• After Jace got back to his home, I fell asleep as soon as I hit the mattress. I might’ve slept only two or three hours, but I woke up fresh and happy. I had almost forgotten about my concerns at work.
• Everything changed when I entered the office and felt the tension hit me like a ton of bricks. All my co-workers were either on their desks all by themselves or whispering to close friends. Mornings never went this way. Usually, people were gathered in the kitchen, having breakfast or drinking coffee. I bristled when some of their eyes landed on me.
