Chapter 40

• He could feel her eyes staring at him. Anytime he glanced up from the screen, she was looking at him. Griffin turned in the chair and checked, she was doing it again. Why was she looking at him? “I’m trying to concentrate here, and you’re boring a hole in the back of my head.”
• Her brows furrowed, and then she pushed away from the counter and stomped across the room. She looked mad, maybe he shouldn’t have said something. When she was right in front of him, she looked down at him, fiery temper very plain in her eyes. She grabbed his face and kissed him. Not a quick contact of lips, but a kiss that reached his soul and several levels deeper, if that were possible. She broke the kiss off just as he was going to reach for her.
• “Get it done.” Turning on her heel, she stomped to the door and left.
