person. He is rarely at home. He's not so concerned about me either.
  • _____________________________________________
  • I reached the school a bit early. Ryan is already here. I'm happy that Evelyn isn't here yet or maybe she is.. but not around Ryan.
  • I took three deep breaths. Looked at Sam, she smiled and gave me an assuring nod, squeezed my hand a little and I already made up my mind. So, I headed towards him. He was standing with three other students, probably his friends, on the second day of his school, itself!
  • I went to him. Sam followed me.
  • "Ryan," I said. He looked at me with a smirk and then said something to his friends, because of which they left.
  • "Yes," he said. I took another deep breath.
  • If you have a crush, mind me, you know how much courage it takes to even say hi to them.
  • "I want to talk about something," I said. He nodded. "Alone" I added. He looked here and there.
  • "I think it's fine?" he said.
  • "Let's go to the rooftop," I said.
  • "Ok fine," he said with a sigh. We three went to the rooftop. Sam stayed beside me.
  • "Ryan. I know you remember everything" I said to him. He became confused.
  • "Don't play dumb, it's enough, Ryan!" I said again.
  • "What are you talking about-"
  • "Ryan Carson! Do you remember this name!" I yelled out of frustration.
  • Firstly, I don't believe that Ryan is not confronting me even now. Secondly, he's acting really dumb.
  • "I'm Ryan Swift," he said. "Not Carson"
  • "Of course. But you used to-" I stopped when he held his head with both his hands.
  • "Ah.." he said. I guess he was having a headache?
  • "R.. Ryan?" I said.
  • "What did you do! My head.. ah.."
  • "Sam, what happened to him!" I asked her.
  • "Take the help of Evelyn now!"
  • "What the fuck are you-"
  • "Please! He's having a headache. I think he doesn't remember everything... We shouldn't put pressure on him"
  • "But-"
  • "We don't have time. He's gonna pass out like this!"
  • "Ok. Ok"
  • I ran down to our floor. Evelyn was roaming here and there.
  • "Evelyn! Ryan is.. uh... Waiting for you on the rooftop!" I said. She made a confusing face and then went upstairs.
  • Ryan was sitting on a bench with his hands on his forehead. He was looking really tensed and Sam was just waiting for us at the door.
  • "Ryan!" Evelyn said. He stood up.
  • "Evelyn.." he said. Then they hugged each other and that's when I decided to go down. It hurts to see him love someone else.
  • _____________________________________________
  • Class started, but my mind was definitely on Ryan.
  • "Either he is playing the dumbest role or he really doesn't remember anything" Sam interrupted my thoughts as she saw me not paying any attention to the teacher.
  • "What do you think? But why would the Swifts say that then?"
  • "I don't know. What do you think?"
  • "Ryan Carson is a fearless soul. After we became friends, he almost became the one who speaks the truth no matter if he gets beaten for that. I don't think he would act like that.."
  • "So you think that the Swifts are lying?" she asked raising an eyebrow.
  • How do people do that? I really don't understand that stuff.
  • "No. Swifts... They were so good, Sam, why would they?"
  • "I don't know. Think with an open mind!"
  • "I don't know, Sam. Think about it!"
  • "Let's do something. I will keep an eye on the Swifts and you.. on Ryan"
  • "Ok, but how are you gonna do that? I mean, okay for Ryan, but how on Swifts?"
  • "Leave it on me! You know my detective skills!"
  • "Oh yeah! No doubt on Samantha Parker Kent"
  • "Yup Hannah Quinn"
  • "So, stay connected, and let's solve this together!"
