Chapter 2

  • Jace
  • I am grinning like a fool when I come from Amy's apartment block. what the hell is wrong with me? I just met a girl, not forgetting in the middle of the night, and I am excited like hell! Maybe my werewolf hormones are catching up with me.
  • When I get home, the house is silent. The park must be busy out in the woods. I have to go out to get something for dinner so I can burn off this excess energy. I feel very vibrant I could run one mile per minute.
  • Air rushes through the fur of my wolf as I run through the woods to find the rest of my park. Memories of Amy walking by herself flood in my mind making it so hard for me to focus. What was she thinking. She gave me all that crap of explanation but I can't help worrying about her safety. She could have gotten herself into trouble.
  • "Hey man, you look buttered tonight," Jose teases as we walk together in the woods.
  • "Do I?" I ask.
  • "No doubt," he says while shrugging his shoulders.
  • "Where have you been?," he asks. He cocks his head to one side and studies my face.
  • "No where," I say. He chuckles.
  • "What?" I ask. "Since when do I explain my whereabouts to you?"
  • "Stop pouting," he says. "You have been with a girl. Admit it."
  • I didn't even hug her.
  • "Don't be shy," he presses.
  • "Disappear," I shove him off.
  • "Is she hot?" he asks.
  • "I am not sharing my relationship issues with you."
  • "Whoa! You are already in a relationship with her. It isn't fair that we haven't even met her."
  • Damn it! Why am I always saying the most wrong words.
  • "I am not in a relationship with her," I try diverting the conversation. "I just met her."
  • "I can't wait to meet her. She sounds so hot," he says with a beaming grin on his face.
  • "I haven't even said a single word about her," I say.
  • "Calm down. I am a mated wolf so don't worry about me. I wouldn't dare eye your girl. I'm fine with Sofia." Did he just wink at me?
  • In my bed, I just roll about sleeplessly. I wonder what Amy is doing. This is crappy crazy. What just happened to me? Here I am, wondering about a girl I just met right now. What did she do to me?
  • After a sleepless night, my body is exhausted. I need to see Amy. I just have to. I can't handle it anymore. Just one glance at her and I will go.
  • I know I look crazy when I stand infront of the apartment early in the morning. I can't just go and knock at her door. What will she do? What will she think of me?
  • I just lean against the wall outside the building as I think clearly of a plan. A plan that will not make me look like an utter fool.
  • I stand there for like an hour without getting any good plan together in my head. Damn it! She could probably be still asleep.
  • Just as I turn on my heel to leave, a movement catches my eyes. Amy walks out of the apartment and immediately stops when she sees me. The surprise is clear in her eyes that she did not expect to see me.
  • "What are you doing here?" she asks as she walks towards me.
  • "Well, good morning," I decide to be a jerk instead. She rolls her eyes and I can't help but smile at her reaction.
  • "Good morning," she says.
  • "That sounds nicer," I say.
  • "I am not surprised at all," she says.
  • "Surprised by what?"
  • "The fact that you have to be a jerk to me."
  • "Is that what you think of me? I'm hurt," I make a fake impression by putting my hands on my chest.
  • "Like I would buy that," she laughs, and that is the most beautiful sound.
  • "You don't have to," I say.
  • "I wasn't planning," she says as a matter of fact. I laugh and she joins me.
  • "You seemed to be waiting for someone when I found you here," she says.
  • "I was," I say.
  • "Why don't you go in?"
  • "I don't have to."
  • "Why?"
  • "I just saw her."
  • "What? Did she just leave?" she looks around the place.
  • "No, I wanted to see you, Amy," I had to say that.
  • "Um, why?" confusion is clear on her face.
  • "I missed you," I answer sincerely.
  • "Why?" she chews nervously on her bottom lip.
  • "I have no hell of an idea why but I really had to see you." Her eyes such mine for sincerity. I'm expecting her to burst in laughter and call me butt crazy but she she just utters an "oh" and kicks slowly at the ground.
  • I don't like this emotional shit going on inside me. As I look at this girl, all I feel is unfathomable peace that I have never felt before. I just don't want to leave her.
  • "Do you have any plans today?" I finally ask. Maybe that is what I should have said from the very beginning instead of acting like a total jerk.
  • "Not really. I just have a novel to read," her cheeks heat up as she tells me her boring plans for the day.
  • "You don't seem that busy," I want to slap myself for saying that.
  • "We can hangout and tour around the place," I finally say something sensible.
  • Amy looks thoughtful for a minute and my heart races.
  • "Okay," she finally says. I let out a breath I had no idea I was holding.
  • "Good," I say.
  • "Let me first go back in and prepare myself," she says and walks back into the apartment.
  • I can't believe I just did that. I am as sweaty as hell! Since when do I get nervous about talking with girls? This better goes well. I hope Jose doesn't give me crap about it. It is just a walk. I hope I don't freak out. Why is she taking forever to get ready?
