Chapter 18

• The great city walls loomed ahead of them, ominous and huge. It was the first time the princess visited the city of Akkad, but she knew enough to not like it. And what she felt from the prince’s conversation with her made her feel uneasy.
• He didn’t like the city that much, but he was obliged to come. She doesn’t know why, but now she felt unsettled. She glanced at the man riding next to her after almost ignoring him for three days. His attitude has changed.
• The carefree, laughing man became stiff and skittish, ready to bounce on any moving object. His face wore an ugly frown and his lips were thin and unyielding. She palmed her daggers, making sure they were close and accessible. She was getting worried, too. It felt ominous.
