Chapter 5: Mom!

  • Hannah's POV
  • "Because you like him
  • ," mom said and all color from my face drained up.
  • What. The. Hell.
  • "M-mom??"
  • "You think I didn't know? Oh, you're too naive, kiddo. I know you like him from like when you
  • were... Around 8 or 9, right?"
  • "MOM! HOW THE HELL DO YOU KNOW!"
  • "It's obvious, Hannah. And now that you've accepted it, let's talk" she said taking me to the room, while Sam looked at me, asking if she should follow.
  • "Sam, you should come too" mom cleared the doubt and she followed, but what was troubling me was, is she mad at me!?!
  • 🌟🌟🌟🌟
  • We were sitting in the room. A tense atmosphere. My heartbeat was echoing in the sheer silence. Sam was tensed, my forehead was filled with crystal beads of sweat.
  • "
  • So, tell me what happened today," she asked. Everything came running in
  • to my mind. His insults, that picture, those words he spoke for me, the way he behaves with me and with that gold digger, how he made me feel embarrassed, everything.
  • I don't know why, but a lone tear found its way down my cheeks.
  • "Hannah
  • ," she said. I looked at her. I hugged her.
  • "Mom... He has changed mom, he has changed!" I said and she caressed my head.
  • "It will be fine, kiddo
  • ," she said. I got away.
  • "Tell me, I'm your mom
  • ," she said.
  • "
  • Mom... He... He... He has got a.." I was unable to speak.
  • "Aunty, may I help?" she said, my mom
  • , nodded, while I gave a helpless glare.
  • "Well, Ryan has got a
  • girlfriend... And he... uhh... Embarrassed her today, and... Well..." she stopped as my mom spoke.
  • "I got it, Sam" mom said and looked at me. She took my hand in hers.
  • "Now, listen Hannah. I know all this, the way you like him. But, don't hurt yourself. He has changed, you should to" she said.
  • "But mom! How can
  • we... uh..."
  • "Unlove someone?" Sam spoke.
  • "Y-yeah!"
  • "Hannah.
  • It’s OK, at this age it happens. But you need to understand. If there's no respect in a relationship, you should leave it. Do you understand? Don't hurt yourself. If you want, we can change your school"
  • "Wha- no mom!"
  • "We're just saying. It's up to you. You can do anything, but don't get hurt"
  • "Ok, thank you
  • , mom!" I said and got up, dragging Sam along with me to the top room.
  • 🌟🌟🌟🌟
  • Complete silence with a long, long, long trail of thoughts in my mind, ready to bury me ten feet deep in the ground. I don't get an option to apply. I can't leave, no, I have got so far here, Sam is here, there's no way I'm leaving. And how am I gonna survive here, with my... long lost love with his girlfriend, that too when she is a bitch?
  • "Need help?" Sam brought me out of my trance.
  • "Yup, I do" I spoke.
  • "Talk to Swifts" she spoke and my eyes widened at her words.
  • Oh. So, She. Lost. Her. Mind.
  • "Well, what's the cost of
  • a psychologist?" I asked.
  • "You need one? Oh god, I told you don't go in
  • to depression... But you don't listen to me. Now tell me how am I gonna tell aunty about this, that her daughter got into depression because of his crush, who was never hers!?"
  • "Done?"
  • "No! You don't have to kill yourself! You're not done yet!"
  • "Sam, are you for real?" I said really irritated.
  • "Oh god. Now she's questioning reality. I better get your mom here!" she said and stood up only to be pulled back on the bad. She sat with a thud.
  • "Are you done, SAM!?"
  • "Yea. Now listen to me, Ms. Hannah Quinn"
  • "Yes, speak, Ms. Samantha Parker Kent!"
  • "Oh, well, that was weird!"
  • "Just like that!"
  • "Ohk ok. Listen. So, Ryan was not like this before?"
  • "You can't even imagine him, how he was before..." I said and narrating her one incident.
  • "I was standing at the side shore of the ocean. He was there with me. Our parents were in our tents, so we were alone. I had my
  • favorite food in my hand-"
  • "Noodles!?"
  • "That's not important, Sam!"
  • "Ok, okay, continue!"
  • "The noodles fell-"
  • "So, I was right!?" Sam interrupted again.
  • "SAMANTHA. PARKER. KENT. YOU'RE. GONNA. DIE" I said pausing after every word to emphasi
  • ze my sentence.
  • "Okay, okay, I won't interrupt!"
  • "The noodles fell down and a wave came and took them with it. I started
  • crying... He was there with his favorite food, which was homemade pizza, he offered me it"
  • "Just this?"
  • "No! Listen!"
  • "Hmm..."
  • "He fe
  • d me with his own hands because I was not in the mood to eat anything after my noodles flowed away. He hugged me after feeding me and said that he will always make him noodles if I love those that much, but I should stop crying..."
  • "Well,
  • that’s..."
  • "He was just 8 at that time"
  • "8? Wait. Weren't you-"
  • "Yes, that was when I started liking
  • him. That's not just because he gave me his pizza! But because he was always there for me. He didn't bother about anything but about me!"
  • "Well, are you sure he's this Ryan? Maybe some other Ryan
  • Swift..."
  • "Those eyes fascinate me, I can never forget those eyes"
  • "He has blue eyes, right?"
  • "Hm, yeah, how do YOU know!"
  • "You have told me thousands of times!!"
  • "
  • Oh..." I said embarrassed.
  • "There are many people with blue eyes, Hannah. 10% of
  • the world's population is-"
  • "Stop with your facts, Sam. There's some connection I feel with those eyes!"
  • "What connection, can you be some reasonable?"
  • "What about Max?"
  • "Uh-huh? What?"
  • "His eye
  • color?"
  • "Dark black"
  • "His
  • favorite food?"
  • "Any food"
  • "His
  • favorite subject"
  • "Physics"
  • "Now, my dear Sam isn't it very common for anyone to like!? Any foody, physics, black, common answers, but you can't love anyone who likes these things!?"
  • "you're right. I got your point. Well done, Ms. Love Preacher"
  • "Hah! Thanks for your respectful title, I am really glad that-"
  • "Stop it!!
  • So, here's what I was saying."
  • "Hm?"
  • "Something must have happened to make him like that"
  • "What do you mean?"
  • "Amnesia doesn't make a good person turn bad, Hannah"
  • "So?"
  • "Swifts must know that"
  • "So?"
  • "Will you
  • go...?"
