• "The women in the mountains care for our every need," Evan complained. "The men are too soft. Even during a chuke contest they barely put in any effort at all. They just don't have any competitive spirit."
• When the discussion turned back to the place they lived now, the worn looks returned. The more they spoke of their lives now, the more unhappy they became. I wanted to shake them out of it.
