Chapter 7 Sparks
- A scoff came out of my mouth.
- A human as his mate? He must have read too many werewolf stories in his past times for him to think it is like this.
- “That is not the point. The point is you telling me you’re a werewolf. I mean we’re in the 21st century, Mr. Jones.”
- “Ace. Call me Alpha Ace.” He corrected, standing tall and towering over my figure.
- I didn’t dare quiver but instead stood my ground as I faced him, “That alpha word again. I heard that from Mark too.”
- Hearing me say that made him clench his jaw as if I said something hurtful, something that hurt his pride.
- “Because I am an alpha, and I am the leader of my pack.” He said. “I already bought you, so you’re mine now.”
- Pack? The way he said strange words makes me doubt if he’s even sane.
- Goodness. Is this a public prank? Is there a camera pointed at me hidden somewhere? Or a test since he’s my physics teacher?
- And I’m his? Something triggered inside me with the way the words rolled out of his mouth, “No one owns me.”
- He approached me, and I backed away, my back hitting the wall. I could feel his breath fanning over my nose, and I couldn't help but feel distracted by his stare. His hands then grabbed me, but I flinched, feeling a sudden jolt from his touch.
- “Feel that? I think that is enough reason for you to believe me.”
- That? An electric spark? That seems cliche and too..childish for me.
- Who knows if he’s even saying the truth? I stayed quiet and he continued, “Now remember you were attacked by some monster on your way home?”
- I nodded. Why is he bringing this up now?
- I-I thought that was just a dream.
- He stared at me deadpan, “It was not a dream. I helped you there. And it’s not just a beast.”
- His answer was strange enough for me, but what bothered me the most is the fact that he just replied to my question in the most bizarre way.
- No, it can't be. Maybe it’s just a coincidence...
- Right? right.
- I know it's just a coincidence. For goodness sake, it’s not like I’m living in a fantasy movie.... Unless it’s someone who’ll claim that they came from another world,
- He crossed his arms in front of him and said, “You think I’m bluffing.”
- I nodded, finding it useless if I lied to him, “I'm doubting it because you are spitting nothing but fantasy.”
- He sighed,
- Both of us will fight more if we continue. Let us rest, for now, I'm sure you had a rough time getting here. My beta will arrange your needs.” He decided that the conversation should end here.
- As soon as he said that, the door opened and Mark appeared, smiling at me, “May I?”
- As we walked down the hall, Mark turned to me and said, "I know that it is hard to adjust to this place, but I know you will get used to it."
- I pinched my cheek, trying to wake up and see this as a dream. My mind was ringing with a lot of questions now and I wanted to ask questions…so much… but it's as if I lost control of my body. My face stayed neutral and I just stayed quiet while following Mark. No one was in the hallways other than us and
- “And we’re here, please retire for the night here. We’ll get you a much more comfortable place once everything is settled.” He said, and Mark left me in the guest room by the hallways near the alpha study.
- I entered the room, seeing an empty single bed placed by the open window. There was a vanity desk and a bathroom off to the side. The room was brightly lit up with plain and basic furnishings.
- I slumped on the mattress, feeling all the tiredness from my body's appearance now.
- Goodness, if someone were to tell me things would turn out this way last month, I wouldn't even believe him.
- I feel so tired and hurt and anxious about my future, wondering if life is still worth it. My body is too heavy that I couldn’t even drag myself to the bathroom and shower, just to wash away all the happenings today. It was indeed rough for me.
- But what bothered me the most was the aching pain hammering in my heart, as if struck with rose thorns, stuck with lightning, and as if a tall brick wall towered.
- Being left alone in these four walls and staring blankly, I was suddenly washed over with the thought of my aunt.
- I experienced all kinds of pain, got abandoned by my own dad, and even sold to this strange man I thought was my physics teacher with the new school transferee guiding me, all I could think about is my dear aunt’s passing.
- She’s really gone in this world. How am I supposed to survive?
- One thing was on my mind, everything is just a dream. I'm sure that once I sleep, it will all be over.
- There was a knock on the door and it took me all the willpower to stand up and open it to meet my physics teacher- I mean Alpha Ace by the door with a calm expression.
- His eyes tried to lean over and peek at the room and he cleared his throat, “How are you here?”
- “What?” I asked, confused.
- “How is the room?” He repeated, his low voice catching me.
- “I’m alright. It’s normal to me.” I answered dumbfoundedly.
- He nodded, “Good.” He stood still, just watching me carefully and with silent stares. I stood there awkwardly and when he realized he was just blinking, he shook his head to clear away his thoughts, as if in a trance.
- “Did I disturb you? I’ll leave you alone then. Mark will come here by 7 in the morning.” I nodded and I realized he was already leaving as his retreating figure slowly faded away.
- I closed the door and slumped back to the bed, feeling my eyes closed instantly.
- This is just a dream, Kira. It will all be over soon..
