• On the next day, we headed to Fergusons’ house. The car ride was awkwardly silent, probably because we were all on edge.
• “Jace Williams, Anna Carlson, Maxim Adriano,” I said when a guard approached our car on the parking lot. This was the second check-up, as if the first at the gate wasn’t enough. We were asked to park inside the mansion. We were more important than some other guests. But this also made our exit harder. My Mercedes was locked inside.
