Chapter 8 Closer

  • “You seem to go with anyone.” I could hear Kai asking beside me, breaking me from my thoughts, “What if something happens?”
  • “I had already been through hell. What more could I lose.” was all I answered.
  • And the next day had arrived, indeed, and I could see that Zef was already waiting by the door as soon as the sun had risen. My nose wrinkled from smelling his alpha scent lingering, filling in the void.
  • I opened the door and see him grinning from ear to ear, “Goodmorning, have you slept well?”
  • I bit my lip, nodding.
  • “Good. Because I couldn’t sleep a wink.” He admitted, “I’m excited to take you to my surprise.”
  • “What surprise?”
  • He pouted, “It’s a surprise, why would I say it to you? Now go and get dressed. I’ll just be here outside.”
  • I just stared at him, his ears red with excitement and his eyes gleaming and I chuckled.
  • “What? Go inside now, or you want me to dress you up yourself?”
  • I instantly closed the door, took a shower, and prepared. I could sense him leaving for a minute, and I stared at the closet.
  • I realized I really didn’t have many clothes here, other than the few big clothes they sent me. A bi black t-shirt and a pair of black leggings with a big converse on. I put my hair down since it’s still wet and I’m comforted with the feeling of having it down and not exposing my bare neck.
  • My eyes glazed to the dark spots on my back extending to my arm. It’s still dark, but had faded a bit, not noticeable unless you look closely…
  • The door knocked again and I opened the door to see a boyish smile on Alpha Zef’s face.
  • “Hello, you ready?” He asked.
  • I nodded, “I am.”
  • “Good.” He then linked his arms with mine and guided me outside where all the pack members were busy doing their day.
  • I stare at everyone. Some were stretching and preparing for their morning routines, a few lads in the back were doing their morning exercise and training, and some were on their patrol duty.

  • “Where’s your beta?” I can’t help but ask, now knowing that since it’s weird how they have two alpha but I couldn’t even catch a glimpse of any of his beta.
  • Because that’s what normal pack wolves are right?
  • Zef’s mood seemed to change as he paused, “We don’t have any.”
  • “Why?” I can’t help but ask.
  • He shook his head, “Just do not ask.”
  • Is there something wrong with my question?
  • Why is he so triggered and irritated? Or something just has happened. A past he must not want to get reminded again.
  • I want to poke my nose in further but not wanted to trigger him early in the morning.
  • A few of the pack members stopped by as they were on their way and smiled at him.
  • “Good Morning, Alpha!”
  • The pack members greeted him with their smiles. And judging from their eyes, one could see that they saw him both with respect and fear.
  • I could clearly see the difference in how they react to the twin alphas. Yesterday, they were cowering in fear to Alpha Kai and now with Alpha Zef, they would go out of their way to greet him.
  • “You know you have to train with them soon.”
  • “I’m strong enough.”
  • “You need to train so when we mate and have our own pups-“
  • “Excuse me, I did not remember telling you anything like that. I’m not going to bear your pups.”
  • “You will.” He said firmly, and I gritted my teeth.
  • Why is he so pushy today? I don’t understand this twin alpha anymore.
  • But as we walk, I couldn’t help but feel a strong presence behind me, intimidating and oozing me to disappear.
  • Looking behind me, I could see Kai’s shadow by the window, his steering grey eyes lingering on us. He had clear disdain on his face and growled lowly.

  • Oh. He’s clearly against the idea of me with his twin.
  • Yet he just stood there, while my feet were rooted to the spot.
  • “Arya?” I was snapped out of my trance as I could hear Zef calling out my name for attention.
  • I turned to him as he smile, “You seem out of it. Did you sleep well?”
  • I nodded dumbfoundedly, and he grabbed my hand as we walked outside.
  • Zef’s hand were instantly put on the wall as he caged me in between him, the wall behind me grazing my skin. Despite his friendly approaches, I didn’t expect him to be so aggressive with me.
  • Not like this. He guided me to his blue SUV. I knew it would be expensive for the humans, and for us rogues to see it like this, it’s too rare for us.
  • Alpha Zef opened the door for me before getting on the driver’s seat and starting the engine.
  • The ride was half an hour away until we arrived at the destination.
  • I looked outside to see a tall building towering over us with some humans.
  • Wait, what? Why are we out here in the sun with the humans? I thought we were doing our best to be out of their sight and away from the elder’s sight, and even some enemies.
  • “We got out on the open now? What about-”
  • He shrugged, “I’ll get you your clothes first.”
  • He then hopped out of the car and put on his black sunglasses. His warm and big hands held my sweaty palms and drew me closer.
  • “Come closer, I’ll protect you in case something happens.”
  • A few people stopped and stared at us, mostly at him. I knew they would go in for his looks. He’s not normal….too handsome for the human standard, both of him and his twin. I mean I hate to admit that…
  • We went inside and he made me put on some clothes. He would wait outside and talk with the store staff as I changed and I would go out from the dressing room to wait for his approval.
  • But I have tried 20 outfits, and he only chose two clothes complaining that some were not my style, not suits me, or were too revealing.
