CHAPTER 4: BIRTH OF ATROCITY

  • AERIN'S POINT OF VIEW
  • "No! You're not coming with them. Stay inside this house!"
  • My face immediately crumpled upon hearing my mother's refusal. I'm asking for her consent to let me join our outing, but she wouldn't allow me.
  • "But Mom! I would just die out of boredom inside this house! Just let me come with them!" I insisted.
  • "The answer is still no, Aerin, stop being so pesky. Get your butt inside your room and sleep, your Dad and I need to leave. We'll be gone for a few weeks because we need to attend a business trip abroad. We already deposited money in your bank account. Please stop acting reckless and behave. Bye Sweetie!" she said before dashing outside the mansion.
  • I grimaced and let out a weary sigh.
  • Right, what would you expect from your parents, Aerin? It's their business and money after you. Get used to it and stop acting surprised.
  • I climb up to my room and let my body feel the comfy feeling of my bed. I open my phone to see the time, 3:25 in the midnight, few minutes before the call-time.
  • A smirk form on my lips. I peak through the window to see if they were already gone. My grin eventually got wider when I noticed that their respective cars were already out on the garage, they left already.
  • I quickly took a bath and get the things I prepared last night, all the stuff and clothes that I need to bring for our outing.
  • I'll sneak out. My parents don't even care about me anyway, they pay more attention to their business than their daughter. Might as well just be a recalcitrant and defy their rules to the fullest.
  • When I have secured everything, I immediately left the room. I was about to leave the house when I can't find my cellphone on my pocket. I look inside my bag but it's still not there.
  • "Fuck. I probably left it on my bed." I laid the bag on the sofa and quickly climbed into the bedroom.
  • Few minutes had already passed, but all my efforts to search for my fucking phone were all futile. Damn, where did I put that goddamn thing? I already look everywhere but still no signs of my phone. I sighed in frustration.
  • "Whatever, I won't need it that much anyway." I surrendered.
  • I was about to go down when I heard a rustle from behind. I turn around only to see the ajar door. My forehead creased, I remember leaving it wide open. The cold breeze passing through the window brush against my skin. The curtains were dancing eerily along with the wind.
  • My eyes widened when I caught glimpse of a moving shadow through the white curtains. I instinctively turn around only to felt a cold and sharp object in my neck.
  • Surprised and horrified, I was petrified in my spot, not being able to move a single finger. Shit, I was too terrified to even ask for help. My heart started beating fast.
  • "W-Who are you?" I asked in a trembling voice.
  • "It doesn't matter who I am," she said coldly as she crawled the knife in my face which made me even more nervous. "The question you should ask is, are you ready to face death?" she whispered gravely which gave an intense shiver to my system.
  • I tried to look at her reflection on the mirror inside my room. My forehead creased after inspecting her physique, she's a girl. But I can't see her face completely, she's wearing a mask.
  • My eyes began to water, I look at her, my eyes pleading.
  • "What have I done to you? I don't even know you are!" I gathered all the strengths I could muster to say those words.
  • She glared at me. I almost whimpered as she pressed the knife on my neck harder.
  • "L-Let me go, please. Money? Do you need money? I will give you any amount, just please set me free!" I said in a trembling voice as tears continue to flow in my eyes. The edge of her lips rises up and she looks me straight in the eye.
  • "Your money won't be enough to atone for your sins. Trust me, not even your life can pay for it." Her voice is lace with so much anger, her grip on my hair is getting tighter.
  • "And what have you done wrong? You'll know soon, for now, take a deep slumber. Wish you see your own demons in your nightmare, Aerin."
  • That was the last thing I heard before I felt a hard object hit my head hardly, taking away my consciousness. But before I completely fainted, I saw the thing I have been looking for in her hands- my phone.
  • •••••
  • My head is throbbing painfully when I woke up inside a strange, unlit room. I tried to stand up, but as soon as I realize that my hands and feet were tied up in a chair, fear began to crept up my chest.
  • I realized after that I was held captive by someone. My mind took a trail down on what happened yesterday. Tears cascade down my cheeks as my hopeless situation dawned me.
  • I tried to asked for help, but I can only do so much with a tape muffling my screams. I attempted to loose the knots by wiggling my arms, but all my efforts were futile.
