• “Oh…” I trailed off, trying to push him away and get out of his creepy embrace, but he just stepped even more to me. Fuck!
• “The Initiation will continue for twenty-four hours, more or less. Everybody will be present at the event. You’ll take a thorough bath, put on your ritual dress, and remove any sort of makeup or jewelry you have. We’ll go to the forest and let you say your vows in front of the Order’s sacred beam.”
• I nodded. This was the same beam that I saw the twisted figure over, wasn’t it? Fear screamed into my ears and made my bones tremble.
