Chapter 8 He was like the beast watching its prey

  • Calista immediately got up from the sofa as Vladimir walked over and stood before her. “Vladimir? Why are you here?” she asked. She felt both nervous and curious. “I’m here to read a book,” he said. Her eyes keep on his eyes while my brain is busy thinking. “Wait! If you’re here to read a book, then you are ... my boss?!” she asked in surprise.
  • He smiled gently at her, hearing what she said.
  • She couldn't believe what was happening as she asked herself why he could be her boss. Her mind went blank, making her speak without thinking. “Please have a seat.” She suddenly bit her lip and said nervously, “Or not.” She just remembered that this was his house and the one who should have said those words was him, not her.
  • “Thank you, Calista,” he said teasingly and gave her a smile. She avoided his eyes with her cheeks burning in embarrassment.
  • He then sat on the sofa, crossing his legs. He put his index finger on his lips while gazing at her. His eyes sparkle devilishly as he admires her body from head to toe. He was like the beast watching its prey. His eyes told her that he wanted so badly to taste and enjoy every inch of her.
  • Her heart was beating uncontrollably with fear and nervousness gripping her at the same time. He stopped stripping her with his eyes when he smelled her fear. His eyes softened again, so different from before that it made her fear of him disappear. She felt that there were two different souls inside him. One was an angel, and the other was a demon.
  • “Come sit with me,” he said in a soft voice, holding out his hand for her. She didn't understand why she couldn't refuse her orders, she could only obey. She then took his hand and sat on his left.
  • He moved his gaze from her face to the book in her hand. “Would you like to read the book? I'll read it to you if you don't understand the language,” he said kindly. She immediately said in nervousness, “Thank you, but you don't have to do that for me. I took this book because I had never seen a book like this before. May I ask you what
  • book is this?”
  • “This is a medieval history book about the first crusades. I have seen with my own eyes humans kill and slaughter their own kind for something they believe in. That’s
  • very interesting, and that’s why I wrote this book,” he said and smiled.
  • She furrowed her brows in thought. “Seen?” she asked in her mind curiously. “You like reading and writing books, don’t you?” he asked, waking her from her thoughts. “How did you know that?” she asked with a surprised smile on her face. He answered her
  • question with just a smile.
  • She then moved her gaze from his eyes to look ahead. “Ever since I was little, I really
  • loved reading books, and it makes me happy every time I read. I also love writing books. When I write, I feel like I am living in my fantasy world. I can do whatever I want and it makes me forget the sadness in my heart.” She suddenly felt sad remembering all the bad things she had been through in her life. She then looked down to hide her sadness.
  • She looked back into his eyes as she felt his soft, cold hand touch hers. “Please
  • don't be sad. It breaks my heart to see you sad,” he said in a soft whisper.
  • Happiness filled her heart, making her forget her sadness. Her heart beat happily as she kept staring at him. She felt like she was having a beautiful dream, and she really wished this dream would last forever.