  • A blinding light suddenly overwhelm my vision. I closed my eyes to adjust with the light. And when I opened it, the familiar figure of a woman greeted me.
  • "Oh, our sleeping beauty is finally awake. Took you so long. Did I hit you too hard? I'm sorry," she said with a feigned apologetic voice. She removed the tape on my mouth and smiled.
  • My mouth fell open. I stared at the person standing in front of me with wide shock eyes. "Y-You?"
  • She smiled creepily. "Yes, Airen. It's me."
  • "B-But, you're already dead," I said in a barely audible voice. "It's impossible because you're already dead!" I exclaimed, my voice slowly rising.
  • The smile on her face instantly vanished, it was replaced with contempt and anger. Without any preamble, she cupped my cheeks tightly, my eyes meeting her intense gaze.
  • "Stop mentioning her death or I'll break every bones in your body."
  • My forehead creased. "W-What do you mean?"
  • She didn't answer my question and walk towards a table. I couldn't see clearly because of the tears clouding my eyes.
  • My heart began to beat fast when she slowly walks towards me with a plier in her hand.
  • I shook my head. "N-No, please no. I'm begging you, please don't do this."
  • She laughed at my reaction. "Oh my, this is very exciting. I haven't done anything to you yet but you're already begging," she said behind me. I quivered when she inched close to my ears and whispered. "Are you scared right now, Airen?"
  • I bit my lips to stop myself from bursting into tears.
  • "When I'm asking you, answer me!" she screamed. I felt an excruciating pain coursing through my body when she suddenly pulled a nail from my finger without any hesitations
  • "Argh! Stop!" My voice echoed in the four corners of the room.
  • "Stop this! Please, I-I'm begging you!" I cried when she pulled another nail.
  • "Stop? Did you stop when she was begging you? Did you even listen to her pleas?! No. You never showed any ounce of pity to her. How dare you beg for mercy now?!" she spout those words with great animosity as she continuously pulled all my nails. I couldn't do anything but to shout in pain.
  • My whole arms are trembling when she emerged from behind, her hands are covered in blood.
  • She pulled my hair and stared at me with a snigger. "Don't cry, Airen, we're just starting, so don't die yet, hmm?"
  • My brows snapped together when she removed the ropes that bound my hands and feet.
  • "I'm giving you a chance to run. Run Airen, run for your life."
  • Wasting no time, I pulled myself together and run towards the door despite the immense shaking of my arms.
  • I wasn't near the doorknob yet when I stumble on the floor when something hits my legs. My pained screams broke the silence of the night.
  • She walks towards me with a baseball bat on her hands that she used to hit my legs. She smiled creepily. "Do you  seriously think that I will let you escape? I'm not stupid, Airen."
  • I crawled away from her. I was about to pull the knob when she hits me again. She did it continuously, swinging the bat and hitting both of my legs. The horrible sound of bone cracking didn't even faze her.
  • My body was already weakened that all I can utter is a silent 'stop.'
  • She pulled my hair once again and slap me forcefully. I just close my eyes as I laid in the cold ground. Tears couldn't stop falling from my eyes.
  • She pulled a long, narrow knife from the table as she look down at me. Her lips curled into a sneer again.
  • Her hand shakes in excitement as she raised the knife, her expression similar to that of a mad man. "I still want to play with you, Airen, but you need to say goodbye now."
  • Taking a long deep breath, her eyes narrowed. She swung her arm down, with a knife on her hand, and pierced my chest. Searing pain immediately engulfed my entire body as blood squirt in my mouth.
  • Accepting my tragic fate, I just closed my eyes and whispered. "I'm sorry."
  • •••••
  • Blood instantly pour out of Aerin's gash. The victim's eyes are already close, but the killer continue thrusting the knife. She stabs the violently, without any reluctance, watching as the blood flow from all the wounds of the victim's body.
  • The sight would be stomach-churning and horrifying to some, but not for her. The blood scattered on the floor, her victim's mangled body, it's like a perfection to her.
  • She wiped the blood on her cheeks and smiled. "Don't worrt, your friends will follow you soon-" she pierced the knife on her chest again. "IN HELL!"
