Chapter 5

  • Asher Smith
  • I watched Leigh as she reads into her past. Her facial expression was hard to read and it worries me how long she's taking.
  • Suddenly Leigh's eyes shot open as she gasped for air. Her breathing is hard and quick like she was about to have a panick attack. Never in my twenty-six years have I ever witnessed Leigh having a painck attack.
  • "Hey, hey," I say soothingly resting my hand on her shoulder to help her calm down.
  • "Zack, Leigh needs you. Come quick." I yelled for him.
  • "Leigh, I need you to calm down, take deep breaths!" I said as I watched the tears come pouring down her face.
  • Zach opens the door and rushes over to Leigh. "What's wrong? What's going on?" He demands.
  • He wraps his arms around her protectively and gently strokes her hair. "It's okay, baby I'm right here. Nothing is going to happen to you."
  • Leigh is still completely hysterical, never being able to catch her breath. It finally dawns on me that what ever she is panicking about has something to do with the stuff she saw from Willow's past.
  • I struggle to swallow the lump in my throat. Her breathing eventually evens out and she calms down gripping to her mates shirt for comfort.
  • "Are you okay leigh?" I asked her gently as she life her head from zacks chest.
  • She nods and wipes the tears off her face. "What happened Leigh? Did you look into her past?" Zack asked.
  • "I'm sorry for scaring you I didn't mean to panic it literally just came over me." She said letting out a shaky breath. "Now I understand why Willow was panicking like that. You know sometimes people's memories can affect me."
  • I just nodded at my sister while she turned to Zack. "Asher wanted me to look into Willow's past an-" She cuts herself off as she thinks, her eyes tearing up again.
  • "I'm sorry," she says crying, her voice quivered. Zack pulled her onto her lap and rest his head onto of hers.
  • "You are safe, baby." He coos at her.
  • "I know, but I don't think Willow is." She cries as she looks at Willow.
  • My blood runs cold as shivers runs down my body. "What do you mean?" My voice come out harsher then I meant to.
  • Leigh's sad eyes finally meets mine.
  • "Some werewolf pack kidnapped her, the alpha of the packed claimed that she was his mate." Leigh said.
  • I tried to wrap my head around what she just told me. Why did he claim her as his?
  • "What happened sis?" I asked instantly.
  • Leigh could only shake her head. "I shouldn't have seen what I did. That was private, I tried so hard to control what I saw but I couldn't, at least not this time."
  • "Did they abuse her?" I asked.
  • Leigh's eyes found mine and she nodded slowly. "You're gonna have to ask her Ash, it's not fair that we just invaded her memories like that."
  • She let's out a sigh and I watch her puffy eyes dart around the room. "Asher it just wants one man, it was a pack of them. They don't care about women, they are disgusting vile creatures and deserves nothing but death."
  • Zach begins rubbing his hand up and down her arms. "It was so horrible, she must be scarred for life." She says quietly and my eyes flicker to Willow on the bed. "I never seen anything like that in my life."
  • My heart aches and I want nothing more than to slowly torture those fucking wolfs, who hurt her.
  • "What's his fucking name?" I asked with venom in my voice.
  • "Blaze." She whispered.
  • "Let's just say we got a mission to plan." I seethed with anger.
  • Leigh and I wait for Willow to wake up and this time I attempted to be calmer and not make any sudden moves that might scare her. I know that I needed to be gentle and patient.
  • She sits up and scurrying into the headboard. Her face struck with fear.
  • "Hey." Leigh said gently.
  • She reaches over to grab a water bottle off the bedside table and hands it to Willow.
  • "Here you must be thirsty." She said as she hands Willow the bottle.
  • Willow shakes her head quickly. I can hear her thoughts, she thinks it's drugged.
  • "It's not drugged." I said instantly taking the bottle from my sister and taking a sip. "See?" I say looking into her big green eyes.
  • She hesitates for a second before her little hands reached shakily up to grab the waterbottle. My arms moved quickly to hand her the bottle.
  • "Have it.' I said gently with a small smile.
  • She puts the bottle to her lips and gulps it down.
  • "Would you like something to eat?" Leigh asked. Willow's eyes flickered over to my sister cautiously.
  • she nodded unsure if we were being serious or not, it broke my heart into a thousand pieces to see how damaged she is.
  • "I'll go make you something" Leigh says standing and the fear is written on her face. She shakes her head so hard I'm afraid that she's going to get whiplash.
  • "What's wrong?" Leigh asked.
  • "P-please don't leave me with him." Her eyes began to tear up as she looks at me.
  • My heart aches at her words, I just wish the mate bond would kick in so that she can feel what I'm feeling. So she can began to feel safe around me.
  • "Willow." My sister said sitting back down on the bed. "I swear Asher is not going to hurt you. He would never hurt you."
  • "She's right." I say. With what Leigh had just told me I'm not surprised she scared to be around men. "How about we keep the door opened and I'll sit on the chair across the room?" I say pointing to the chair in the corner across the room.
  • Her eyes slowly move to the chair across the room and then back to Leigh and me. Like she was looking for reassurance. "Everything will be okay, I'll be back in 20 minutes I promise."
  • Leigh walks out of the room slowly leaving the door wide open. I moved to the chair and sat down leaning forward resting my elbows on my knees.
  • I watched my mate shift uncomfortably on the bed. "Once you got something on your stomach, would you like to shower and get you into some fresh clothes?" I asked watching her play with the hem of her dirty tee-shirt.
  • I didn't expect a reply but she answered anyway. "Um, yes thank you." Her voice is so quiet barley a whisper.
  • "How old are you Willow?" I asked.
  • Her eyebrows began to furrow as she thinks. "Twenty..... I'm actually not quite sure." Her voice slightly shaking.
  • "You're safe here, okay? I'm not going to let anyone hurt you. They are not going to come for you." I say softly.
  • She flinched at my words. "How did you know about them?" Her voice quivers with worry. Then it was like something clicked and her mouth gaped opened at me? "Do you know him?"
  • "What? No I just...." I trailed off. Shit, I had to go running my mouth without thinking.
  • "You know him don't you?" She asked tears pouring down her face. "He's coming...."
  • It took all of my strength to stop me from going over to her and comforting her but I know I had to give her time. "No Willow, he's not coming here I want let him. Your safe here." I say trying to reassure her.
  • Her eyes search mine for the truth in the meaning of my words. I can feel the warm sensation wash over my naturaly cold body as I actually feel we were having a silent Special moment.
  • "I know your not a Vampire like me or a Werewolf but do you know what mates are?" I asked quietly and she nods her head yes.
  • She closes her eyes and let's out a breath of air.
  • "I want you to understand that, yes there are bad people in the world. But not everyone is bad. Whatever that mutt did to you, I would never dream of doing that to you." I say quietly down to her. "Just because he hurt you, doesn't me I will. I want you to believe and trust me.
  • Her eyes locked with mine, they looked so broken and lost. Almost like she was trying to find hope in them and can't quite reach it yet.
  • "Why are you doing that?" She asked her voice sounding strong.
  • I offer her a smile. "Because we are mates Willow."
