Chapter 3 Existence of a Vampwolf

  • THE CELESTIAL IMPERIAL
  • “Vaewolf, Lycanpire, Vampwolf, Cucubuth. Legends speaks of them being Hybrids. But a Vampwolf has the most history ever written and has been passed down from generation to generation. Not a myth but it is real.” She stopped, looking up at the seven years old blonde haired boy who sat in front of her with curious eyes wanting to know more.
  • “A Vampwolf?” He arched his brows.
  • She hummed a positive response. “Are you sure you want to read a book like this, Dwayne?”
  • “Yes mother. Please continue! Please continue!” He pestered.
  • She heaved a sigh. “A Vampwolf. Half-Vampire...Half-Lycan. But stronger than both. A cross breed deadlier than any werewolf or vampire. Werewolf-Vampire hybrids are the mixture of a vampire and a werewolf. They possess the powers of both species, making them twice as powerful. And—“
  • “Wow! Mother! Is it really true that the Alpha King is a Vampwolf?!” He asked, a gasp escaping his lips.
  • She smiled. “Yes Dwayne. He is a Vampwolf.”
  • “I want to be a Vampwolf too...like the Alpha King! Show me! Mother, tell me how I can be a Vampwolf!” He got up to his feet and placed both hands on his hips ready to do whatever.
  • “Listen Dwayne, not everyone can be a Vampwolf. They are rare species which used to be forbidden in all supernatural societies.”
  • His smile fell as he sat back on the ground with his small legs crossed in Indian style. “But...the Alpha King is a Vampwolf.” He muttered.
  • “The Alpha King was born of an impossible union. His birth was between a pure blooded Lycan prince and a full blooded vampire who also came from a long lineage of witches.” She explained calmly.
  • “Why is it an impossible union?” He asked.
  • “Hundreds of years ago, it was forbidden that a vampire and a werewolf have any close relations with each other. If it happens, both parents and the child are to be executed immediately.” She answered.
  • “Close relations? That’s unfair. So they shouldn’t play even as friends?” He pouted.
  • “When I mean close relations, it is something more than you should know.”
  • “Oh you mean...having sex?!” He blurted out.
  • Her eyes widened in shock. “Where did you hear that sort of words?”
  • “Marcellus told me. I saw him kissing Elena the other day and he said they have plans to mate later on.” He responded.
  • She shook her head. “You should stop hanging around Marcel.”
  • “No mother, Marcel is a genius! He helps me out with the works given at the academy. I want to be like him!” He smiled sheepishly.
  • Maybe later on, she would warn Marcellus to be mindful of what he says and does in the presence of her child. “Dwayne—“
  • He cuts in. “I am glad executing both parents and the child doesn’t work anymore because it saved our Alpha King’s life.” This time a bright smile grazed the little boy’s face.
  • She shook her head in amazement at her son’s words. He might just be seven years old but Dwayne tends to act like he is twice his age. Still, she couldn’t comprehend why he chose to read this book; Existence of a Vampwolf.
  • “Mother, when I grow up, I’ll like to be the Alpha King’s personal guard. I’ll serve as a warrior first and work my way diligently into the Royal Home.” He said with so much determination in his eyes.
  • “And why do you want to serve the Alpha King?” She asked with a furrowed eyebrow.
  • “The humans.” He replied.
  • “The humans?” She reacted with a confused look on her wrinkled face.
  • “I’ll work twice as hard to gain the Alpha King’s trust and convince him to change the tradition. The pets and slaves deserve a better life in our—“
  • “Quiet Dwayne!” She shunned him.
  • “Imperial.” He completed in a tight whisper.
  • She set the book aside, stood up from the stool and went closer to him. “You’ll speak no more about the humans! You’ll speak no more about your desires for liberty! Or do you want the Alpha King to have you beheaded?!” She snapped at him.
  • Terror filled his eyes and he didn’t dared to say a word. “Please Dwayne.” She pleaded in a gentle tone now.
  • “Okay mother. I’ll be very careful of what I say.” He mumbled, placing a finger on his lips and he did a zipping up gesture.
  • “That’s my boy.” She spread out her arms and he moved closer to embrace her.
  • “Mother, I have to meet Darcel. We promised to play once the sun sets.” Dwayne looked up at his mother.
  • “Alright. Go ahead but don’t stay too late. I’ll prepare dinner to keep myself busy.” She released him from her hold.
  • “Okay mother! Can I ask Darcel to have dinner with us?!” Dwayne jumped in excitement.
  • “Yes, that’s good! Go now.” She handed him the book before he exited the room.
  • *******************
  • “Elias, do I have any meeting scheduled with the Alpha King in the next four days?” Darius asked, as he sipped from the goblet filled with human blood.
  • Elias’s finger schemed through the large screen of tablet on his left hand. “No, General. The Alpha King had sent a message earlier this morning stating that he wants to be alone for the next few days. No emergency message as at now.” He replied.
  • Darius looked up at his right hand man. “Any word from Raphel Grayson yet?”
  • “No credit alert seen yet.”
  • Darius smirked. “He must see me as a fool! If Raphel thinks he can run away from me then he must really be kidding!” He gulped down the last drop of blood. “Since I have a few days off, I guess it’s time to say hi to my old client. Get our men ready, Elias!” He slammed the goblet on the table.
  • “Yes General.” Elias turned to leave but soon stopped on track. “What time do we leave?”
  • “Night fall. And prepare enough to bring in more people to the Imperial. The Alpha King will be pleased to have more human prisoners and I, more blood to fill my belly and quench my thirst.” He chuckled deviously.
  • Elias bowed before turning away to leave the room.
