Chapter 2

  • Octavia jolts back to life, her chest heaving in a rapid motion, she wipes the sweat from her face before turning to the dark sky, the moon and her sisters dancing in them joyously.
  • She turns to her room, her eyes scanning the surroundings for anything that could burn; for fire. But there was nothing. She turns to her side to see a bare man laying beside her, snoring soundly.
  • She heaves a very sigh as she placed her hand on her chest, she was off jewelry except for a precious ring she wore on her fourth finger.
  • She gently gets out of bed, making sure not to wake her husband up, flashing her nudity to the world, she took one look at him and there is no emotion in her eyes.
  • She wears her extravagant robe and walks out of the room, closing the door behind her. She walks down the palace halls looking for who her heart desired, she was restive and she needed to be in his arms.
  • She passes by a room and decides to check up on her.
  • She opens the door gently, only peeping, and she discovers that she is sleeping soundly. A small smile graces aging features before she closes the door once more.
  • She turns back only to bump into someone,
  • “Are you looking for me your majesty?” A sinister grin decorates his lips but she is not impressed,
  • “No, I just wanted to get some fresh air.” She lies through her teeth avoiding the man’s smirk, she still didn’t like to be caught stealing,
  • “Sure you do, well, I’m going to bed, good—” he’s walking away until she drags him back by his hair,
  • “Did I tell you to leave?” She’s as cocky as ever and he couldn’t help the chuckle that escaped his lips but it was a taunt to her, “I want to speak to you…… it’s weighty….” She avoids eye contact and he knew that something was up.
  • “Very well….” His hands are wrapped around her waist snuggly and he leads her outside to their private garden, and when they were alone, “what is the matter Octavia? Did you have another revelation?” His tone tenses up as he guides her to the floral bench; a beach that was made up of vines and flowers and was suspended by strong vines to a tree making it more of a swing.
  • It was a bit high above the ground so he hat to pick her up and place her on the bench, slightly swinging it to put her at ease. Her lips purse unsure of how to explain this to him,
  • “I did…..but it wasn’t like the one I had when Arcadia was born…… There is going to be big trouble soon Xerxes….” She speaks in bits as she looked for the right words to explain to him. She finally stares into his blue orbs, they held worry, “why are you burdened already?” She cups his cheeks lovingly before looking around to make sure no one saw their affectionate display,
  • “Why won’t I be concerned? Any time you say things like these you’re almost pronounced dead each time. What will I do to protect you now?” He looks at the moon before glancing at her euphoric features, “what did you see Octavia?”.
  • She takes another deep breath and her eyes lock with his, fingers intertwining and their souls bonding.
  • “The demise of our kingdom……my death…..” She breaks out and his eyes widen,
  • “I think it is high time we leave, tonight,”.
  • “Are you mad?! No, you are mad. From the day I met you you’ve always been mad!” She pushes his head away, “and what would fleeing the kingdom resort to? The whole army marching around the entire land looking for traitors. What would people say about us?”.
  • “Since when have you cared about that? About what people say hmm?” He frees his hands and she panics before taking them back, “and Arcadia? What about her? What did you see about her?” He pulls his hands away from her once more, he didn’t want to touch her again, “and what happens to our daughter?”.
  • “My love….” She uses this term whenever she gets emotional, “we cannot avoid this thing, we cannot prevent it but we can make sure it doesn’t get out of hand…..I have a feeling my time is almost up.” She cups his cheeks.
  • “We need to leave.” He finalizes and she rolls her eyes.
  • “If we leave then you’re only accelerating my burial date, don’t you use your brain at all you fool!” She curses him.
  • “Call me whatever you want but I will not lose my family!!” He bites back before there is silence, “I’m feeling sleepy, I want to go rest….” He wanted to leave but she pulls him closer to her chest, “I hate it whenever you talk about leaving me, I fought too hard to have you and I won’t let you go like this…” His voice begins to crack.
  • She hated to hurt him, but some things had to be said. She knew she was going to die, and she was going to be betrayed by her husband, but she didn’t know how exactly it would happen.
  • But Xerxes didn’t want to listen to anyone or anything, he wanted his family safe.
  • “Shall I take you to your room?” She offers and this puts a small smirk on his face, she knew she was walking into the lion’s den,
  • “But you know very well that if you walk in there you might not come out alive, you want to risk it?” He pulls her off the bench, he teases her from time to time to get his mind off the news, she hadn’t told him full details but he would get that in the morning as his brain was too tired to comprehend anything serious.
  • “This lion can’t kill me, instead he would do something else….” She rolls her eyes, she was a bit needy so she wouldn’t mind spending an hour or two in his arms, as long as he didn’t go overboard.
  • “It’s another form of death Octavia!” He laughs with a smile on his face, “I would reduce your pride and make you feel like a woman again, it’s been too long don’t you think?” He elbows her playfully as they walked up the stairway, she was not impressed,
  • “We had it last night…..” She reminds him but he still felt it had been too long, “you disgusting man.”
  • She laughs a little at his silliness.
  • “You’re a sinner also.” He opens the door to his lavish room and she walks in, he laughs to himself as he closed to door, wrapping his arms around his lover, “show me what you have for me darling.”
  • He groans in her ears to turn her on.
  • Her cheeks flush at his gesture, knowing fully well that auditory stimulation was more than enough to get her grinding. He places mild kisses on her neck and trails them to her ears, licking her ear lobe, “I need every inch of you tonight….” He whispers to her.
  • And her robe falls to the floor with a soft thud.
