  • I never wanted to leave her behind. The last thing she needed was to be stuck there alone. Well, I know she’s not alone but how much can we really trust her mother anyway? We’ve only known her for a few days. She refused to come with me though, and a part of me understands why but another, more insecure part, wonders if she really does like me or is only feeling sorry for me and is relieved that I’m gone.
  • “Could we take your bags, Sir?” the flight attendant asks as I board the private jet. Ace had arranged that I fly with their company’s private jet once I went through the portal back to our Dimension. I would have asked Dad to send his only, I haven’t been able to reach him. I dig into my pocket and check my cell phone notifications again. I browse through the dialled list too just in case he called and I missed it. It’s blank. “Thanks,” I mumble to the stewardess who takes my bag and places it above the chocolate brown suede seats in the cargo hold.
  • I sit and she immediately brings me a tray with snacks. With the nerves from leaving Ky, seeing my ill mother, facing my father and the initial stomach drop from takeoff, I cannot even think of food. A ping goes off on my phone. I open the message.
