Chapter 20 Dawning Of The Tempest

• There is another one month to go. Everything has been finalized and readied. Francis’ paternal uncle, Johnny, will play the father’s role as expected. During the main day of the celebration, the bride and groom will stay put in stage-like arrangement at the front yard and their parents should be with them as well. They will sit there throughout the day and night all the while the guests are there.While the guests are merry-making, everyone will take turn handing over their gifts and some pieces of messages to the couple. The bride and groom are expected to just receive the gifts and listen to what everyone wishes to tell them. That will go on until everyone is finished. It is also this time that the parents will say whatever inheritance they are giving to the couple for the people to hear and note. Nowadays it is just being done as a costume but years ago when nobody knows about property deeds and all, those who were listening to the statement of inheritance are serving as the witnesses. Because of this practice, every married couple’s inheritances are publicly known because they hear it during the wedding.
• Both families had been briefed about what they should and shouldn’t do. There are things to be observed and maintained especially during the main celebration. They should observe fasting at least until the night is over. Because if this is not obeyed, the family will experience a life where they consume all f what they are working for. Inability to control your hunger during the wedding ceremony will cause an uncontrolled outflow of money and food leaving no excess while fasting will spiritually make them eat less and keep more. More excess means more to save.
