  • It had been a week since I lost my sister, my only anchor to the world. Physically, I had gotten a lot better. I was no longer bedridden and was already going through my physiotherapy sessions. Most of my wounds had healed, but I was still to go through a surgical operation to help with the broken ribs. Clayton had still not come to see me. I could have been fine with it, but it was to me how insignificant I was to him, how little — I was nothing but trash, and he simply wouldn't stoop to my level, he wouldn't grace my bedside with his royal presence.
  • "I've been thinking about something," I said to Enzo. He had been my pillar throughout my stay in the clinic, and had been nothing but nice. I was glad for his presence.
