Chapter 5

• As promised, it was 6 a.m. the sky was still dark with a bit of light coming out; sitting on the grass outside were Logan, Julian, Simone, and some of the other children who were there sleepy, confused, but most of all in the daze. It was about a little after six; everybody was in their conversation, understanding what was going on.
• “Why does this training have to be so early?” Julian asked.
• “Man, I don’t know; my dad told me we all have to do training to become warriors, this bite,” Logan said.
• “I would rather be in bed right now than be here,” Simone added.
• Before someone could say anything else, a sound of loud growls appears, and everybody jumps up in fear. Out of nowhere, three wolves came in front of them, sending chills down everybody's spine, and two kids wet their pants. Before anyone could react, the wolves turn back into human form, showing that Alpha Eugene, Beta Mitchell, and Gamma Ulysses had appeared. All three put their clothes on, and once they finished, they turned back around to the kids.
• “Good morning, everybody; I would like to welcome you on your first day of training. I am glad to see that everyone is here on time; that shows us you are serious,” Beta Mitchell said. As he stared into everyone's eyes so he could study each child to see how to determine are they were. From what he can see, most of them were fear. “Ok pups, I will turn it over to Alpha Eugene,” Mitchell stated, stepping to the side.
• Eugene steps forward to have eye contact with each kid before he states,
• “Welcome, my future warriors. I’m your Alpha; I would like to thank you all for coming and being on time. It shows how determined you are to be a part of a well-known pack. As you all know, we are omegas, the lowest rank in any wolf pack. That does not mean we should just give in submission by any force. We are The River Rock Pack, and a well-known pack, to be exact,” Eugene stated.
• It was true about the pack; The River Rock Pack is one of the first packs run by omegas. They have the highest reputation for accepting many wolves, whether they are refugees, rouges, warriors, former alphas, and so forth. They are a well know pack all over Michigan, Ohio, and Chicago. Giving in mind, the pack had opened so many doors, and the other omegas that were trying to create their pack as well; with that in mind, the name speaks for itself. “Now I’m going to hand it over to Gamma Ulysses,” Eugene said, stepping to the side.
• Gamma Ulysses came forward and spoke, “My warriors, I’m glad to see that everyone is here today; I’m going to be your instructor. I hope that you all are ready, this training will be very extreme, I expect everybody's full participation. As the alpha said, we built this pack on respect, and we attend to keep it that way.” As Ulysses went on a little more about the training, everyone began to get nervous because of how he described the exercise; Julian looked over to Simone and stated,
• “Simone, your dad is crazy.”
• “Hey, I live with the man,” Simone replied.
• “But you never told us he was this way,” Logan uttered.
• Ulysses ended his speech and began shouting “Ok, warriors, we about to do a three-mile run, starting now let go” he blew a whistle, and everybody began running. In the middle of the run, Logan, Julian, and Simone were in the front side by side. Since this was their first time running, everybody began to feel tired. It had only just been twenty minutes and everybody was feeling out of breath. By the end of the training, everybody was exhausted lying on the ground. Most of the kids were so tired they could barely move. “Ok, warriors, that will be it for today; we will start back again tomorrow at 6 a.m. sharp.”
• “What” everybody shouted.
• “This is not the end; it’s only the beginning,” Ulysses said.
• Everybody tried their best to get up, but their bodies were so sore, it took everything in them to get up, but they did it. “I’ll see you guys tomorrow,” Simone said, heading over to her father.
• “Okay, bye,” Logan and Julian said while heading in the same direction, which was their homes. Since they both live close to each other, they always walk home together; the difference in housing is that every member has their own house, including the alpha and beta. The alpha house is on top of the hill; it is a two-story log house with five bedrooms and three bathrooms, making one of the rooms into an entertainment room, and has a nice view of the land. The beta house was a lot different; it was a ranch style with four bedrooms, two bathrooms nice fireplace in the living room, and the master room. The houses were so cosey; everyone in the pack helped built them. While Logan and Julian were walking home, they engaged in a conversation more of a debate between Batman and Superman. “I’m telling you Batman will beat up Superman,” Julian declares.
• “Man in your dreams, Superman is a lot stronger than Batman,” Logan expresses, his hands flapping to the side, pretending he is flying.
• “Ok, Logan I’ll race you to your house, if I win, Batman is the best, you win Superman is the best,” Julian stated.
• “You’re on,” Logan states.
• They both put their right leg in front, and left in the back, and lead forward a little bit. “On the count of three,” Julian utters.
• “1, 2, 2 ½, 3,” Julian asserted. Off they went when they finally made it to Logan house; of course, Logan became the winner. Julian could help but admit to defeat.
• “Ok, you win this time Logan, but I’m going to win a race with you one of these days,” Julian responds.
• Logan turns to look at him and answers, “Don’t bet on it.”
• As usual, Logan always comes out as the winner each time he and Julian race, and it has been like that for so long. Now at 18, he, Julian, and Simone always go for a run; this time, it was different; when they ran. All three had shifted at a young age. They decide to run in their wolf form; Logan’s wolf name is Phoenix. He is a gray and white wolf with deep dark blue eyes. Julian’s wolf name is Hunter; he is a light brown wolf with black stripes and green eyes. Simone’s wolf name is Bailey; she is a chocolate brown wolf with yellow eyes. Logan’s wolf is the biggest of the three, but that did not matter to them because he will be the future alpha after all.
