Chapter 2

  • Meet Kiara Diaz
  • After Raven was gone, Kiara jumped into the bed with the fake marriage papers. She lay on her stomach with her legs bent from the knees and lifted in the air. Her hair remained in a bun, and the jacket she wore before was removed. It was now lying on the couch nearby while her eyes incredulously stared at the papers with a jumping heart.
  • 'Kiara Diaz, an independent lady living in so and so town accepts to marry Raven Carter for the period of one year,' she grinned shyly like a fool, repeating the first few sentences over and over again.
  • 'If required, the contract term will be extended after the expiration date as it seems feasible.'
  • She flipped over onto her back and lifted her arms in the air.
  • She grinned once again, recalling the times she had met him in real life. The interactions were brief yet memorable, unpleasant but exciting, vivacious but agonizing. She drew the papers close to her chest and closed her eyes, breathing slowly and listening to the rhythm of her breath.
  • They were slow and calm, 'I adore your heartbeats, they comfort my heart,' That was the first of many praises she got from him. It was his voice, his every action, and, of course, that gorgeous pinkish-red smile on his supple lips that drove her insane.
  • Kiara Diaz, who had never paid attention to a guy's proposal before, responded YES right away when Raven proposed to her in college.
  • She was innocent and attractive... Maybe that was why that every male desired her. But what Kiara wanted was not known to him.
  • She was an innocent beauty with honey sweet lips, big brown pupils set in the frames of her eyes while her thick velvety lashes fluttered. Her hair was midnight-black and it flowed over her shoulders. Her cheeks were toned and a cute little nose giving her that innocent look she bore. With her joyfully ingenious personality, Kiara made many hearts throbs since her appealing thin waist and that zero figure made her look no less than a model in a magazine. Yet the sweetest and selfless being with a heart of gold .
  • "Shit Kiara, what are you thinking? Sign the papers and go to sleep. You have a big day tomorrow. The biggest day!" She whispered to herself sternly and laid down on her pillow.
  • Kiara turned out the lights and concentrated on calling it a night. Yet, there was one name that kept flickering in her mind, Raven.
  • The harsh wind coming from the AC hit her delicate frame. It shook her from her sleep. Kiara got up sluggishly. Her hands shivered when she put them out of the warmth of the blanket but anyhow she stuck them out and reached for the remote controller of the air-conditioner and turned it off.
  • The next thing she did is, sneak into the blanket by keeping her legs in place of the pillow and head in place of her legs. Her eyes were so tired that she didn't even know when she fell back asleep!
  • Not even fifteen minutes had passed when her phone rang. It interrupted her sound sleep.
  • "Ughhh!" Kiara cried in annoyance and slapped the mattress, "Shut the fuck up mother f*cker! Let me sleep." She whimpered at the phone as she clenched her fists. Her eyes shut even tighter when the ringing increased. It ached her ears but Kiara did not judge.
  • She thought the ringing would stop after she avoided it but it amplified much to her annoyance. Kiara got up from the mattress on her knees with the sheet hanging across her shoulders and picked the phone in her hand that was under the pillow after pulling it out .
  • She was just going to throw it down on the floor until, "Raven Calling… " caught her eyesight.
  • No sooner did she see his name flashing on the screen than her eyes moved in the direction of the clock.
  • "Jesus Christ! 10.00 am" She covered her mouth. She made crying faces and cursed herself. "I'm late! I was supposed to be there by 7.30." Her grip around the phone loosened and it collapsed on the bed.
  • Luckily the ringing stopped but her pulsating heart racked her spine with a stiff current of dread.
  • 'Why on earth does this happen whenever he calls! Why do I have to sleep so late when it's an important day in my life?' She cringed, pulling her hair.
  • "Why do I always annoy him like that all the time with my naiveness?" Kiara screamed.
  • Then she quickly hopped out of the bed. She then grabbed the clothes she had removed the other night for the important occasion that's supposed to take place in the morning by 7.30 am, and rushed inside the bathroom.
  • She turned on the tap and at the same time took her night wear off, letting the warm water wet her perfect body.
  • She has kept everything ready beforehand. For example, like removing the most decent dress for the event. His favorite perfume. Her favorite bracelet he gifted her and all the other necessities one night before so that she could reach the spot on time. It was her MARRIAGE with her EX-BOYFRIEND.
  • Woefully, like always, she was late.
  • Tbc…
