Chapter 18

• Now that she understood the implications, she had to right her wrongs. The door to that wonderful world of possibilities was not simply opened by her. Someone was there to show her the way, and without him she would never have known.
• She had no idea what she had left behind, no way of telling if he was hurt, or angry, maybe both. She recognized a feeling she didn’t like but was way too honest to simply bury. She wanted him to be sad. Not because she would enjoy his suffering, not at all. But because whenever she allowed herself a second to think about him, she was miserable, and perhaps it soothed her heart to think he would feel the same.
• The first thing she had to do was call the elements. They were absent ever since she set course to this new land, and now was time to call them back. There was a change in power dynamics they wouldn’t fail to notice, but hopefully would understand. She needed to know where he was and how to reach him but couldn’t simply go back there. He said it himself, the Council was on its way and she couldn’t risk getting trapped.
