Chapter 7

  • Emilia’s POV
  • The hair on my back stood up as I neared the location. It was an old, abandoned warehouse located on the outskirts of the city. The place was dark and musty. The street lights in this part of the region seemed to be quite outdated. The dim glow added an eerie appearance to the gloomy place.
  • I drew in slow, deep breaths to calm the sinking sensation that had formed in my stomach. But, it didn't seem to help at all. My apprehension mounted with every passing moment.
  • An owl hooted in a distance making me jump. I wasn't sure about my decision anymore. But, I couldn't return like a coward either. Exhaling forcefully, I stepped out of the car.
  • "Devil! Devil! Are you there?" my voice shook as I called out.
  • A shadow crept behind me making her heart jump. I turned around so quickly that I bumped into a hard surface.
  • My eyes widened in horror and I opened her mouth to scream. But, closed it back when she realized that it was Michael. I pulled away and smacked his arm, "You scared the shit out of me, Devil!" My hand flew to my chest as she tried to calm her racing heart.
  • Michael didn't respond. He kept looking at me with a weird expression. A chill ran down my spine and my skin crawled. His eyes were ablaze with a carnal hunger. It was as if he were ripping off my clothes piece by piece with his glare.
  • I took a step away from him and said in a flustered voice, "I have changed my mind. I will go back home and just wait for the pictures."
  • My mouth went dry and suddenly this plan of mine started seeming like the stupidest plan in the world. I fumbled with the keys as I tried to get the door to open.
  • Before I could realize what was happening, the keys were yanked out of my hands. My heart pounded against my ribs as I looked at the hunky man towering over me. His expression was cold and distant much different from the man she had befriended.
  • I tried her best to keep my voice firm, "I don't have time for games, D. Give that back to me. My father, The Alpha of Ryanwood Pack must be getting worried about me." I had thrown in the term 'alpha' as a reminder that my father was powerful. But, he hardly seemed to be fazed by it.
  • He threw the keys over my head at someone as he said, " I am sure you have enough time for games."
  • I turned around quickly to find a woman dressed in leather pants and a jacket waving the keys. Her lips lifted in a smirk, "Take it if you can."
  • Shaking my head, I lunged at the woman. I even managed to grab her arm but the woman just shifted the keys to her other hand and threw it to someone else over my head.
  • My eyes widened in horror and her legs turned into jelly when I looked around her carefully. It was now that she realized that all the members of the Relinquishers had gathered there.
  • Why would Devil need so many people to beat up a blind man, unless.... unless he was after something else altogether? Had I walked into the Devil's snare?
  • The hunky man closed in on me and ran his thumb along my bottom lip. A shudder coursed through me and my heart sank. They were not here for Nivaan. They had laid this trap carefully for me and I had walked straight into it.
  • Michael drew closer and closer until I was backed against the car. My face scrunched as his breath reeking of alcohol assaulted my skin. I pushed him with both my hands and said, "Get off me, D. You are drunk."
  • "Of course, I am!" He slurred pressing his body against mine. I gasped as he weighed on me making it impossible to breathe.
  • His fingers found my chin and gripped it roughly. Bringing my face closer to his, he said in a cold voice, "Do you remember the day, I proposed to you?"
  • My heart stopped beating when I heard his statement. Was that what this was about? A few months ago, before Michael was my friend, he had proposed to me. I had rejected him with quite a few choosy words.
  • I swallowed and tried to say in a soothing voice, "I didn't mean to offend you, D. I was just trying to follow our tradition. I am supposed to wait for my true mate, right."
  • The woman in the leather pants scoffed, "Can't you see how fake you are sounding? Did you forget why you reached out to Michael in the first place?"
  • I licked her lips but it did nothing to hydrate them. My mouth felt like they were filled with sawdust and my heart pounded so loudly that I was afraid it would jump right out of my chest.
  • The woman narrowed her eyes and said, "If you kneel in front of Michael and beg him to spare you, he might consider it."
  • My blood boiled. I was the Alpha's daughter and wouldn't bow so easily. The sudden spike of adrenaline gave me the courage to speak up. "I will never do that! I am the daughter of Alpha Ryanwood. I would rather die than bow in front of someone like you!"
  • Michael's expression turned murderous and with a guttural growl he snapped open a knife. A shudder coursed through me but I held my ground. I was willing to die but I would not lose my self-respect.
  • Michael smirked at me as if he had caught up to my thoughts. With a single swift movement, he sliced open the piece of fabric that held my jacket in place.
  • A gasp escaped my lips and I wrapped my arms around myself. I glared at him and threatened, "If my father finds out that you tried to molest me, he will rip you apart piece by piece."
  • Michael just grinned and gripped my arms over my head in a tight grip. Holding both my wrists in a single hand, he made another slit with the knife ripping the jacket further.
  • I struggled against his grip but he was far too strong for me. I couldn’t let him get what he wanted. I had to do something. He was standing quite close to me. So, I angled my knees properly before kicking him right in the groin.
  • A scream escaped his mouth and he released me. I started running as fast as I could but couldn't get very far. Michael caught up with me easily and grabbed my hair. Without any warning, he took off my jacket and threw it on the ground.
  • Five men came out of the shadows and started circling us. I wrapped my arms around my shoulders in an attempt to protect myself from their lusty and lewd glares.
  • Michael wrapped his arms around me and said in a dangerously low voice, "Today, I will F*** you right here in front of them. Once I have had my way with you, I will throw you to them like a prize. I wonder how many of them you can satisfy before you die."
  • For the first time in my life, I felt pure terror. My heart went numb and her entire body got drenched in sweat. I cringed as Michael slid his knife under the thin strap that held my top in place. One flick and I would be naked in front of all these men.
  • Tears of humiliation rolled down my cheeks as I begged, "Please let me go, Michael. I am very sorry that I was rude to you. It is all my mistake. Please forgive me...."
  • Michael pulled me closer and snapped, "The time for that has passed, princess. All I want to do now is bury myself in your sweetness...."
  • A whimper escaped my lips and I called out at the top of my lungs, "Hello! Is somebody there? Please help me!"
  • Michael burst into a loud demonic laugh before saying, "There is no one to help you here." The others joined him laughing, mocking, and jeering at me.
  • Deep down I knew that he was right but I kept calling, clinging to that tiny glimmer of hope that someone would come and save me…
