Did he really have to bring me here? Didn't he know if I wish to sleep on my bed, I would have done that myself?
Giving a sigh, she continued to stare at his face while he slept peacefully. Okay, he brought me here, but why is he holding me? The bed is small but not that small that I would have fallen down.
"I thought the screaming would have started by now." He calmly whispered, letting me know he is awake from when I don't know.
"And is that sigh for looking at my handsome face?" he asked, smirking still not opening his eyes and I raised my eyebrow.
"No! I was just remembering when this happened last time with my ex-fiance, but he always snores when I wake up disturbing the peacefulness. So, I was showing my relief that at least this time there is no snoring." I explained and a few things happened.
When I was middle of the speech, he opened his eyes and by the time it ended, he was already out of the bed standing beside it looking at me.
"You should really have pictures taken whenever you hear anything other than you expected. They are best for comic books." I added, smiling, looking at his expression.
And the next moment he was again on the bed, but actually over me, to which I frowned and tried to move away which he didn't allow.
"You are very bad at telling jokes." He mumbled and I frowned not understanding his words.
"And what is it you are talking about my face?" he asked not giving me a chance to speak and then stared at me.
"Well, it is not every day a guy can show his feelings that clearly and in too much quantity." I replied shrugging.
"What can I do? Realizing I have to compensate for your hidden feelings on the face, I am allowing you to see." He said shrugging back.
"Why would you even do that? Who are we in the first place?" I asked, still not understanding his words.
"Don't start the strangers crap with me again. Strangers do not sleep on the same bed." He replied frowning.
"So, that's why you brought me here." I said understanding his words and he frowned.
"What? Of course, not! I didn't want you to have pain for helping me." He explained and I nodded waiting for him to move.
When he moved, I thought he would get up, but he adjusted himself still properly over the bed with his half body over me.
"Comfortable? No work today? No need to go to the washroom or not hungry?" I continued to ask while he gave me an amused look.
"I am very comfortable, but why all the questions." He asked back.
"Hoping any one of that will get you to move." I replied and he just gave a smile before tracing my cheek with his hand, making me close my eyes immediately before they just flutter with his action.
"We are not strangers, Kirthi. We have been seeing each other from past a few weeks." He whispered and it felt like he is whispering directly near my ear.
"I see a traffic police every day but it doesn't mean he is not any stranger." I whispered back and moved my head only to feel his lips again to my cheek.
"Traffic police?" he asked in a shocked tone and I opened my eyes only to smile at his expression.
"Will he do this?" he asked after staring me at a few seconds and pressed his lips to mine.
He already did this that day but it was for a second but not it felt like he doesn't have any plans to let this be for a second. And I know after a few seconds, I too don't plan it to be a fleeting moment before kissing him back.
"Now, do strangers kiss?" he asked roughly over my lips.
"Fine! For your sake, I will accept that you are not any stranger. Happy?" I asked tugging his hair pulling him down for another.
After a few minutes, we broke apart and he finally moved to lay beside me but didn't release his hold on me.
"I can't believe this." I whispered looking at him and he immediately looked smug.
"That this will be this amazing between us?" he asked and I shook my head.
"That I would let you do this without both of us brushing our teeth." I replied sighing and moved away from his hold before walking inside the washroom.
After a few minutes, I got ready and stepped out of the washroom to see him gone. Wearing a normal dress with no work today, I walked towards the living room listening to the words being exchanged between the sister and brother.
"I will not have you hurt her just so you know." Anusha stated and I shook my head hearing her protectiveness not understanding why is she doing that.
"Just check if your friend is needed for any mental care." He grumbled and I raised my eyebrows but kept a normal look reaching them sitting on the dining table.
"You are still here?" I asked as a counter for his line.
"See? And be assured that nothing is happening between us. I had a crap dinner with our parents yesterday and I crashed here." He replied but not before giving me a glare hidden from his sister.
"Fine!" saying that Anusha walked into the kitchen while he turned his gaze towards me.
"What?" I asked him frowning and he shook his head before pointing towards the main door.
"I am leaving!" saying that to his sister, he walked out and I followed him.
"Look, I don't want her to stress about anything and it would be better she doesn't know what is going on between us." He said looking at me.
"What is going on? Nothing!" I said frowning and he frowned back.
"Is this your way of accepting my words? Fine! Next time, I will try not to be caught by her like that. I don't want to lie to her." He explained.
"Next time, when you have a crap day, go to your house and have some sleep." I suggested and he just stared at me without blinking.
"And remember that many people are going under that sleep and never waking up again. But you are blessed to wake up and have another day." I added to which he slowly moved towards me.
"I know all that, Kirthi. Everyone in this world knows that but we all are not that great people like you to think about such things when something disturbing is going on." He said in an angry tone.
"Even I don't think what I advised you but I thought it would help you to not be with me again and lie to your sister or hide. Because she will be hurt that too much at this weak stage that her brother lied to her or hiding something. Let's just stick to the stranger's part which will remove all this from our minds and life. Isn't it easy?" I asked saying all the right words I can think.
