• Opening my eyes, I felt them sting and squeezed them shut for a moment. I could tell it was already light outside, but I had also gone to bed when the sun was rising. I spent a nerve-wracking night, trying to find any more clues about the thief.
• I came up empty-handed, but this was just the beginning of the search. Tension wrapped around my mind, and my eyes shot open in urgency. There was no time to rest. I needed only the basic requirements to keep my body steady and protect myself from the lurking mafia families.
