• "There you are, son." His mother called after him when she sighted him in the passage. "I have been looking everywhere for you, where have you been?" Without letting him speak she cut him off. "Anyway, forget that. You didn't tell me you were bringing another female guest, especially the one you know I don't like." She muttered the last part to him
• "Female guests?" While he was trying to remember who the female guest might be Kendal's voice rang through the passageway interrupting his thought.
• "Baby!" She squealed, "You kept me waiting." Kendal ran to him excitedly to embrace him. "I missed you so much."