"Fine! Goodbye, stranger!" saying that he left but not before showing the fury he is feeling.
"Well, is my brother a good boyfriend?" that's what his sister asked when I walked back.
"We are strangers!" I replied feeling tired of using the word again and again.
"Right!" she said shaking her head but placed my breakfast.
We both planned what to do with our day having breakfast. As she wanted to clean the house, we started with each room.
Today is not the day of the month I generally clean but she is wishing to so why not. However, we were dead tired by evening but somehow finished the bedroom and living room.
"Anyone hungry?" we both heard a voice and turned to see him striding into the house.
"Your brother needs a life. Aren't his friends mad for him to spend the time with his sister rather than with them on mainly weekends?" I asked her to which she smiled.
"I am his best friend." She replied standing up and gave him a side hug.
"You have a huge responsibility then, Anusha. You need to send him back to his life and not get him stuck to us like this." I said leaning back ignoring his gaze.
"He is stubborn! Why don't you share my responsibility?" saying that she left to get freshen up and then I felt him sitting on the floor beside me.
"So, want to share by being my friend?" he asked placing his arm around me.
"I have a policy of never kissing a friend." I replied and he chuckled shaking his head before pulling me more to him.
"What happened to goodbye in the morning?" I asked leaning over him feeling tired.
"It was morning and now it is evening." He replied shrugging and turned his face to peck my cheek.
"You were angry! Did it also left because of the evening time?" I asked closing my eyes.
"No! If it was any other woman, I would have never thought about her again. But it's you, Kirthi. And from the first day, I understood you are weird. When I already know you are weird and felt the attraction, I don't have any right to be angry at your weirdness." He replied and faintly understood but more overthinking how comfortable it is to be verge on sleeping with someone holding and with my head over a shoulder.
I wanted to try this before but that Ex never had time for such. This is the first time and it feels so special.
"I like this." I whispered voicing out my thoughts.
"You like this and you say in such wonder but you were so normal in the morning on the bed. As I said, you are weird." He whispered and placed another hand over my head to press it over his chest and I moved my hand automatically to hug him with my eyes still closed.
"Your sister will be here." I whispered trying to come to reality.
"She is already sitting beside us and eating her share of pizza." He explained and I frowned not understanding why is he still holding me in front of his sister.
"I am just tired, Anusha." I explained before she gets ideas.
"Yes! And because I am such a good lover, I am giving her the shoulder or shall I say myself to lie on." His words were uttered which caused my eyes to open and stare at him in shock.
"You are not my lover." I stated.
"Yet!" he added and pressed my head back before rubbing my back making me drift off into sleep against my own protestations.
I smiled at the woman sleeping in my arms and turned to meet Anu's amused expression.
"What?" I asked but she shook her head.
"I am happy to see this but worried to think about the end of this. So, I am amused should I feel happy or scared." She replied and I frowned at her.
"It didn't even begin and you are talking about the end?" I asked but she just shrugged.
"Mom and Dad always have these plans for our marriages. I rebelled and got kicked out but if you rebelled and get kicked out, it is huge for you with your livelihood attached to the company still in their names." She explained.
I stared at her for a second still not understanding why does she have a problem with this main thing for so many years.
Yes! I work in my family company and I don't want to come out of it. I worked hard to reach the CEO position and I will not let it go for something which I can ignore tuning my head. I just have to ignore my parent's actions and done. I will get what I want and that is important.
"That is my hard work which I will not leave." I stated and she nodded before looking at Kirthi.
"What if a choice occurs as they did for my job?" she asked and I immediately felt the same anger when I heard about their actions towards her.
"It is silly to go to that extent, Anu. You wanted to marry him." I replied.
"And you don't?" she asked frowning.
"Are you serious? Marriage and me? Never, Anu! After seeing our parents you should have realized already, marriage is not for us." I replied and she paled.
I cursed myself and tried to move my hand to hold her hand but they both are completely locked with the woman in my arms.
"I didn't mean it like that, Anu." I whispered hoping she understands.
"I do not regret getting married to him, Bhai. If the external forces were little backed down, we would have been happily ever after." She whispered.
"Those odds always surround us, Anu. We should be strong to fight against them and not give in to them." I said in a mild tone and she finally nodded.
"Yeah! He showed his weakness but you will not. So, think about this marriage topic because she deserves that." She mumbled.
"She is elder than you and she knows what she wants. And I am not a bastard to give false hopes. She already knows what is my idea about such a thing." I explained and she sighed nodding before leaving the room finishing her pizza.
I tried to move away so that I can get both of us to the room but she is not at all letting me move. And so finally I just moved over the floor a little pushing the couch away.
Finally, I lay down on the floor with her over me and suddenly I laughed. Yesterday together on the bed and today on the floor but damn we were just sleeping. I shook my head controlling my laugh before drifting off into sleep holding her tightly.
